Each to their own but I LOVE the sublime colors mid-winter in the North - although I still prefer Nome to Fairbanks, where there are no hills or trees to block the sun!
Yeah, it can take a bit to adjust to living here, but the people that STAY are here because they WANT to be! Those who don't - they WILL leave!! =)) We still whine about the cold and dark, but we've earned that right by sticking it out year after year. AND - those light all night summers are sure welcomed on the opposite end of the spectrum! I love Fairbanks!

I lived in Fairbanks for 2 years. I hated going to UAF so much. Moved to AZ, its beautiful here.

@Svperstarr Also YES it was depressing. All anyone does at UAF is drink and take drugs. The cops dont even care.

Not when the Northern lights are out. How depressing is it to have a hurricane or a tornado or a flood take away your home. Give me Fairbanks any day

That low sunlight is amazing. I know I would love it there in winter. I love the darkness. :)
