  • Nice one, thanks!!

  • what strings do you play in the song?

  • time to bring out the pencil capo ;D

  • WOW! so simple and really fun to play THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • very nice!!

it's funny, when singing you're just looking around, looks like in your head it's like this 'pompompom...'

    nice tutorial though!

  • Amazing tutorial! I love this song. I am just having problems with the part when you say there are two chords in one bar, and you have to do the first part of that pattern twice, I can't seem to play it correctly, can anyone help? Thanks.

  • @mvpie4 To me it appears that he is playing the first half on the first chord, and the second half on the second chord. Like use the exact same strumming pattern, just split into two chords.

  • Great peice of tut right here! Thank you!

  • Great video. Will be very helpful for a novice like me to learn a beautiful song. Thx

  • your good at the guitar and also no forgetting what a nice voice you got ! cheers man

  • you're a good singer and a good teacher

  • yamaha f325

  • Sweet chords bro... But seriously awesome lesson. More!!!

  • i love it!:) thank u so much:)

  • This is a great video, but it looks like you're playing a B7 not an E7 on the last line before the chorus. Shouldn't it be C D B7 Em?

  • @starsighter13 It is a B7

I think he made a mistake, as all humans do times in their life :)

  • i have the same guitar!!!!!!!!!!

  • That's great man, helped me out alot

  • Thanks for the great tutorial - it was very helpful. But I think instead of E7 at 6:14 it should be Bmin7 (x-2-4-2-3-2) It sounds better following the D chord and with the lyrical melody that accompanies it. Great song otherwise :)

  • fuck i dont have a capo :[

  • @jquinones55 just buy one already all the good songs need capo :3

  • Cool, now teach me maths :(

  • Never mind. I found the tab I was looking for. Thanks again!

  • Great job on explaining everything! Is there a chance you have the tab written down? I don't read music or even know much about music theory. I found tab but would like to be able to have the chords described without transposing their names using the capo.

  • Ugh i'm having a hard time with the finger picking, I can get the G/E intro... but once we get past that....

  • thankyou so much, wanted to play this for years and this song means a lot x

  • my teacher.

  • You sing very well, and you're a great teacher :)

  • i have the exact same capo!!!!. that is all. oh btw best lesson on here lol

  • brilliant man!!

  • Great! Thx! Really helpful^ now i see how it goes)

  • youre a rly good teacher! i learned it pretty fast :D ty!

this is one of my favourite songs of all time :D

  • Omg, this guy is awesome, learned it in 30 min. And i didnt even understand any of the other vids of this songs lessons.

  • u rock!!!!!!

  • thanks man. you're a great teacher.

  • thank you so much. so much better than any other vid

  • I Thought E7 was 0-2-0-1-0-0 but when i play that it doesnt sound right at all so am i playing the wrong chord?

  • @TrevorLeeC it is 0-2-0-1-0-0

if that dosen't sound good then i think you have an acoustic?

  • @TrevorLeeC I ran into the same problem but there are many ways to play E7, the version I use is 0-2-1-2-0-0.

Idk if that is what this guy plays but it sounds pretty close to me

  • @TrevorLeeC it's Em7 not E7 --> 0-2-2-0-3-3

  • @TrevorLeeC try 0-2-1-2-0-3 I think that's the variation he uses

  • @TrevorLeeC try this: 0-2-1-2-0-2, sounds like in the video I think

  • @TrevorLeeC try playing an e chord shape and add your pinky on what would be the 3rd fret of the b string

  • You are amazing !! Saludos desde Chile ~! Muchas gracias ^^

  • Awesome lesson!!! Thanks!

  • Do this tabbed anywhere?

  • the funny thing is I actually just really enjoy your voice. The guitar teaching is great as well :)

  • love the song...u really are as talented teacher

  • This is a great video!

  • You're a great teacher! (cute too ;-)

  • @emmabina reminds me a bit of gerard butler :)

  • It's easy to learn but sounds really great!

Thank you for this very well teached piece of music!

  • Thank you!!! :)

  • THANKS :)

  • good video. great voice

  • You sound like Mark Crilley xD

  • Thanks man, great video.

  • your voice is beautiful!!

  • Okay, so if you have it capoed at the sixth fret, is the fingering still the same? Or would it change everything? Awesome tutorial by the way!=)

  • thx guy ;-) very cool

  • THATS MY GUITAR !!!

  • Thanks!

  • i like it!

  • Nice video! :-D

  • What strings do i pick with the D chord?

  • I'm confused, what strings do i pick with the D chord?

  • best tuto of this song!

  • what is Dsus4???

  • Verse: G Em7 G Em7 C D G D G C|D Em C D E7 Em Em

    Chorus: C C Em Em C C G D DSus4

Bass notes: 5th string for C (pluck 3rd and 4th strings), 4th string for D (pluck 2nd and 3rd strings), 6th string for the rest of the chords (pluck 3rd and 4th strings).

Seems like he plays the E7 like a B7 (4th string, 1st fret; 5th, 3rd and 1st string, 2nd fret) in the video.

This is all I managed to gather from this video, hope somebody else finds this helpful. Love the tutorial!

  • yeah no problem, when you play the C you first pick the

    2nd string than the 4th- 3rd- (all of em)- 4th and 3rd

when you play the D you pick the 1st- 4th- 3rd- (all of em)- 4th and 3rd! Hope I could help you.

Very nice Video by the way!!! Thank you very much. Learned it really fast, and Im a beginner!!

  • i need some help! After G Em7 G Em7 does the picking change??? i dont know for the C but the D picking is definately different!can someone help pls. but anyhow awesome tutorial!!!

