It is indeed sad that Perkins decided to not pursue his musical career any further than those albums for Epic and RCA Victor. As the evidence herein indicates, he had superb timing, phrasing and intonation, and knew how to work the dynamic of a lyric.
A bit stronger vocally than like minded future labelmate Rod Lauren, Perkins certainly combined the finesse of Dean Martin with the pathos of Bobby Curtola.
"Moonlight Swim" is a classic! Thank God that his son, Elvis Perkins also records.
Whoa, I didn't know that he released three albums; sounds like he was a pretty serious singer before he found his acting niche. Thanks for the info, and for visiting my channel!
Great version. In fact, Hank Williams would not have done it better. Overall, it's better than Elvis' and Elvis' was excellent.
