  • i remembered when i found her with this song.... BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • This is so perfect it makes me want to cry. I love Kaki.

  • @neoncatsss there were tears the first time.

  • Outstanding

  • WaW!!*****

  • Why did the recorded version get removed from youtube? Just curious.

  • You're so beautiful, so strange, so lovely, That's the truth. But if you were the one, baby, you'd've heard it by now; But I never said I love you You are a dream-come-true for someone, But not for me. Still, can't we have fun, darling? I can't say what I don't mean You give me more than I can contain It hurts to know the truth, But this will never go your way I never said I love you. Sweet thing, come to me Sweet thing, come to me
  • I think there should be a new standard on youtube for dumbass negative types. If you think an artist is shit, record one of your own compositions, post it on youtube as a response to illustrate how much better you think you are. at least then you are responding with art instead of a pointless uninformative series of words. Mckee is awesome, King is awesome. My personal opinion is that I can sit next to her and listen to her sing/play all day and there is no fucking way I could play like her

  • Some done-up woman is smoking on the concrete steps of the facility.

  • kaki means poop in hebrew lol:)

  • Not a fan of the sound. Very talented though.

  • Amazing.

  • omagawd cute

  • heheheheh she's a lesbian....i have a fucking chance >:D ATLAST

  • @JTwitchyLe Probably still don't have a chance in hell haha.

  • @JTwitchyLe me too.;p

  • I love this woman

  • Wow, a female virtuoso musician that has a unique style, doesn't play piano and isn't a generic youtube-tier guitarwanking slut!

Simply can't believe it. I love how she uses her nails to fingerpick.

  • Boring, but I want her to scratch my back.

  • I love the blues in the start/middle part, the last part is not really my style.

  • Lol... To the bra, at the beginning: DON'T FUCK WITH MEH!

  • That was amazing.

  • IN HEBREW HER NAME IS SHIT

  • @OZSAID in Awesome her name means Winning.

  • @OZSAID למי אכפת?

  • And if you think that's not impressive enough, watch what she does at 3:30...

  • LOL. The nails help! :D And her voice is sexy.

  • Her voice is beautiful :c

  • Kaki is such an amazing guitarist and for the record the only difference between acoustic and electric is one freaking takes electricity yes theres different feels but you can get an acoustic that feels like an electric and an electric that feels like an acoustic. the point of guitar is to play it how ever the hell you feel. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a single minded person.

  • Boy am I glad I don't know squat about electric guitar playing. I enjoyed the daylights out of this.

  • Wow, somethn special.

  • Best performence of this song(:

  • @emcee4CEE

It's not out of key, her guitar just isn't in standard. She plays around with different tunings more than almost any guitarist I've seen.

  • I love this woman... I can't tell from the ehadstock really, what is she playing on (rig wise)??? Kinda looks like a Gibson ES or something??? Anyway, i really LOVE KK...

  • @4rescue It's a Yamaha SG

  • @MyEverConstantSmile you sure, ive played a couple of Yamaha SGs, its not quite the same

  • @4rescue Its a Hamer guitar

  • @SuperSchmuel *six months later*

..Yep, still enjoying the music. How tragic life is, eh?

  • she should marry Kerry King from Slayer

  • looks like there are at least 23 pieces of shit with youtube logins.

  • @XWarHammeRsX fapping is for /b/ros

  • i like she move here bra strip up

  • Amazing.

  • Beautiful song!

  • Just criticism, no trolling please? She should stick with the acoustic. At least til he gets her electric guitar skills up. (some unintentional muted/mess up plucks while playing) Electric and acoustic guitars are completely different instruments. Different play styles, tonality, etc. Seems like she's trying to take some acoustic principles onto here but maybe i'm wrong but that's what it sounds like to me. She is much more suited to the acoustic than electric. Just my thought

  • @aznboy140 I see what you're saying. I still think it's a pretty good jazzy tune, though.

  • Kind of psychedelic! Love it!

  • there's nothing wrong with her voice, i actually think she has a beautiful voice

  • Someone get her and Jon Theodore together.

  • Omar vs. Kaki King

  • @a1gold176 Kaki King Vs GoldShleeb

  • @Phil39Tube Kaki King vs Kerry King

  • our Megan is going to make her look like such a dick sadly..oh well go Meg take USA, maybe better Europe, more loyalty perhaps

  • this is tragic, subdued and fucking boring

  • @leealpha2177 You're absolutely right.

  • @paddymoep id love to see you play anything at alll... this is in fact brilliant

  • @sydebewbzgigity This is AndyMcKee, only it is fucking lame.

