my daughter and I have started watching Dirtgirl World on Sprout in the US. She loves it, and I enjoy the music. The show is a refreshing change. Well done Cate
My little boy loves your show. I understand that YOU do the singing on dirtgirlworld Cate... I frigging adore your vocals! You have a wonderful wonderful glorious voice.
Well done to you and Hewey on creating dgw and writing the songs. Congratulations on "Every Little Drop", winning the children’s music category of the International Songwriting Competition. Well deserved! The best of success to you both and the dgw team... more please.
Are you able to post a particular song segment? it's actually featured in your montage: it has dirtgirl singing about her "orange tractor" - orange being the key word of the day, I'd imagine. It was some pretty catchy, music chart worthy, rock'n electro-pop. Thanks.
the characters' looks needed some getting used to from me because it's so different, but now i like it all the same. i mainly watch it for the songs :9
o no, i just read the comments from all the haters... i really hope you dont change the animation because of all their "crying" Cate!! oh and are you the singer/ voice behind dirtgirl?
i just saw this on sprout with my daughter, she loved it cause she likes worms and other bugs, i gotta say i LOVE the animation! i like the main characters facial expresssions they're soo cute!
great job Cate, and to all the others who made this show possible, its got a great lesson and a cute original look.
Earth Greetings love dirtgirlworld because it teaches kids to understand & respect nature!
We're so excited to have just launched 'dirtgirlworld by earth greetings' range of 100% recycled kids birthday cards & party invitations! Keep up the gorgeous work Cate!
First time i caught it i was having a smoke and watching kids cartoons on ABC.
I was sold as soon as i heard the theme song. Dirtgirl has the most adorable voice and the photo-montage effect with the superimposed faces looks awesome. Grubby is my favorite character, she's always coming up with the coolest stunts.
While we're on the subject of twisted kids shows; Anyone remember plasmo?
This show comes on and I am hypnotised! Unlike some of these comments I like the expressions. They're really theatrical. Her mouth moves like Tim Curry haha! Pretty eyes too :P My three kids love it so I have the excuse to watch when they start yelling "DIRTGIRL'S ON!!! DIRTGIRL'S ON!!" :P And as a musician, the songs ROCK! @Catemcquillen, Have you guys recorded music other than for DGW that is available? Tunes are so catchy and your voice is perfect! I'd listen to anything you sing on.
This program isnt both my daughters' fav which is ok...they first thought it was scary...lol. I personally dislike it!! My personal opinion it kinda freaks me out. But childrens' opinion matter the most!!
There is something deeply deeply sinister about this show. It's creepy. It's not right. I caught it by accident this morning and was so shaken I had to switch over to GMTV.

My daughter love this show. We waited with anticipation for the first episode, and were very pleased. The characters are very cute, the songs are infectious, specially the title song well done!! We tivo so we never miss it. Great message about eating healthy and the world around you for our little ones.
my 1 yo granddaughter just loves Dirtgirl world, the song "whatever weather" is our favorite, but I cannot find it on a video or anywhere. And just for the record, this show needs to be much much longer, here in Ohio it lasts about 10-15 min, way too short. And get her out on video, please
I need the DVDs in a hurry. My one year old grandson watches it all day. I have them saved and plays them over and over. When it goes off, he gets mad and start fussing in his language. He actually sits still and watches it. He's not walking so when Dirtgirl starts singing, he turns around and around in cirlces on his ...bottom and laughs up a storm. It's hilarious. One day my 4 and 2 year old grandson came over while we were playing it. They screamed for me to play it again! It was partytime!

