The show actually got worse, credibility-wise, after Shannon left. First because of the utter implausibility that they never contacted Prue, either by calling on her spirit or traveling in time, which they otherwise did all the time. Second, the tone of the show got too lite comical, considering the subject matter (witches destroying demons, or vice versa). Doherty should have at least been asked to appear by the show's finale, but wasn't.
Atleast they didnt(THANK GOD) end the show! I would have been so disppointed. Its better than what happend to Two and A half men atleast, like Ashton but the other guy made the show, darn he had to get into drugs sigh...Go Charmed!~ My biggest regret was Cole! I loved him! lol

I think that I agree with Alyssa's statement.But I also think that its a great show and I just finished season 8 2 nights ago,Over all i agree Shannon 25% Alyssa 75%.At least she could have done a guest apperence where instead Prue gets rezurected and Julian McMahon[As Cole] should also come back and help Christie.So Paige and Prue meet.I am a boy over all but non of my friends know about this show but I think the saddest parts where when future Chris died and when they had Prues funeral.

Charmed is one of my fav shows & I watched it for Prue & Piper. After season 3 I got a little lazy in watching the rest of the series. But Shannon has a point. She's 30. There's no need for major drama & there's no point in trying to continue production with a co-star you can't get along with. It doesn't matter who started the bitch battle. I think a huge part of her bitchyness was the reason she didn't come back to Charmed as a guest appearance for an ep or two, and didn't even let them keep her pictures on the show. :/
It would have been nice if they were able to get Shannon to come for the last episode and finally have Rose(Paige) and her interact, the time hopping was a waste of time to me especally since all Billie had to do was go far enough back in time to save Christy before she was turned evil.

Everything isn't gonna be all happy and pleasant, sisterhood, bonding and all that. Eventually they will develop relationships with men, have families of their own, go through the trials and tribulations of relationships, etc.

This isn't the first show where the co-stars couldn't cope with Shannen Doherty and her attitude. Beverly Hills 90210 is another example. But Charmed is amazing and Shannen and Rose were Both amazing in Charmed. <3

I love all 4 Charmed sisters! I dont know any of them personally and I wasnt there so I dont know what their drama stems from. I feel that they all had instrumental roles in making the show a success. I wish Prue was able to come back for the finale...but I love Paige and Im glad they cast her because its hard to replace a main character with someone new. Rose McGowan owned the role and helped the show stay on track.
The finale was great but Prue was the missing piece of the puzzle.
Its Alyssa's fault!? I thought maybe Shannen wanted her character to get more importance instead of Alyssa's so that's why she left. Some people even say Holly supported Alyssa to save her role, but that's not true. After watching some news it seems like Alyssa had an argument with Shannen (possibly over their characters) and Holly supported Shannen and even tried to quit as well, but couldn't due to contracts. Sometimes I wish they chose Lori over Alyssa, at least Prue wouldn't be dead! :(

Having said that, she wasn't asked to come back for the finale either. However Brad Kern did explain that if he had used 1 photo of Shannen in the finale it would cost so much that he wouldn't have been able to bring back Grams, the mum or the Dad - so by the time they brought back those characters, there was no money to bring back Prue

@uys1 Yeah, Prue used to be my favourite, but as S4 continued I grew to love Paige even more. And when she came in with the ginger hair and the confidence she had after S4, it made her all the more better. Shannon is a nasty piece of work, frankly. I've never even been curious to see her in anything else like I have the other three.
@chakotay24 Brad Kern, the main producer on Charmed said he didn't even ask Shannen to be a part of the finale because he wanted it to be about the sisters that were there rather than the one that wasn't. So Shannen didn't even get an opportunity to take part in the finale.
Well I left my family for those same reason and I am glad that some employees at work are not there cause they just complain about there job and stuff so I fell the same as Shannen does on that but easy for her to leave and get another show or whatever than me find another job lol I wish she didnt cause I missed her on the show after she left.
@jamesx78999 yeah prue was a great character it was tough to see her gone and piper's character took on a whole new transformation which makes sense but I missed pre death piper then post death piper. I think phoebe's role evolved they way she was supposed to so I don't think she missed out.

If Shannon had come back the show would have been very different over the years, it would've continued to be the Prue (world's ugliest name) show. I thought she dominated to the detriment of the others. The show was just "Charmed" not "The Charmed One". I think her leaving was the best thing to happen to the series.