  • @paddymoep @paddymoep in my opinion she is just as good as andy if not better..comparing this performance to him is ridiculous..his style is very repetitive, not saying its bad, whereas kaki's is more improv, she finds a system and flirts around with the concept. songs like 'pink noise and bone choas' i can see the resemblence but come on man, this performance is a perfect example of how she learns the song as she goes. its intoxicating..plus she sings. more than i can say for andy

  • @sydebewbzgigity Can't really say it's a good thing, because i think that women should only sing if they have a unique voice. Everything else sounds all the fucking same.

Also, this song is more than repetitive.

Andy also has some pieces that stand out of the normal AndyMcKee-scheme.

    For example, Art of Motion.

  • @paddymoep and i think that men should only sing if they have a unique thought. stick with justin bieber my friend.

  • @arnoldjoe9808 Anything is better than her voice, my friend.

  • @paddymoep you have no idea what your talking about.

  • @pyscobrand >your

One of these again? Are you trying to make me laugh?

  • @paddymoep Andy McKee doesn't do jazz...

And the only sonic resemblance between this and Art of Motion is that they both have guitars in them...

Either you're retarded or you're attempting troll.

  • @IsoMorphix I didn't compare them, idiot.

I said that Andy's song don't sound the fucking same.

How is this related to jazz in any way, anyway?

    >trololololo.jpg

  • @paddymoep Must have been drunk as fuck when I read your comment then. You're right, you didn't. Woops.

And it is jazz. Improvisational style, jazz instrumentation, intricate chord work. It's jazz. Sure it sounds bluesy. But it's jazz. Jazz after all, DID start out as a more intricate take on blues and ragtime.

  • @IsoMorphix You shall be forgiven, and i take the " idiot " back.

I listen to regular jazz, Lisa Simpson jazz one might call it.

I have a basic averseness to girls on guitars, either they play something that melts your face off, or they should stop doing it.

But that's not my point, i don't like her voice and this song overall.

  • @paddymoep Okay well that's a lot different than saying she sucks or is lame. Sure maybe her voice is a bit passive (like a lot of white jazz singers), and her "free jazz" soloing bits are bit weird, but if you watch her play elsewhere, she's very talented. A lot better than I think any of us are.

You were like, outright declaring her shittiness as a fact instead of stating that it was just a personal thing.

  • For instance: Women singers in rock sort of annoy me in general. I hate Paramore for that reason, and I really hate Flyleaf too. Can't stand that shit. Doesn't make them bad at what they do.

I will say there are some awesome women singers going right now, my favorites being the Quin sisters (Tegan & Sara) and Emily Haines from Metric.

  • @IsoMorphix I'd like to add Bôa to that list. Best female voice in my opinion.

Also, Gwen Stefani is fun listening to. It's different to that kesha-pop-singing, not in the least annoying and somewhat funny. And then there's Arch Enemy..

  • @IsoMorphix Andy McKee does do jazz, i'm not sure which albums you've been listening too

  • @paddymoep This is nothing like Andy McKee. She has a full band, is using an electric guitar (albeit hollowbodied), and has a more improvisational blues style. McKee is purely acoustic folk instrumental. I vaguely see what you're trying to say, but you're comparing apples and oranges, and you just happen to not like oranges. Also, her vocals may not be anything super unique, but it's in tune and I feel like it fits the song really well.

  • @wetwilly0 You're right, it's nothing like Andy McKee.

Not only i don't like her style ( what the hell is that part at 3:16 and 3:24? this is neither improvisational nor in any way good sounding ), her voice isn't the best to me either.

She should shut up. I hope she doesn't sing in her other songs.

  • @paddymoep Part 3:16-3:24 is played as it is on the studio recording. Granted she isn't a great singer (though her voice is beautiful on the studio recordings), but neither was Hendrix. Hendrix never wanted to sing but was convinced by a manager that he was good enough to not need a frontman to steal the thunder from his guitar playing. It was the right advice there, and I think the same applies to Kaki King. Plus, many singers sound terrible on amateur live video. Many don't play her complexity

  • @ColdCalc If you compare her singing to Jimi Hendrix', i'd always take Jimi Hendrix.

She sings quiet so probably her singing more loudly doesn't sound any good.

Jimi didn't whisper into the mic.

Also, many don't play Hendrix' complexity.

That doesn't mean Hendrix is better than 'em all.

  • @paddymoep That "part" is something you have to understand. Like in all great mediums, tension builds an interesting atmosphere. That "part" is called tension. If you noticed, right after she played that the song had begun to end.

  • @evilnarc She just playing random shit to sound different.

This has no musical value and shouldn't be interpreted, for it has no tension at all.

She playes quiet, she sings quiet. She could've come up with something better than this.

  • @paddymoep Wow since when were you the leading authority on music? I'd like to see your diplomas and shit that give you the authority to rule out something's worth!

  • @evilnarc So do i.

