  • For some reason you look more like a Valerie, umm go figure, lol

  • I know how you feel. This is my 1st year of university & in high school I was always physically active. On the vball, bball & soccer teams. Now... It's different & I miss that sense of discipline.

  • Hey Naptural85! I love your channel and you give out the best advice on hair, but I'm just now noticing these videos on a healthy lifestyle. I've been really struggling to keep up with a workout program. I take a pilates class, but that's only two days out of the week and I wanted some advice on some workouts that I can do in my dorm room that could help get me in shape. :)

  • I love your healthy tips

  • Great advice! I love your hair as well!

  • I have not used the Nikon D3100 to shoot a video yet. Your videos are crystal clear. I'll make it a purpose to give it a try. I guess I've been distracted by not having a flip out screen so I can monitor. How do you work around that? Mirrors?

Now I really need to drink more water but it is hard when sodas just calling my name but I've been doing better. Thanks for the video.

  • dear naptural. i would like to know what is the best shampoo to use to wash chlorine from your natural hair?

  • This tip definitely works. In the spring, I brought 6 water bottles from the store and I've been drinking water more often. I refill them every night before I go bed. Drinking too much water gives me a stomach ache so, I only drink about 4 bottles a day. Anywho, Thanks for sharing. I 100% co-sign.

  • I drink at least half my weight in water. I weight 140 but I do at least 100 oz a day. I take 2 1 liter bottles to wrk and when I come home I drink another liter. One way to get water in is lemon and stevia. It helps those who are not used to drink water and it's like a treat.

  • Came back to say your advice WORKS! Not to gross you out but i sincerely am liking the results i'm getting when i urinate. Clear and odorless :-)

  • @DearNaptural85 thanks for the advice!!!! i will do that more often!!! and mmmm i love Sumatra!! now you've got me craving coffee!! well at least i know i can drink water to balance it out :)

  • Thanks for the tips. I totally agree about the exercise. If I don't do it or slack off I feel really sluggish but once I get back into the routine my energy picks right up.

  • Hi! I am currently 17 months natural and in transition of using all natural products for my hair. I have seen the improvement in just one month and its fantastic. so i came up with the theory if i eat organic i will feel much better and lose & keep off the weight. Can you PLEASE send me some type of guidelines I can use in transitioning to a healthier lifestyle without the crash and fail method...lol. Thanx! and stay Blessed!

  • Have you ever heard of the Bobble? I found out about it in a class I was taking, it's the BOMB. It's a water bottle with a filter inside, so you can literally fill up the bottle anywhere, anytime from faucets and water fountains. Google it!

My water intake has never been higher! ♪Love it♫

  • Great tips. Fyi, you can also get some of your daily water intake through fruits such as melons, grapes, or other fruits and veggies that have a high water content. But I have to say, nothing beats H2O. Also, for those who have a hard time drinking water, they can add sugar free flavor packets such as Crystal light (not koolaid) to make water drinking more fun. = }

  • i'm trying to drink more water but do you have any tips for someone who trying to start working out as far as a schedule? thanks!

  • I love water and drink it all the time and I had the same problem this week. Mainly because I was working out and NOT drinking. Someone even went as far as to tell me that I drink TOO MUCH WATER!!! WHat the WHat, I thought so yeah I feel you on not feeling 100% yourself.

  • I crashed and burned recently, was doing crossfit, running, etc and just stopped about 2 months ago, eating whatever, whenever. I feel like crap now, always tired, not wanting to do anything...i'm starting back up next week. I feel loads better mentally and physically when i'm on my training schedule.

I dread the first couple of days back on the water schedule, i'm gonna be hanging close to the ladies room lol

  • If getting the required amount of water daily is challenging, try increasing your consumption of fruits & vegetables that have a high water content; eg tomatoes, cucumbers, iceberg lettuce, cantaloupe, watermelon, honey dew melons etc

either way you would meet you daily fluid needs.

  • This is great advice & very much appreciated!

  • I LUv water lol

  • BTW, I have a gallon of water by my desk at work! I drink a whole gallon a day!

  • I received that camera for mother's day!!!!!! I love it to bits and pieces!!!!!

  • ps.. when do we get to see the baby vids lol cant wait until that day :)

  • Big save NAP girl I was feeling tired and depressed but I know it's because I don't do much during the day and not enough water.. sometimes I like water and sometimes I don't.. I guess it's about forcing myself up and out and gulp gulp lol

  • I know exactly how you feel...I have 4 children but am still athletic and love to workout...but those 4 sometimes make it so hard for me to workout...and I will feel it..so I get dat work out in as much as I can as often as I can and yes all that water is wonderful....It really does a body good!....now pass it on!

