thank you for your email....Next year I am going to work in Wellington City CBD...Now I have decided to buy a cheap Scooter... your video is very inspiring.
My scooter is an all electric 5000w model. Now 14,000km and no servicing price or petrol. The service manual simply tells you to tighten a bolt or check this nut or check the brake pads.
I bought it from a company in Melbourne and love it. Just plug it in every night, that's it. It's used nearly $42 in electricity bills in a year and a bit. I have a power meter on the scooters power point.
in terms of fuel consumption I'm getting about 5l/100km on my jx50 milan. the 2.8l/100km is the assumption that you ride at its most economical speed - 30kmh. oil requirement is about 500ml 2 stroke motorbike oil every 1000km, and servicing with vmoto is a pricey $185 for each service (1000km, 4000km, 7000km and every 3k onwards). Overall the scoot does save time, but not alot of money. Note: my fuel consumption is based on safe riding speeds, i.e. 50-55kmh in 50kmh zone, 60 in a 60-70 zone
@v4rmru17 My scooter (Peugeot New Vivacity, 4stroke), drives 1:33 - with me (95kg) and my girlfriend (70kg) on it - alone it should be able of 1:40 or even 1:45. It hardly uses any oil (it does not mix it up like a 2stroke engine, but like your car), so it definitely saves money.
The thing is, at least here in the Netherlands, motorists begin getting aggressive when they just only see a scooter around them. Mostly because the 16 year old kids drive like crazy on them. In a result that the motorists are going to do everything to pass you in the most dangerous ways, or stick one meter behind you which is very dangerous on a two wheeler. This is why i stick to my 4.6L 208HP V8 Ford Thunderbird and push all those people of the road and help making traffic jams.
@golf1diesel If you think there would be any reason to brag about that, sure. In countries like Australia/America V8's are default in cars. My point was, a scooter is a lot better for the climate than an idiot 4.6L V8 engine. But people make it themselves that I'm not going to use a scooter to save the nature.
20000 miles the life of a motorcycle AHAHAHA XD. A 50cc 2 stroke that is taken care of will do 15000 miles on a motor, then you swap it out for about 150 bucks and you'll do another 15000 miles. The frame will last for years and the brakes can be changed cheaply. A motorcycle's 4 stroke engine should be rebuilt every 40000-50000 miles. Thats not too costy either. And most people can put over 60000-70000 miles on it without touching it. (talking about the motor btw.
Just discovered this video.... hope you guys make more!,,, this was Great!!! I was pondering between a cheap $1500 motorcycle and a 250cc touring scooter... now I know which one I will get.
Then the video would not have made sense for the purpose of saving time AND MONEY. You dont buy a 600cc suzuki gsx to save on gas. DUH! It would take more than 40,000 miles on a bike like that before the gas savings paid for the bike, 25,000 even for a vespa! The life of a motorbike is about 20,000 miles. just to put it in perspective!
Hey cmfernandez, "The life of a motorbike is about 20,000 miles" huh? Better tell that to all the guys with motorcycles that have 25k to 30k or more on their odometers then! That's just a number the statistics people put out, in the real world many bikes last far longer than that.
All depends on how well you care for them, just like with a car!
Thanks for this vid, my friends and family all laughed at me for buying a fifty cc scooter. But when gas prices soared, while all my coworkers were spending 10 to 15% of their take home pay on gas per month, i was spending less than one percent on mine. Not to mention i dont have to pay monthly insurance premiums a savings of another 15 to 20% of my take home pay. I even took a vacation to New York to visit family i hadnt seen in two years with all the cash I saved after just six months!
Hey Sputnik28.. You do realize that sooner or later we're all dead -anyway-, right? So you may as well try to enjoy your life while your here.
Scooters aren't for -everyone- out there. But for those willing to live a little, they can be a great way to pollute less, travel more, and still save! Ask anyone with a scooter, they'll likely tell you they had more fun after they got it, than before!
cool video but i didnt like how you compared a crappy scooter to a nice car like a bmw. you could of used a vespa, aprilia or honda bike with more power.
Excellent work, but for a complete victory over the car can I suggest you add afterburners with flame-throwing capability and a death ray xenon head light?
The vmoto looks great. Great mileage.
