@TimmayBlack yes, simply redo the froyo set up but don't go further and update it as normal. just remember to factory reset. and it should be fine as im doing it now as i became slightly annoyed and beside cyanogen mod 9 is coming out sometime
@BarricadeSlade I installed it back in the day and rarely use it anymore. It continues to get restored with Titanium Backup and I've just been too lazy to delete the backup :)
@RageXmods i also wanted to ask. do you get some problems re-downloading apps from the market when you first install? when I tried cm7 i always got the "download unsuccessful" triangle at the top. was that a normal process or just happened to me
@melojordans23 I believe I read somewhere that other people had that issue sometimes as well. I don't remember what the fix is for that though. You may want to ask google on that one. I use titanium backup to backup and restore my apps when I change roms.
@RageXmods well apps did download a day later, maybe it was backup assistant handling all the data. I've nwver figured outside how to use titanium backup to restore apps, do you havea link to a tutorial
@melojordans23 it's funny that you ask that. I literally woke up this morning thinking about how I need to make a tutorial video about titanium backup before I do anymore tutorials on rom installs. I think it's an app that every modder needs. If you can't wait until then, feel free to browse youtube/google though. I don't have any links available right now.
Just dropping in to say that was an awesome video! Thanks, you've definitely made me now seriously consider trying out cm7 on my X. You've gotten yourself one more subscriber lol thank you!
@savingprivateryan13 Glad you like it man! CM7 has even gotten better since my review with battery life, and fixing the bugs. Not only that, there are more roms coming out based off of CM7 which are awesome. I will have videos on them soon with instructions. Thanks!
@savingprivateryan13 Cool man, thanks for the input! I'm in the process of getting an instructional video on how to install CM7 right now, so you'll have some help :) I gotta say too....there are some really awesome things coming to Droid X right now due to the developer that hooked us all up with CM7. The process that he used to make it happen is opening up some amazing doors. It's a great time to be rooted!
@RageXmods LOLOL that's not me it's a friends little brother it's a funny vid though. I set my cpu clock speed to 1.2 ghz always. Don't you have your dx overclocked? I had the G1 when Cyanogenmod came out, then I got the htc aria and put cm7 on it, and then I got a Motorola Bravo later, someone just figured out the CM7 ported to the Defy works with the Bravo so now I'm using the Bravo instead of my Atrix. The Atrix is way better of a phone but I love Cyanogenmod.
@steenkypeet I asked because you obviously don't have a Droid X by what you are saying. The X has a locked bootloader, which means that CM7 has to boot differently than what you are used to on your other phones. Not everything you know about your other CM7 phones applies to the Droid X because of this...including the reboots needed for the themes to load correctly. You can continue to hosts vids of of people eating paper towels. Leave the X vids/instuctions to me :). Thanks.
@benmseiss Well I thought my post reply stuck earlier but now I don't see it. Anyway, I seriously doubt this would work on the DX2 based on the fact that it was never mentioned on the official release of cm7 for the DX. I would not try it until you see definitive proof that it works....but that's just my opinion :).
@RageXmods okay thanks, im just looking for some rom for my dx2, the root for the device seems to be limited on what it can do, and there isnt much information on it other than how to do the root itself.
@benmseiss if you go to Droid-Life,com , there is an article on the first page titled " DROIDX2 Sees First Custom Recovery,Now We Wait For ROMs"....there's your answer :). There are none yet, but it won't be long I bet.
@RageXmods No I'm no troll:( I was just saying you didn't go to the dragons and you could tell you've never had a CM phone before. Oh and for the themes you don't have to reboot between theme changes...
@steenkypeet Well I don't know what phone you have, but I follow the Devs (and other people in "the know") for DX very closely and not only do they say that you have to reboot for the themes to take full effect, I can tell you from personal experience that I have to or my icons won't change (everything else will). I did this review based off of my first experience with CM, which I stated clearly. So you telling me I'm a noob is not exactly constructive critism.
I'm a noob so.... Is it possible to put Cyanogen mod on my Droid X and go back to Gingerbread if I can't stand the bugs or I just don't like it?

Miui is out. Are you going to review it
melojordans23 7 months ago
@melojordans23 Yeah I'm running it now but I wanted to see what kind of battery life I get during an average weekday before I did a review.
RageXmods 7 months ago
@RageXmods how does it go on the battery
melojordans23 7 months ago
@melojordans23 I only ran it for half of a day yesterday....so I don't know yet. That's why I haven't done a review yet.
