hey was just wondering if anyone knows...i purchased a second hand export kit and when i went to change reso skin i realised it had tapered parts(almost shaved parts where the snare wires run across the timber....every other snare ive seen doesnt have this but mine seems like it was made like that.............question is is it how its made..and if so how am i to tune the reso skin if the skin doesn't even hit the bearing edge of the shell? please someone help cause my snare sounds like shit

I have the same set (5 piece, however) and switched from the Remo heads to first Evans and now I'm sold on Evan's hydraulic. Hated the sound with the Remos (Mapex), but the Evans (hydraulics esp) sound YUMMY! :)

@urcoolcoolcool The export series has been with us for a long time, so the export 10 years ago is'nt the same as it whas 3 years ago. But the newr modells are awesome when it comes to durability, and the sound is what it is, nothing wrong with it. I have one Exr and one Masters custom.. So if the masters is a 10, the exr would beeee: 6

well, i tuned my toms quite low, for a nice punch. also i tuned the reso heads higher than the batter so it would dry the sound out just a little bit.
