  • big bux to replace a coil on plug vs old distributor system.

  • Sounds like a good system, but now it costs as much to have coils r&r'ed as it used to to get an engine rebuilt. Is it worth a little bit of efficiency improvement?

  • When you get a missfire on a ford triton engine with the coil on plug ignition system, coil is bad and these eat coils left and right. The DIS ignition system came out because of less moving parts it is the same with the coil on plug ignition system.I like the coil on plug ignition system, cleaner engine area.

  • The coils are easy to remove, you do not need to remove the fuel rail. The boots on the coils are flexible and they come out pretty easy after removing the screw. Be sure to replace the coil boots when you change the plugs, use the XP Iridium plugs for best performance and mileage.

  • @cadzillals6 Thanks for the reply, and the good advice.

  • Great video. I have a 4.6L Ford engine (2005) which looks like what you have in this video. My gas mialage is starting to decline so I thought I'd change the plugs, but it looks like I would have to pull the fuel rail to get at the coil and plug. However, in the video you seem to be able to get the coil out easily. Can the coil and plugs be removed without pulling the rail?

  • very good video.

  • thanks for the info video, and i see you have a conventional ignition users comment which i find it to be valid.. I feel to each its own and somethings work better for others..The new systems has its advantages and disadvantages ,for instance you have to spend more money to purchase them and you need more modern test equipment to verify the problem! but change is good and the old saying applies, "if it ain't broke why fix it". thanks..

  • Points and condensers? Ok, if you like tuning up the vehicle every 12 k miles.

  • you cannot beet the simplicity of points and condesor systems they are so easy to diagnose and cheap to fix even in remote places all this technology is just bullshit to make more money.