  • @J2a2n you start the cycle, with the bass for each chord so with the G and Em7 that is the low E string as normal, but in a C chord you don't play the E string so the bass is the bass becomes the A string and for a D chord you don't play the low E or the A string, so the bass is your D string, hope that helps and doesn't just confuse you more :]

  • i dont understand how your playing the e7 its different than how i play it. please help

  • wow, that was a great lesson. I know jujitzu

  • Heyy I have that exact same guitar I'm using right now!!!

  • Seth Rogan?

  • @joshdougan1 no

  • @joshdougan1 not even close

  • you are totally adorable dude

  • i just fucking learned this song. thanks a crapload!

  • Thanks man

  • this might just be me being a dumbass but when he does the plucking from the c to the d (the fourth the fifth) i dont know the plucking pattern and what strings , i got the g to the em7 but thats it :d

  • thanks for this, good tempo and chord change practice for beginners :) x

  • tip of the tongue the teeth and the lips

  • in the end E7 or B7 ?

  • HEY I HAVE THAT SAME GUITAR!!!!

  • There's a typo in the video. It's not E7 but B7 and you make it like this

2nd finger 2nd fret of the A string

1st finger 1st fret of the D string

3rd finger 2nd fret of the G string and

4th finger 2nd fret of the high E string

If you do that you will see it's exactly what he does.

  • awesome

  • I can't find my capo! :-( And I wanna play it to one of the people I love! Awh, that sucks :-(

  • Comment removed

  • @MusicSongGod

I've got the same problem :D:D

  • @MusicSongGod Pencil, two rubber bands will do the job, look it up

  • @MusicSongGod here use mine... and remember! always use protection.

  • if anyone has trouble with the E7 chord after "the baffled king" part try B flat. i thought it sounded nice.

  • How to play e7 chord?

  • @ItsRainingCoffee E

    e| open

    B| open

    G| 1st fret

    D| open

    A| 2nd fret

    E| open

  • is it possible to play this without the capo?

  • good tutorial but hey you sang good too :)

  • This got me laid, Thank you

  • Good tutorial, you play that song very well and you sing very well too ;)

  • unique new york

  • thanks sooo much learned this song in an hour!! =)

  • Youtube : 'How to make a capo'. It's really easy and completely free.

Don't rely on it too much, it will eventually wreck the strings of your guitar. But it does work, and plus a capo is really cheap to buy from any music store.

Also, you don't _need_ a capo for any song, A capo just gives the right pitch for the original song.

    (:

Thanks for the video lesson btw (:

  • VERY GOOD LESSON!

Thanks for posting the chords ;o)

    GuitarHawky / Germany / Berlin

  • Why does every freakin' good song need a capo?

    damn, once again i'm screwed.

  • @ebbaemilia they are fairly inexpensive just go buy one! its worth it i use mine a lot

  • @ebbaemilia Try using a pencil and an elastic. It's not perfect, but that's what I did before getting one

  • your an awesome singer

  • supercool.

    thank you so much =)

  • VERY GOOD LESSON! Thanx

  • You do not explain the picking pattern one bit :/

  • I have that same Capo as you do, don't you just hate it? I do... so I bought a new one :O

  • I thought it was a B7 in stead of a E7. You should try it, it sounds really good too ^^

  • I Cant Figure Out What E7 Looks Like, What Fingers Go On What Strings?

  • @rachelwhite306724

I do believe the "E7" is actually a "B7". With capo in 4th fret it would look like this... A string in 6th fret, D string in 5th fret, G string in 6th fret, B string open and E string in 6th fret.

  • Just got the rush! Nailed it! Thank you so very much

  • thanx dude!! one of my favz and now i can play it =)

  • I love this song! So Amazing!

    YAMAHA RULEZ! xD

  • very nice, thx :)

  • CO ZA ASY!

  • I`m sorry, I dont understand wich strings do you play in C chord and D, because they are not the same as the other chords. I understand the part "The fourth, the fifth..." but not the other "But you dont really care for music do you?"... Can somebody help mey please. I love this song :)

  • @dudaeleoeneka

for C you pick A string and for D you pick D string instead of low E. Simply the root notes;)

  • @joeycoons20092009 EM7 with the capo there goes as follows. first finger 6th fret A

    second finger 6th fret D. Third finger 7th fret B. And fourth finger 7th fret E. (:

  • I'm confused on how to make the e7?

  • how to take the E7?

  • hey mate thanks for the vid, nice playing... ;) Ive got one question, if one is singing this does, in the chorus does one start already with the hallelujah on the second chord example at the beginning, one plays C twice and does one start the hallelujah on the end of the second C?

  • i just pee peed

  • Thank you! Thank you! so many people dont give leonard cohen the credit for this song, i was afraid when i saw the title, but i do not like buckley's version since his interpretation of this beautiful song is quite dirty, as compared to Cohen's, whom which took 10 years to write it, which i interpret it as how broken our love is compared to one we can achieve with God.

i know kinda corny, but makes the song so much more for me

  • The regular version is in The key of A. That's capo fifth fret

  • thats a nice drum kit behund you X|

  • thanks! :D

  • @ThePhoenixcall MEEEEE222!!!! :D

  • Thanks, I just started learning the guitar six weeks ago and this lesson was very beginner friendly.

  • It's wrong. you hit the base notes open E -> Fsharp ->G and then you pick the two higher notes and strum.

  • great...now after watching this video and practising for a week, i have learned to play this song

  • @supermario1710 really a week