  • @evilnarc who cares if one random person doesn't like this shit, or bashes it...what worth does paddymoep have to you and your life? about the same amount that kaki king has to his. WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS, DEAL WITH IT. for the record, have the shit she played was not in key and was not played tastefully, i think she was trying to sound crazy and different for the hell of it, and it was NOT that good.

  • @paddymoep

    Haha you are worthless

  • @a1gold176 Internet tough guy is internet and tough.

  • @paddymoep

Internet smart guy is not too bright

  • @paddymoep Granted, some of her stuff is like McKee, and she may not be as good at it as he is, but she's an awesome guitarist still!

  • @paddymoep you...same responce

  • @leealpha2177 I think it was supposed to be tragic. I mean is that not fairly obvious? I thought it was.

  • lol im not saying shes not talented but it would appear that everything she plays sounds very accidental and just clumsy and does a really really bad attempt at trying to pull an andy mckee lol someone please tell me how she was gotten so mcuh attention and fame? lol im confused lol

  • @mmmbrewster You're confused because you're a stupid cunt.

  • @InsomniaDonkey wow lmao, really? Pretty die hard fan eh? lol Idk, to be honest I felt kinda bad about saying anything after I had already left a comment, I should have just kept that opinion to myself. I think shes deff talented in the sense that she has a good choice in unique progressions, fingerstyle patterns etc, im just saying there appears to be a wave of musicians these days suddenly overnight theyre famous through marketing etc, i just dont think theyre worthy yet lol

  • @mmmbrewster Listen to her other stuff - especially her second album. Then, you'll understand.

  • @lunchmeat317 will do, and im sure thats probably true, theres alot of her music that I find interesting, my thing is i was just interested in all the hype I was coming across, naturally curious about it. Theres alot of people getting all this hype, interviews etc, suddenly on tour, that just didnt really have to work as hard as you used to, to get to a place where they deserve that reconition. Shes got a signature guitar out, etc, I had to see what its all about lol.

  • i like her nails i want her to scratch my back as she sings to me!

  • Love the tone. Like a cross between this loungy feel and some bluesy jazz thing going on. Caresses the guitar with her fingers and even her breast. If you notice her right one hangs over the body of her guitar. It's as if it's another part of her body that love the guitar and is knowingly holding it in place while she strums. Simply beautiful in every way. I just discovered her tonight and am glad I did.

  • @musicgladiator

    Pervert!

  • @Jouwl no no no......not at all. Someone that loves good things is not perverse in anyway. I'm merely commenting on what I see. How is that so perverse? I don't get it.

  • @musicgladiator

I didn't say it was perverse to love good things.

I called you a pervert because you paid a lot of attention to the whereabouts of her breasts. This is something a pervert would do. Normal-ish people who do this should be very rare, so it would be unreasonable for me to assume you're one of them.

So, you must be a pervert. :-)

  • @musicgladiator

Actually I take back what I said. You're a man and obviously not afraid of being judged by anonymous internet users.

I do however, think that you should lace your thoughts with tact. It's a bit tasteless to comment on a musicians physical appearance in the intimate way you did.

Mjeah. My dad liked to comment a bit TOO much on womens' looks, so I might be biased here.

Even so it's probably a good bias. :-)

  • such beautiful, innocent voice she has :)

  • Szarkirály!

  • i like when she wears her glasses

  • @nady22

    you have glass fetish?

  • omgahd i think im in love... she plays bomb guitar and she has an angelic voice

    wow my guitar playing sucks

  • Dam! Anybody want to buy a guitar?

  • dang, her nails are nasty -.- but she's still beautiful

  • @gabrielapaolapuche but they're fake. ;)

    ...right?

  • @ROCKoutPLZZZ yeah, those are acrylic.

  • @gabrielapaolapuche

    Those are acrylic!

  • bahbahBOOM!

  • I love how john mayer dates bimbos...

  • Blown!

  • It's quite good really.. raw yes.. smoky yes.. blues like it's meant to be.. I thought she handled breaking a string rather well

  • Robert Fripp fan???

  • She is amazing. Yeh I play guitar, been earning my living doing it a long time but she is just awesome.

  • SHE'S SO GOOD.

  • I'm glad i was introduced to this girl. Glad to see something original. Now I'm not reffering to mainstream, I just mean this is fresh and beautiful hah.

  • I play, and i like Kaki king but I didnt like this. seemed unpolished to me.

  • @DonzeJ It's a live performance and she's singing at the same time. I was pretty drawn into it, and frankly, I like this performance better than the studio recorded version: it seems so raw, untainted, dark; especially the slide she puts into the main riff, it makes the Blues sort of "slick" sound to it, giving the song more character, and enhancing the vibrancy of her voice. Very well complimented.

Doesn't matter about being "polished," it's music. She's expressing herself, not impressing you.

