to enhance life, nature and surroundings, it is more remembered in a tale with excitement, perking up the ears and imaginings. to cultures not having writing , voices were the common , and a tall tale to extravagantly help young ones to remember and pass on , getting them into the important bits like lineage, and family trees, cultivation, respecting all things of the land etc etc. now days , these stories seem ancient , but tech can disappear as it came.
@Attilahollo9 shows how much u know about our culture huh...it may be crap to you..cause you have no life, well these are our stories..dont go mocking them..an stop leaving your stupid coments on here...LOSER...
Dude, I never told is crap. You totally misunderstood it. I'm Hungarian. We have similar stories, just like every nation in every country. These are very nice and precious and should be preserved. I live in Brussel and have many friends of other nationalities. We share and laugh at each others cultures. I just said that these old stories are a bit funny if you think about it. But it seems you ain't capabale of thinking from different aspects not just about old tales but people as well.
Agreed! Your father (his work) is a part of NZ history. I remember listening with intent as the teacher read aloud the wonderful stories of Mauis' exploits. Even my childrens' children hear the very same stories today. I am proud to say that I know your father personally...he is a truly kind and generous person, a genuine character!
thanks for the post 1st time i'd seen this even though my father told me about it! (he's the author & illustrator) Well animated Maori TV... but a pity you didn't grace my Dad with better commission for his fantastic work. -Marama Gossage

That tale is really nonsense, just like the Mohhamed guy. Except the way Biff told us :)
Oh and and the mormons. They have the funniest ones, and the scientologists as well. Crap, there are so many :)