  • Water is amazing! Does the body great! I'm on my 3rd liter for the day!

  • I'm the same way! I just got back into the gym myself after much neglect due to school work and work...work. It's an INSTANT mood boost, and I feel like I need it. Otherwise when I'm not exercising and eating well I feel like something's not quite....clicking.

  • GIRL yo hair is CUTE!

  • You are such an athlete lol. My cousin lost most of her muscle and didn't really gain any weight while pregnant, post baby she looked smaller. She said she needed to work out to get "thick-n-fine" lol. One of my coworkers was saying how she is out of shape YET looks well toned in my book. That, I would say is one great thing about you athletes is knowing how to keep your body "right" and having the discipline to do it.

  • Do you buy bottled water or do you use a filter?? (btw, Is that a regular pitcher behind you or is it a sort of filter?). I'm trying to figure the best way to go with water, currently drinking only bottled (no tap, eww!) but i know the plastic is not really good for us...

    Great vid :-)

  • love me some water....also i'm so HAPPY to see that bpa free plastic bottles are popping up everywhere now...i even found a huge one (for juice) at walmart. I got a 320z bpa free bottle at whole foods...fill it up and try to drink at least 2 a day.....

  • @stop08it oh really? that's good to know! Do you fill it with tap water though?

  • thanx for the tip, Lord knows most of us don't drink enough water, especially now that the summer is fast approaching!!! BTW i'd really like to know what you use as your motivation to go to the gym, cause I really have a hard time with that! I really do need to go back cause even though i'm slim i'm really out of shape and my energy is way down low!! Any advice you can offer would be great!!

  • Bewarrreee Ladies!! PLEEAASSEEE don't let plastic bottles stay in your car during the heat! Throw that crap out if you forget. Cancer causing toxins from the plastic end up in the water =( look for BPA free reusables. Never resuse those little plastic bottles from the 24/28 packs. Don't believe me? GOOGLE IT.

  • Great tip! Before I was buying two cases of water. I would keep a case in my car and then one in the house. I would never have an excuse not to have water on me, especially in Texas. Now i do the reusable water bottle. Its cheaper and earth friendly.

  • Wow, who could dislike a reminder to get exercise and drink water? That's so basic for keeping up your health. I hope you make more videos about health!

  • This is so true! At one point, I wasn't able to work out for a week and I felt sooo BLAH! Exercise has become a part of my life! I also only drink water (and milk), soda or juice only makes me more thirsty.

  • Great video. I find that as I exercise more (Zumba, dance and boxercise), my body wants more water. I usually drink 2 litres a day and now I need more. I also find I am more energetic. Thank you Nap for sharing.

  • Its funny that you are talking about water! I just found out that we are supposed to have half our body weight in ounces of water. I always thought it was 64 for everyone unltil I spoke to a nutritionalist about healthy hair/organic foods

  • This video really hit home for me. I'm an ex-athlete and I have always worked out until this past year. Life happened and I lost focus and stopped. I turned one of my bedrooms into a workout room but it DOES NOT compare to "going to the gym". I started my gym membership today and had the BEST workout ever. I told a friend that I felt like I claimed my life back. I feel ya girl! LOL! I keep 2, 1 liter bottles of water and once they're done, I'm done. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Ok the hair is on point!!! I try to get all my water in at the beginning of the day...that way anything later (after work) is extra. Typical drinking half Ur body weight in oz is what's recommended...especially when working out. Glad Ur getting back to your BEST self! :)

  • Yes, I definitely needed this, I have had problems since I was a little child because I do not drink enough water. I try these days though... Thanks for this vid! <3

  • This is an awesome Video, this happens to me too when I dont' work out! I'm going to the Gym in the morning on this note!! lol..Thanks for posting..

  • Thanks for the motivation!

  • Yeah I keep a gallon of water right on top of my desk at work with a disposable cup next to it (that I reuse). Somehow pouring the water into a cup which I can gulp down makes it more fun & appetizing vs sipping from a blah, boring water bottle... which feels like a chore because it takes forever to sip the quantity you need. Thanks for sharing :)

  • Thanks for the reminder! Be healthy! Blessings...

  • You should make a videos about your eating habits. People are really getting into healthy lifestyle living.

  • I agree 100%, exercising does make a difference.