@prettypaine I remember there was a quote from aaron saying that he would never put her in another series of his again. after this happened. And there was always rumors of her being such a bitch in both here and back in 90210. Which is sad because she was good actress at portraying pru and i fell in love with them. Rose did a great job filling the spot but I always wonder what it would have been like if shannon never left.. we'll never know. Unless we can do parallel universes traveling. :)
Personally my favourite season was 3 and my favourite character at that point was phoebe because the acting was great but I did also like prue in season 3 because shannen's acting got better. I didn't like Paige at first but after season 4 I really started to like her too. So I am glad the show worked out the way it did. I'm just not sure of the reason why shannen left
Compare her leaving Charmed as equal to Kate Jackson leaving Charlie's Angels after the 3rd season. Aaron picked both ladies first and they both walked away for similar reasons. both have careers that fell flat as well. Dont get me wrong, I have always been a Charmed fan, and Charlie's Angels is one of my all time faves. I think Aaron learned from C.A. because Charmed actually improved through the change.

I think that at the start of season 3, "Charmed" was completely different from the previous 2 seasons.There were inconsistencies and the tone of the show changed from unique, fun episodes to a flowing, boring consistent drama with cliff-hangers at each episode ending, like most TV shows.I think that Doherty left primarily because the show suffered creatively because the creator, Burge left as executive producer in season 3. So, Doherty maybe voiced concern over the show, but they didn't listen.

She left because there was a change in the Plot when Cole came on, which gave Phoebe a little more attention, Shannen just always has to be in the middle, thats why she left and things still went good after she left
@doinme1219 things went better imo, and i got completely invested in the show when she was gone. Holly/Alyssa/Rose had a great vibe which is why it worked so well, and how easy it was for Rose to quickly connect and fit in with a cast who had been there for yrs already. I don't like watching Charmed without Prue. Whenever they show the last episode where Prue dies because of the demon who killed her, I don't watch the show again until the first episode comes back. I don't like Paige that much. She's ok, but Prue is much better. I liked Prue because she was daring, feisty, and a true leader of the Charmed ones. I was shocked that Prue was killed off the show years ago. At least I have digital downloads of the show where I can watch Prue anytime I want.
It's clear the one without passion for the show was her. It was pretty stupid of her to leave, Shannen's attitude's well-known, but still she was pretty pampered when it came to getting the first slot in billing and focus in Charmed, if she was still jealous of Alyssa for getting a bit more focus it seems so petty. It's also so weird to see Phoebe and Prue getting along so well in some episodes when there clearly was drama going on between the actresses.
I loved Charmed seasons 1-3 because the writers and producers focused on the craft and regular story lines including a multitude of characters. When season 4 began the whole show changed and they focused way to much on only demons. There were barely any episodes involving regular people and way too many episodes involving different types of magical beings. The show fell way off in season 4-8 because they focused too much on the evil characters that entered the season.
@indiansummernights Doherty was not under contract with the show the way that Holly and Alyssa were. Also the producers and staff were all getting pretty tired of the rifts between the three actors, so when Shannen decided to leave they were alright with it. They would have had no problem if Alyssa left either because they knew the feud would stop. Also the show was build high on Prue's character in the show so Shannen prob knew that she didn't need to sign contracts binding her to the series
@clowntownzig all actors have to be on contract. If she wasn't on contract she'd never have stuck around until the end of season 3. But she had to stay on for the entire season she was contracted for. Then she either walked, or as I've heard in many places was fired as she gave them an ultimatum between her and Alyssa and they picked Alyssa
I loved Prue. And I loved her character. I dont think that the story would have been the same if she died. One of them had to die. I love that Piper was the one to be upset because she did it very well..

The Drama probably stemmed from the fact that Brian and Alyssa were dating in real life. Julian and Shannen were dating in real life....that makes alot of awkwardness.

Charmed is one of my fav shows & I watched it for Prue & Piper. After season 3 I got a little lazy in watching the rest of the series. But Shannon has a point. She's 30. Everything isn't gonna be all happy and pleasant, sisterhood, bonding and all that. I love all 4 Charmed sisters! I dont know any of them personally and I wasnt there so I dont know what their drama stems from. I feel that they all had instrumental roles in making the show a success. I wish Prue was able to come back for the finale...but I love Paige and Im glad they cast her because its hard to replace a main character with someone new. Rose McGowan owned the role and helped the show stay on track.
The finale was great but Prue was the missing piece of the puzzle.