  • To those commenting on her playing.Pleas post your playing.Lets see if you can play at all.One might wonder, if you are spending your time writing ill informed comments on a very talented young lady.Lets see what others say about your playing. You might want to read what they said about virtually every great jazz musician that ever lived when they came on the scene.

    Keep it up young lady.Authentic.Exciting.

  • @vinnothelizard 'Rubbish"...Ha ha ha! Listen to you and your tiny penis.

  • She shouldn't sing. But stick to playing.

  • People always ask me why I have long nails on one hand and short on the other. I send them links to this song.

  • @shelovesrockandroll that happens to me too.

  • see girls can kick ass at guitar too.

  • i think her voice is awesome, and she handles the mis-tuning very well and her licks are wild! sexy!

  • @GODDOMOTFRONK

I think there's just not enough women guitar player and singers so you automatically compare her to one good and well known one. Actually i think this girl plays better than cat power, and she just happens to be singing lightly in that way that cat power does on this one song. Not a rip-off at all.

  • @GODDOMOTFRONK shut up fag

  • @GODDOMOTFRONK

Your asshat has slipped down over your eyes.

  • @GODDOMOTFRONK lolumad

  • @GODDOMOTFRONK if you post something that rivals this even nearly, i will come to your place of residence and suck your fucking dick, no matter how tiny it is. unitl then, shut the fuck up because this woman is an enchantress and as per your impression upon everyone here, you are an asshole. on another note, you owe much of what you love about music to jazz. go educate yourself, fuckhead.

  • @GODDOMOTFRONK let's not detract now. how much oral sex either of us performs on anyone has nothing to do with the fact that you're an ignorant fuck. either that or you had a traumatic experience as a child that caused an irrational fear of a beautiful art form that influenced every real musician to date. or you're just annoying troll who doesn't even know anything about any kind of music in the first place. but i stray from the real point here: shut the fuck up and go away. you're annoying.

  • that maybe the best lead-in i've ever heard to any argument... dont know who it was directed at... but they lose.

  • @GODDOMOTFRONK you are so useless

  • dulce

  • How did John Mayer get pulled into this thread? Kaki has a unique style, while Mayer is so busy being a celebrity, he's become a pedestrian at best on guitar. And if Kaki is playing off here, it's intentional. It's part of the sound of this style of jazz.

  • She does not have a great voice but the Guitar is AWESOME.

  • hot damn...she popped a string..lol

  • ah ah boobs attraction again...

  • @megadeth2007 hahahahaha

  • amazing ♥

  • Her best song

  • I like how people said the jazz solos are off. haha I've heard a lot of jazz musicians play that way, I even play that style a bit. It's just a more abstract way of playing.

  • nice girl, nice guitar, nice play and even further nice voice :P :P :P i dont see this but i can fall in love :(

  • it's love kaki

  • Very iconic, moody, soulful, and inspirational. I love Kaki on the guitar. What an amazing guitarist.

  • i like it... but there's nothing here i couldn't play myself... i think she should have used her percussive style a little more

  • @lukeism2 the art lays in playability, thats why minimalism and surrealism is respected art ! and well its true that its most important, that any random guy is able to play it. composing is nothing, playablitiy guys, it has to fit !

  • @uLat0R .... it was odd... slightly off... kind of bad jazz, but yes... only my opinion... i just see brilliance in the jazz improvs john mayer does at the start of neon in LA etc... and the solos... and no i'm not joking, and i think it completely out classes this stuff

  • @lukeism2 I agree about the Mayer intro, but the actual song 'Neon' sucks. Kaki King's style is way more innovative, this non-precussive song included. Mayer merely mixes a century of guitar history and pop/blues/rock licks together and sings with that fake smoky voice he does. He does what he does well, but Kaki King at least makes a guitar sounds new. tho, I'd agree the 'jazz' solos are just off or random here.

  • @Burntlicious heh fake smoky voice... it's actually quite hard to replicate, but um, yeah he doesn't have any gravel or operatic gymnastics like jeff buckley...

hmm, i listened to the song again.. i still kinda cringe a bit... it reminds me of those fake shred videos that st sanders does over slash and eric clapton... hahaha

  • Her nails. Hehe. (:

    She's so fantastic.

I wish I could play guitar like that.

  • Well... maybe that's just your opinion...

  • Yeah, she's really well-rounded. And I love her voice

  • Yo this chick is on FIRE

  • m m m i don´t like it :S

  • she's pretty multi-talented. to go from the instrumental acoustic style to this jazz/blues fusion. she has shoegaze undertones on her new stuff too. true artist.

  • amazing!

  • I love that sliding into the tritone lick/this whole thing/everything she's ever done.

  • That's it !! I'm done, , No more guitar for me ! Kaki's AMAZING, love it !

  • San Francisco has some really nice radios there... live music, even Mexican salsa & stuff, not like the 15 "currently hot" tracks they play over and over again in my city *envious*