  • ~more videos of working out to show what style one wore, if it was able to withstand the workout ....etc.

  • Hey Pevebra1! No prob! <3

  • I hope this is the start of more videos about health. Not just from you but from all natural hair vloggers. Its so important to understand that healthy hair is so much more than what you put on it. Your diet, and attitude plays a major role also. Kudos to you for sharing this. I'm hoping I will see more videos of workouts (not "walking 2 miles while talking on the cell phone" type of wrkouts) I mean strength training, cardio and the works!

  • Lol, thanks Pevebra1! Yea, I've got some things in the works, just waiting to figure out the logistics of it all, but hoping to get some vids up soon. I'm living alone right now, so I have to wait until I'm back home w/ my hubby to get someone to film it <3

  • @DearNaptural85 Cool beans!

  • @Pevebra1 I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS!! Great video, thanks :-D

  • @Pevebra1 I agree...

  • watching this as i sip on a good ole pepsi

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla LOL!! Do your thing girl! <3 <3 <3

  • check with your doctor before starting anything. I was hospitalized last year due to a drop in my salt level because I was drinking too much water. 64oz I believe is what I was drinking a day. 3 days in the hospital along with shots and upset stomach was not fun. Water is necessary. Thanks again for the video.

  • Hey ichoose2bhappy! Definitely a great point! Too much water can def be bad for you, so make sure you're not over doing it for your personal physical needs! <3

  • @ichoose2bhappy I agree. A nutritionist just recently told me that it's near impossible for the average person to not intake enough salt since it's basically in everything. I know there's some weight based formula that you can use to help you figure out how much water you should be drinking, but I can't remember what it is. I know that I don't get nearly as much water as I should and I'm working on that along with cutting out all sugar.

  • You may want to invest in a Bobble. It's a water bottle with a filter it's great for the environment

  • Hey tla925! I'm so afraid of those water bottle w/ filters! I don't know, it's something about that filter being so close to my mouth that freaks me out! Like what if it breaks!? Or if the filter starts leaking!? lol, I know, it's crazy.. but I just don't like the thought of those filter water bottles. But I like to use my large Brita filter and just fill up my Nalgene bottles in the morning so I don't throw away plastic <3

  • You know , I really need to drink more water but it sucks because I don't really like it that much. I only drink it in the middle of the night or if I'm extremely parched and I'm never usually extremely parched. I really need to get it together though .

  • Hey dizzydija! You know, they say not to wait until your thirsty to drink water bc if you're thirsty, you are dehydrated. It's funny bc I used to hate to drink water too, but if you force yourself to drink at least 3 pints of water a day for two weeks straight, you'll notice that your body will start to crave water, and you'll actually start enjoying the taste of it and want to drink more! <3

  • @DearNaptural85 I think I might take a 2 week challenge to see if that really works haha

  • Hey Naptural85! Question: Do you drink anything else besides water??? Not soda perhaps, but maybe milk???

    Love your vids!!!

  • Hey msyazzyj30! Yup! On a daily basis, I drink water and milk. That's what I buy at the grocery store... and sometimes wine. If I'm out at a restaurant I'll usually get a mixed drink or glass of wine, but that's only when I'm eating out (then the healthy eating usually goes out the window). But I don't drink/purchase sodas. And rarely will I buy juice; it's usually just water, and milk. <3 <3

  • @DearNaptural85 Thanks!!!! <3 I'm trying to drink more water, but Coca-Cola and Starbucks Coffee, I must admit, are my guilty pleasures lol!

  • @msyazzyj30 Lol! Oh man, did someone say Coffee!??!? I LOVE coffee too! But that's okay, for every cup of coffee just drink 2 cups of water to balance it out! Mmmmm, I can smell the Sumatra right now!! <3

  • I loove the music in your background! Its soo relaxing! Great vid Gorgeous!

    ♥♥♥♥♥ Viva

  • Thanks vivathedivaTV !! <3

  • Cheers!

  • @DancingChakra Cheers! <3

  • Wait you drink a gallon of water a day??

  • Hey cheeseysmilez16! I used to when I was training! I actually think it was probably more than a gallon.... But it's actually quite easy to do. If you have the water in front of you, you will ALWAYS drink it! So that's the tip! Give it a try! Of course, I drink a lot bc I am sweating it out. If you aren't doing extensive exercise, a gallon isn't necessary, but you can try the smaller 3 pint containers of water you buy @ the grocery store <3 <3
