While Nigeria may be slightly ahead of a region full of conflict refugees, it's hardly a shining example of what to strive for, and they've got capitalism (sans conscience in many cases) in spades.

I was watching video about nigeria - search for 'oil nigeria' in youtube and you will see lots of videos about what is happening there. No one cares about what is happening to poor villagers/farmers. All that rules is the oil business. Forget corrupt govt. Oil companies like shell do not bother to clean up the land also. Their license would be rejected if they did even 1% of that in UK or US.

Crime rates have a stronger link to poverty than anything else. I'm not saying that being poor justifies crime or anything, but that's what the statistics show. For example, look at the crime rates in Glasgow (Scotland); the crime rates there are FAR higher than here in London (England), but practically everyone there is white. You misunderstand. National Aid funded by taxes given by the British and American governments to poorer countries doesn't go towards the individual, but to the government to aid them in growing the nation as a whole, such as schools, hospitals and sewage systems.

Charities, however, recieve their money from donators only and give bugger all to the governments and concentrate on feeding the needy themselves, directly.

They're two seperate beasts, and both have a major role to play.

With the right plan though, of family planning/birth control, poverty and hunger could be eliminated from Sudan within 2 generations and provision made for the elderly (of whom there will eventually be less due to lesser births).

China has it's one child policy, i think it's a necessary evil, preferable to the evil that is starvation and hunger, but Sudan could have a two child policy.

these journalists are even causing more problems in Africa, they will go and film refuse dumps and other sorts and show the world that it is as a result or crimes and wars in africa, but they will never film places like naples refuses etc or even show war scenes in afghanistan or iraq.