Its Alyssa's fault!? I thought maybe Shannen wanted her character to get more importance instead of Alyssa's so that's why she left. Some people even say Holly supported Alyssa to save her role, but that's not true. After watching some news it seems like Alyssa had an argument with Shannen (possibly over their characters) and Holly supported Shannen and even tried to quit as well, but couldn't due to contracts. Sometimes I wish they chose Lori over Alyssa, at least Prue wouldn't be dead! :(

@anonymizzle Well for starters we have to consider if she would have returned. Shannen Doherty has been quoted saying she would 'never go back to charmed'. Having said that, she wasn't asked to come back for the finale either. However Brad Kern did explain that if he had used 1 photo of Shannen in the finale it would cost so much that he wouldn't have been able to bring back Grams, the mum or the Dad - so by the time they brought back those characters, there was no money to bring back Prue

@prettypaine I remember there was a quote from aaron saying that he would never put her in another series of his again. after this happened. And there was always rumors of her being such a bitch in both here and back in 90210. Which is sad because she was good actress at portraying pru and i fell in love with them. Rose did a great job filling the spot but I always wonder what it would have been like if shannon never left.. we'll never know. Unless we can do parallel universes traveling. :)

Compare her leaving Charmed as equal to Kate Jackson leaving Charlie's Angels after the 3rd season. Aaron picked both ladies first and they both walked away for similar reasons. both have careers that fell flat as well. Dont get me wrong, I have always been a Charmed fan, and Charlie's Angels is one of my all time faves. I think Aaron learned from C.A. because Charmed actually improved through the change.

I think that at the start of season 3, "Charmed" was completely different from the previous 2 seasons.There were inconsistencies and the tone of the show changed from unique, fun episodes to a flowing, boring consistent drama with cliff-hangers at each episode ending, like most TV shows.I think that Doherty left primarily because the show suffered creatively because the creator, Burge left as executive producer in season 3. So, Doherty maybe voiced concern over the show, but they didn't listen.

Shes just a bitch anyone remember 90210? Piper made a better oldest and paige was stronger, most of the time the charmed ones almost lost were thing paige could easily do cause she was part whitelighter!

She left because there was a change in the Plot when Cole came on, which gave Phoebe a little more attention, Shannen just always has to be in the middle, thats why she left and things still went good after she left

@doinme1219 things went better imo, and i got completely invested in the show when she was gone. Holly/Alyssa/Rose had a great vibe which is why it worked so well, and how easy it was for Rose to quickly connect and fit in with a cast who had been there for yrs already. Damn I miss the show...I'm gonna run off and watch reruns now cos of all this Charmed talk, lol

I don't like watching Charmed without Prue. Whenever they show the last episode where Prue dies because of the demon who killed her, I don't watch the show again until the first episode comes back. I don't like Paige that much. She's ok, but Prue is much better. I liked Prue because she was daring, feisty, and a true leader of the Charmed ones. I was shocked that Prue was killed off the show years ago. At least I have digital downloads of the show where I can watch Prue anytime I want.

It's clear the one without passion for the show was her. It was pretty stupid of her to leave, Shannen's attitude's well-known, but still she was pretty pampered when it came to getting the first slot in billing and focus in Charmed, if she was still jealous of Alyssa for getting a bit more focus it seems so petty. It's also so weird to see Phoebe and Prue getting along so well in some episodes when there clearly was drama going on between the actresses.

I loved Charmed seasons 1-3 because the writers and producers focused on the craft and regular story lines including a multitude of characters. When season 4 began the whole show changed and they focused way to much on only demons. There were barely any episodes involving regular people and way too many episodes involving different types of magical beings. The show fell way off in season 4-8 because they focused too much on the evil characters that entered the season.

@indiansummernights Doherty was not under contract with the show the way that Holly and Alyssa were. Also the producers and staff were all getting pretty tired of the rifts between the three actors, so when Shannen decided to leave they were alright with it. They would have had no problem if Alyssa left either because they knew the feud would stop. Also the show was build high on Prue's character in the show so Shannen prob knew that she didn't need to sign contracts binding her to the series

@clowntownzig all actors have to be on contract. If she wasn't on contract she'd never have stuck around until the end of season 3. But she had to stay on for the entire season she was contracted for. Then she either walked, or as I've heard in many places was fired as she gave them an ultimatum between her and Alyssa and they picked Alyssa

it's funny how everyone bicthes about Shannen, but, most of the fans claim the Third Season as their favourite.......and it's indead.........
...I love Charmed forever...but it's a fact, Charmed was better when they had Shannen and when it was about the craft..........

I loved Prue. And I loved her character. I dont think that the story would have been the same if she died. One of them had to die. I love that Piper was the one to be upset because she did it very well..

The Drama probably stemmed from the fact that Brian and Alyssa were dating in real life. Julian and Shannen were dating in real life....that makes alot of awkwardness.

Hey hellexistsidiots - thanks for the laughs. For Me (& only Me) I didn't like Phoebe as she was never given the full potential as Piper &Prue. What I said about Aylyssa is only my opinion I didn't mean to offend you. S4 with Paige was a good but they kept the whole Phoebe/Cole
