This is a very effective speech. the organization of your speech is clear and understanble. You also use a lot of facts and data to prove your point without making a lot of emotional pleas. Overall EXCELLENT speech.

"In the heat of the moment..." That being? what? every single time you light up a smoke? At my school smokers actually get made fun of. You will get like 20 people in a group yelling at you at the same time. Plus raising the legal age will only make it harder for smokers to get the smokes, and make the acquisition of cigarettes more rewarding because of the thrill you can get from doing it. Oh, and the future is never on my mind, but always on yours. The present moment is all we ever have!

Ok well this was just a speech I was required to give and post for my speech class. I never said this is always how it works I simply state in some cases it is along those lines or can be possible. I had to talk to many different people in order to find out why and when they started smoking.

I'm sorry to hear you have made the choice to pick up such a bad habit especially at such a young age. However, I encourage you to make a good choice and stay in school and hopefully learn how to spell.

Hey, I think anyone can make the choice to live a short, happy, fulfilling life, rather than a long and boring one...I think it's sad that so many teens these days are already preparing for the long, boring alternative where you spend more time worrying about the future then actually enjoying the present moment. This seems to be the life you have chosen to live. You must really get high off of all that approval from your parents, teachers and like minded peers though.

Once again, very informative.. The statistics are sad but what can you do, the government is so concerned about this topic but the money they make off the tax fills their pockets so they will never ban it.

How would banning it help? Then it would suddenly cost as much as weed, but since it is more addictive, people would go broke trying to buy it, and they and their kids would end up on the streets. I know that that's what my dad would do if they banned smoking. Even if it ended up costing 500 a pack on the streets.
