I have friends who saw Zodiac and thought it was dull but I got the impression they lost the story at an early point. Its a great story that needs to fully play out, seven and fight club imo are anything but dull.

p.s I like how in fight club fincher tries conveying the message that advertising is corrupting peoples thought patterns. he even blew up an apple mac store! Now he's trying to get us to buy macs and install fcp for a 'whole new world' lol

Zodiac wasnt dull, it just took a person with an atention span longer than 20 seconds to watch. Your friends are idiots watch it yourself. It's Fincher's best work.

I think Alien 3 worked, it wasn't as good as Ridley Scott's original or James Cameron's incredible sequel, but it was still pretty good. I think the main problem was that Fox wouldn't get off his ass about making a commercial movie. He voiced his opinion on their control over the movie in a documentary that was included on the Quadrilogy set, however; Fox had most of his screen time cut, because almost all of it was him bashing Fox for all their dick moves during filming.

He wasn't fake. Norton and Pitt were both split parts of the same character. Whenever Pitt was dominating the action in a scene, and Norton was a bystander, that's when the character was in Tyler mode. If Tyler was the onlooker, then the character was in Jack mode (Jack, John, Ringo, whatever). Yadda yadda yadda.

In my opinion, Fincher is one of the few remaining directors in cinema today whose work can still be seen as art. Sure, I guess the world needs a Michael Bay every once in awhile. However, there are far too many "Michael Bay" directors walking around in Hollywood today.

Literally, the last day of shooting was the last re-write for the script. The film that was made is not the film Fincher had signed on to make. Besides, it was his VERY FIRST FILM, cut him some slack.

I agree with you. Although Fincher did get screwed. They chopped and edited that movie so bad to make it more "hollywood" friendly. I heard he begged and threatened to sue if they didn't release his cut of the movie on a DVD. The Game, Fight Club, Zodiac and Seven are amazing movies though. Can't wait for Rendezvous with Rama!

Alien 3 did not suck, Fox kept cutting scenes and reducing the budget. It's a very beautiful film despite the problems and the title sequence is incredible, as is the score by Elliot Goldenthal.