Thank you for uploading this. My daughter loves Dirt Girl. It's a great show for kids if any of these people complaining took the time to actually watch the show, they would see the educational value. Better than alot of the rubbish out there for kids. I just wish there was more of her on youtube.
@catemcquillen Animation/cartoons whatever you wanna call it has nothing to do with helping ones children learn how to respect the earth, that responsibility falls directly on the parents.
I watched some of the clips they have on Sprout with my one year old the other day. It took me a minute to get used to the faces. I think the almost lack of nose on Dirtgirl and the boy is the disturbing thing for me, but my son didnt mind. Then we listened to the songs. Very Good! My son sat still and watched the Good Morning Song and the Wild song and cried when I tried to watch something else. I would buy the music for myself.
@JanineRocks97 My 7yr old still loves dirtgirl. As a direct result, she is very interested in recycling and as a family we have become far more eco aware. We have nothing but positive things to say about the programme & its groundbreaking, innovative creative team. Cate & Huey, thank you & just keep being awesome. (ps: Please let us know when & where we can buy a Dirtgirlworld music cd! )

im looking for her water song!! "every little drip is a precious little drop, every tiny little drip of water, catch it if you can in a kettle or a pan cause you know thats what you oughta do!" i can't find it!!! my lil girl loves it
here's the thing... notice how your baby can't reach the top of his/her head? their heads are big!!! babies like to look at other babies. kids want to watch kids, adults want to watch adults. the kids watching this will think it's okay to be fun, expressive, and exuberant. you can have your stoic Andrew Carnegie looking dolls and you will have one boring kid.
The tractor song is a pretty good as a stand alone garage rock single, they should release it.
My 1-year-old son loves this show, as do my husband and I. The songs are really good and it's plain to see that a lot of thought and creativity went into the making of it. Thanks for a great show!
Its just the fact that for five years now the eyes on children's products have been getting bigger...and bigger, and AGAIN bigger----and when I saw the commercials for the debut of this show all I could think is WHAT IS GOING ON??? Nothing personal to the show itself but just trying to put it into more perspective from MY point of view, my dolls growing up looking like PEOPLE, check out a modern strawberry shortcake doll and compare-headup!
@revellanotvanella There have been many inspirations that have mixed with imaginations to create the dirtgirlworld look. A child of the 60s, I am inspired by Blythe dolls, over 40 years old ... as an educationalist I am inspired by the way kids start to draw people...huge heads with huge features and small bodies...nothing sinister going on, just art meets fun meets style meets big bold story telling, heart connecting and engaging with the audience in a face to face, soulful, personal way.
@catemcquillen it's a comment i hear from just about everyone when we wax lyrical about dirt girl to other mums and dads. they say "I'd love to watch it, but her eyes creep me out!" i think they wouldn't be so bad if they where just a little closer together rather than on the edges of her face.
@revellanotvanella You haven't owned a porcelain doll from the 1920's, have you? ;) Because of the thickness that porcelain needs to be so it won't be brittle, and because of mechanical eyes (think of dolls that shut their eyes when they lie down) Pre-world 2 war dolls have pretty much the same eye/head/body aspect ratio as Dirt Girl/Scrap Boy. Only until Barbie dolls came out they started looking realistic for a disturbing reason (HINT: It kept WW2 soldiers happy when they missed their wife.)
Hi there...feel free to check out a dirtgirlworld music video...little things....it's dirtgirl in avatar mode (not blue face ;-)) and her buddies exploring the notion that little things do make a big difference.A big welcome to everyone in the US who is tuning into dgw on Sprout and lovin' it!!!! We are so happy with the overwhelming positivity!
@catemcquillen thanks so much for the fantastic character dirtgirl!! Her enthusiastic voice and expressions are captivating. My son Colt loves dirtgirlworld, and I have to admit, I do to. We both love the song "go wild"! Please ignore, as I am sure you do, the negative comments found here. Some people simply lack taste, and class. One question, who is the voice of dirtgirl, both in dialogue as well as in the songs? Are they one in the same? Are they you?
@catemcquillen This show is so awesome, my 1 yo grand daughter(and me) just love it. Whatever weather is our favorite song but we cannot find it anywhere else. The show only lasts for 10-15 min, which it needs to be at least and hour show, thanks for Dirt Girl, we love it here in Ohio.
Just a reminder ppl. this is a program for kids mainly although adults can learn a thing or two it seems, such as not being so judgmental by appearance. I bet half the ppl that say this is creepy haven't even watch an episode. The point is if the children love it and learn the great values that it offers then its all thumbs up for the program..and by the way... they are. So BIG thumbs up to the creators!
@Peshay1 I think we all know it's for kids. Human curiosity made us watch it. I watched a full episode and thought it was interesting but still a bit creepy with the faces. It's just an opinion...nobody is really bashing the show that harshly.
Great news...dirtgirlworld has been nominated for a Logie...Australia TV award for outstanding children's program and a Prix Jeunesses Award...international children's TV award. Huge congratulations to the entire team.
It's interesting how most adults find the uncanny valley-ness of the "human" characters unnerving/repulsive while young children don't seem to mind it. I wonder at what age the "Uncanny valley" sense kicks in?
My 'baby' is 19, I have not even hooked up a digi converter box someone gave so I can watch TV but I want to see this show !
The visuals are stunning ,the concept ROCKS... being outdoors, growing food, making stuff out of junk...what on earth is there not to love here, wow.
At first I was a bit discouraged that it was not a US production, but then I thought how cool is that..we are all in this world together, so let's all get down and get to work on stuff that matters..no matter where we are.
@stupidlittleguitar Good on you for not letting its lack of American-ness discourage you, far too many people limit their worldview like that which only makes it harder for creations to get worldwide appeal!
This is supposed to come out the middle of April in the US and my 4 year old son absolutely loves the previews and the games on sprout online for dirtgirl. He loves the music and I think it's gonna be great!! I love the fact that she gets dirty and grows vegetables and drives a tractor too! Love it!!
Awesome Stuff - I wonder why people find this so freaky????? It might just connect people to what is needed to sustain living in the years to come. Get a grip, some of you.I see this is a creative piece of ART, made by people who care and have love for this Planet and are trying to teach young ones how to do that as well.Freaky or not .... I think it is a bit groovy ....Why not think outside that box for a bit, if that is possible? (oh I forgot ticktock make the world work )
listen to the bloody music and tune... this bloody rocks... you lot out there are so influnced by visuals fgs... the theme of the program is get yourself grubby and grow your your own food... ie gardening ffs.. plus i think the concept is wierd but nice in a wierd sort of way lol
Thanks for all the comments and support. As this is a clip that kids and families are enjoying For their protection of course, I have removed any post with inappropriate language, I hope you all understand as this is a preschool show, why that is necessary. Thanks
We are on air in Canada, soon in UK and Aus and have just got back from meetings with US broadcasters , so, fingers crossed and send happy thoughts. thanks for your comment. MIlo kisses Cate

