To be honest, I really liked Deep Blue Sea, sure not very original, pretty silly, but it's a good homage and a fun B-movie with thrills. Both Thomas Jane and LL CoolJ were the highlights acting wise.

I agree with everything you said, but I knew the movie was stupid before I watched it. I wasn't expecting a great movie - I enjoyed it because I spent the whole time laughing at how stupid it was. Sometimes I like watching stupid movies so that I can laugh at them.

I'm sure filmmakers are aware of this, and this expectation probably causes them to do silly things and make ridiculous movies - They probably try too hard to make a better shark movie than Jaws. They need to focus more on character development, plot, dialogue and less time trying to make the "best shark movie ever".

The biology of the animal also limits the ways in which it can be used. Compared to a serial killer for instance, a shark has to be in the water and all movies involving them are going to have similar themes. That doesn't give Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus any excuses however!
Many people state that Deep Blue Sea is the best shark movie ever. I don't think so. I've only seen this film because I'm a huge fan of Jacqueline McKenzie but she dies too soon. As a whole, this movie never impressed me much.

Jaws is awesome. one of the best films ever. Jaws 2 was alright, I liked the scenes on land more so than the shark attacks. However Jaws 3D and The Revenge I thought were awful. lol I don't see how you like Jaws 3D but every mans got there opinion.

The blowing-up death of the final mako shark isn't the only Jaws copy. All three makos die in the same way and order as the sharks from the first, second, and third Jaws movies-the first is blown up, the second is jabbed in the mouth with an electrical cord, and the third is blown up.
It WAS kind of burned to death, but the reason it couldn't just swim underwater was because it had turned on the gas by ramming the oven, so when the guy threw his lighter, it ignited the gas, killing the shark in a big fiery explosion.
This film sucks, sucks, sucks. There are many scenes that really pissed me off. One of the main ones haveing the blasted animals the ability to swim backwards. I mean come on people that is stupid beyond belief. Not to mention making the damn things ultra smart. It's like saying, "Hey I know, lets make the perfect killing machine more deadly, it's only for medical research to find a cure, no harm will come of it " God that woman was sooo stupid, to prove it, the shark killed her, that's justice

I don't mind the women's death scene. I just didn't get to see the crotch biting in the tv version. Was surprised when I saw it.

If hes dodging the shark hes moving pretty god damn fast in an environment hes not very well adapted for in order to dodge a super mako shark, which is normally known for being pretty damn fast before "enhancements". I can memorize the path of a bullet too but I'm not gonna be able to dodge the damn thing when someone shoots it at me.
i tihnk there supposed to actully be great whites but since there brain enhancement grew bigger than that. This bit makes me laugh to "somehow throws it"........... All it did was swim fast then get close and let go, you will still move underwater even if your not moving yourself......not hard. get someone to push you then stop you will keep moving. the shark ll cool j kills is about to attack him when he throws the lighter, they may be smart but still dont know that gas + flame = death to shark
1. Characters mention that they're enhanced Makos.
2. Water molecules are a lot harder to move in than air molecules and if you push something in water it will stop moving pretty damn quickly. Its hardly a vacuum. Hence my disbelief that the shark could launch the thing hard enough to make it hit it.
3. The shark eats the parrot after being completely submerged in the water. Suddenly he can't go back underwater if hes on fire? Its major scenic inconsistency or a suddenly stupid shark.
You have this storrrrryy sooooooo wrong, well not the story line but the way your seeing it.
first of they dont just eat other sharks hence they attack the humans in the station! secondly they arnt specificlly engeniered to "do stuuf there not supposed to" thats just a side effect of having an enhanced brain! ok this bit makes me laugh "hanging out in the air".......... There moving it into the water.... sharks, like all creatures can hold there breath...not hard. To be continued
1. I think its established that they feed them other sharks because its the only thing they'll eat. Apparently they hadn't tried humans yet.
2. Having an enhanced brain isn't going to suddenly allow a shark to do something it's body can't physically do. If I get smarter I'm not going to suddenly be able to lift 500 pounds on the bench press.
3. Go dunk your head under water for 20 minutes and hold your breath. Not possible? Thats what I thought of the amount of time it spent in air.
You unbelievable idiot. If you think the main idea for finding the cure to the world's deadliest memory loss disease in a shark's brain is a bad plot, you don't know fucking movies. The story is brilliant. You think the chick should have been electrocuted because..... Why? You do know that it was a rubber wet suit right? Anyway, mega bullshit. I own the film, and I did not hear that cheesey line at the end of the film, so try again.
She was standing on a table on top of her folded up wet suit so she was able to rip the cable off the wall (Adrenaline strength I expect) The current would be travelling through her to the rubber wet suit. Wet or not, it's rubber, and it just blocks it. Once the cable was in the shark's mouth and the shark was half under-water, then you've got me how she got out of the room.
Carter's line was necessary because otherwise, in Ocean terms, the water hadn't been very deep at only 230ft.

