  • amazing

  • i dont see whats galactic about this! people dont understand.

  • Very different concept for an aircraft.

BTW Burt Rutan will be speaking in Newport Beach CA on May 7th 2010 to help the Women's Cancer Foundation.

  • substitute SS 2 with a rocket carrying a satellite & I could see definate possibilities for commercial White Knight 2 sales independent of the space tourism industry.

  • Awesome job. Millions of dollars. Go for it. I am tired of NASA doing nothing about passenger space program This thing is wonderful.

  • I agree completely. Science Fiction writers have long predicted this is the way it had to be for space travel to prosper.

  • I wish they could release my mother in law at the very edge of space :D

  • awesome, why does the SpaceShipTwo roll out have to be in 2009?WHY!?

  • It is delayed due to the accident with the rocket motor that killed several people.

  • What accident are you talking about?

  • Google it. A test of a rocket motor for SS Two went wrong and there were deaths.

  • I did, that was horrible... on a more positive note, do you know Burt Rutan?

  • I've met him several times but don't imagine he would know me on sight.

  • Thant must have been an honor..I swer one of these days im going to build an RC model of his Defiant, or the Long EZ.

  • He has one of the most interesting, creative and ingenious minds ever to design an aircraft. I shot the rollout of the Ares and Proteus - ever heard of them?

  • honestly no...ill google them

  • Then there is the Pond Racer (I shot that at Reno), Starship (shot that air-to-air), Catbird, and very unusual Boomerang. The Long EZ and Vari Ez were wonderful designs but I think you already knew that. Oh, the VariViggen looked like a little F-15 Eagle too. Enjoy the research! :)

  • wow that varivegan like most of Burt's designs was ahead if its time...thanks for sharing !

  • A pleasure - glad you enjoyed the info. You also mentioned the Vari Vegan - which I'd not heard of - was that a design of his for non-meat eaters? j/k ;) I watched the SR-71 jet model video you'd favorited - that was pretty cool!

  • I can´t hardly wait to see SpaceShip Two: the VSS ENTERPRISE

  • Actually, I think that SpaceShipTwo is the testbed for the design. The Enterprise and the Spirit Of Steve Fosset will be the first two operational craft. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

  • That's news to me - and very cool if true. Thanks for the comment!

  • VVS ENTERPRISE. They definatly didn't get that from Star Trek.

  • Actually there have been a lot more ships/vessels bearing the Enterprise name then you'd think:

    2 Continental Navy (1775 - 1777)

    6 U.S. Navy (1799-Present)

    1 U.S. Navy building (it's actually a recruit barracks/ship design for training)

1 Balloon, 1Space Shuttle, a training ship at the Mass Maritime Academy, in addition to the 11 Enterprise ships from various Star Trek movies/episodes and unlicensed films.

    Search Wikipedia for USS Enterprise.

FYI there have also been 15 HMS Enterprise's.

  • Its kind of ugly. Where's my futuristic ship?

  • In the future, :P

  • Oh my... that is sexy!!

  • That thing is huge! I wonder when the other one rolls out?