It's interesting how most adults find the uncanny valley-ness of the "human" characters unnerving/repulsive while young children don't seem to mind it. I wonder at what age the "Uncanny valley" sense kicks in?

Congratulation on being nominated for a LOGIE Cate! How totally exciting

Its based on the creators childhood. I was in a Post Production studio yesterday where they re-dub the voices for the British version of the show.

My 'baby' is 19, I have not even hooked up a digi converter box someone gave so I can watch TV but I want to see this show !
The visuals are stunning ,the concept ROCKS... being outdoors, growing food, making stuff out of junk...what on earth is there not to love here, wow.
At first I was a bit discouraged that it was not a US production, but then I thought how cool is that..we are all in this world together, so let's all get down and get to work on stuff that matters..no matter where we are.
stupidlittleguitar 1 year ago
@stupidlittleguitar Good on you for not letting its lack of American-ness discourage you, far too many people limit their worldview like that which only makes it harder for creations to get worldwide appeal!

@Beatnuki
I agree with you. we should be more open minded, and teach our children that lesson as well.

Woah acid trip, who ever made this cartoon must have been out there man.

Thanks for all the comments and support. As this is a clip that kids and families are enjoying For their protection of course, I have removed any post with inappropriate language, I hope you all understand as this is a preschool show, why that is necessary. Thanks

Any particular reason this theme tune says 'grubby' when the cbeebies version says 'dirty'? Just wondered.

This is fresh and fun and reconnects children back to he earth through digital magic. Congratulations to all the wizards.

The mouths and eyes on the people are a little spooky, but I love the insects.
It's amazing how we now have to heavily encourage children to go outdoors and be a little dirty. Society has come full circle!