Oh boy, perhaps I'm being overly critical but a lot the shark movies out there you should see just for their B movie style. Aside from Jaws I really can't recomment a quality shark film. I did enjoy the tv mini series adaption of White Shark (originally a Peter Benchley novel).
I was very disappointed by Open Water. The sharks seemed purposely agitated for shots, the characters annoying, and the ending ruined it for me. I won't go into it here to avoid spoilers.
Best shark moment ever, when Samuel Jackson made that big speech about fighting back, then the shark within a second pops out of the water, bites him and drags him under.

While I'm here, just a quick gripe about these Retrospective Youtube movie reviews.
Why do reviewers insist on spending 10 minutes recapping the enitre films plot when the chances are you've already seen the film?
I dount there are many viewers out there who would look for a film released before they were born.
I only watch these reviews to watch someone ribbing on awful films.

The blowing-up death of the final mako shark isn't the only Jaws copy. All three makos die in the same way and order as the sharks from the first, second, and third Jaws movies-the first is blown up, the second is jabbed in the mouth with an electrical cord, and the third is blown up.

It WAS kind of burned to death, but the reason it couldn't just swim underwater was because it had turned on the gas by ramming the oven, so when the guy threw his lighter, it ignited the gas, killing the shark in a big fiery explosion.

This film sucks, sucks, sucks. There are many scenes that really pissed me off. One of the main ones haveing the blasted animals the ability to swim backwards. I mean come on people that is stupid beyond belief. Not to mention making the damn things ultra smart. It's like saying, "Hey I know, lets make the perfect killing machine more deadly, it's only for medical research to find a cure, no harm will come of it " God that woman was sooo stupid, to prove it, the shark killed her, that's justice

yeeee.... the samual L jackson speach is a bit bad ill admit to that. ye the womans half way in the mouth as the sharks jumps up to get her. She shoves the cord into the water and standing on a RUBBER suit will not take the shock science lesson 1. the shark eating the stupid woman was fuuuuunnny. He cant out swim any shark, he learns the shark striking pattern wich is the same even for a super shark so he uses this to time a dodge. and thats how YOUR WRONG. I don't mind the women's death scene. I just didn't get to see the crotch biting in the tv version. Was surprised when I saw it.
2. If hes dodging the shark hes moving pretty god damn fast in an environment hes not very well adapted for in order to dodge a super mako shark, which is normally known for being pretty damn fast before "enhancements". I can memorize the path of a bullet too but I'm not gonna be able to dodge the damn thing when someone shoots it at me.

i tihnk there supposed to actully be great whites but since there brain enhancement grew bigger than that. This bit makes me laugh to "somehow throws it"........... All it did was swim fast then get close and let go, you will still move underwater even if your not moving yourself......not hard. get someone to push you then stop you will keep moving. the shark ll cool j kills is about to attack him when he throws the lighter, they may be smart but still dont know that gas + flame = death to shark

1. Characters mention that they're enhanced Makos.
2. Water molecules are a lot harder to move in than air molecules and if you push something in water it will stop moving pretty damn quickly. Its hardly a vacuum. Hence my disbelief that the shark could launch the thing hard enough to make it hit it.
3. The shark eats the parrot after being completely submerged in the water. Suddenly he can't go back underwater if hes on fire? Its major scenic inconsistency or a suddenly stupid shark.

You have this storrrrryy sooooooo wrong, well not the story line but the way your seeing it.
first of they dont just eat other sharks hence they attack the humans in the station! secondly they arnt specificlly engeniered to "do stuuf there not supposed to" thats just a side effect of having an enhanced brain! ok this bit makes me laugh "hanging out in the air".......... There moving it into the water.... sharks, like all creatures can hold there breath...not hard. To be continued

1. I think its established that they feed them other sharks because its the only thing they'll eat. Apparently they hadn't tried humans yet.
2. Having an enhanced brain isn't going to suddenly allow a shark to do something it's body can't physically do. If I get smarter I'm not going to suddenly be able to lift 500 pounds on the bench press.
3. Go dunk your head under water for 20 minutes and hold your breath. Not possible? Thats what I thought of the amount of time it spent in air.

She was wet, the wet suit was wet having just been in the water, shes still surrounded by water. I think its a huge suspension of disbelief.

She was standing on a table on top of her folded up wet suit so she was able to rip the cable off the wall (Adrenaline strength I expect) The current would be travelling through her to the rubber wet suit. Wet or not, it's rubber, and it just blocks it. Once the cable was in the shark's mouth and the shark was half under-water, then you've got me how she got out of the room.
Carter's line was necessary because otherwise, in Ocean terms, the water hadn't been very deep at only 230ft.

Oh boy, perhaps I'm being overly critical but a lot the shark movies out there you should see just for their B movie style. Aside from Jaws I really can't recomment a quality shark film. I did enjoy the tv mini series adaption of White Shark (originally a Peter Benchley novel).
I was very disappointed by Open Water. The sharks seemed purposely agitated for shots, the characters annoying, and the ending ruined it for me. I won't go into it here to avoid spoilers.
