  • This just makes me want to go Straight Pipe out 8960 with a BCIII lol.. Nice 8970, and is it a Stock 400 or more?

  • @Stetsonater It was turned up to 450

  • Lopey, smokey and just listen to that turbo :) Awesome (and I'm not even a John Deere man!!).

  • my god, that monster is awesome

  • @nicklikecows It sure is! Kinda miss it now...

  • @DFarms001 wish you had more videos of it

  • @nicklikecows If you look through my older videos I actually have a ton of videos of it.

  • @DFarms001 sick i'll look

  • john deere is still the baest

  • First Cummins were PT, in 1992, the STC 444 was the 855 block and struggled to meet emmisions, Ive worked on a few International 2670 michigan county trucks that the P.T fuel system on the early N14 blocks, Cummins canned the STC system because it was troublesome and got with the times to create the Celect, in the mean time they did use both fuel systems, the reality here is John Deere needed a 400hp engine, they had development problems, Cummins had what they needed, the rest is history.

  • there is nothing like the smell of pollution in the morning.

  • That thing smokes like a mug when its cold.

  • The big John Deere engine, the 12.5 liter, is the same as a 60 series detroit. Other than the John deere only uses Cummins. The big choppers use cummins engines. The john deere engine will out lug a cummins. And they are very reliable.

  • Does Deere use any other engines besides Cummins? Cat? Detroit?

  • Is the n14 a predecessor of the big cam series

  • I like the way you boys roll. Sounds great.

  • exhaust leak!

  • sounds just like my '95 Dodge on a cold morning

  • @dfwurbob ptd injectors were never put in a n14 and the celect did not come before stc also all stc injectors wre ts (top stop) still have the tool in my box to adjust them;)

  • How about a video of it under load in the field? I'd love to hear it bellar!

  • Donnactrc not ALL n-14's were electronic, the first ones were STC

  • @droberts444 We converted this one over though. It was originally electronic, anymore it's nearly impossible to do since nobody will sell you the parts.

  • @droberts444

the first one's were with PTD injectors, then came the one's with the TS injectors, same with the Celect (electronic), and then came the STC injectors, but the Celect is not built so much, because of all problems with it, or, as this N14, with STC injectors, with a defect STC Cable, and/or defect STC valve

  • Mannn......That thing smokes worse than the 400 BC3 in our Kenworth grain truck! Love that old 855 Cummins sound though.

  • No way that's a Cummins N14 which are electronic and would not make that much smoke on startup. More likely a mechanical NTC350.

  • maybe you sould drive it around

  • A guy where im from had a 4wd Deere with a Deere engine in it. he took it to the dealer to have some work done and was driving it home and it blew up less than a mile down the road. the dealer didnt get the drain plug in tight, so they gave him a free cummins replacement.

  • nice and smooth just like a deere should be

  • @TheTractormaster Just like a Cummins will be! Thats what u mean.

  • same motor in trucks doesnt have as much hp though

  • lil smokey there eh?

  • Is it just me or are the tires pink ?!

  • now put a jake brake on it xD

  • thats more like an airplane hanger than a garage

  • lucky u dont have a smoke alarm

  • that starter, reminds me of an old dodge starter. gear reduction. i love it.

  • 0:59 Take THAT Al Gore!

  • no mosquitos!!

  • thats the only good deere around, with a cummins

  • Ain't those supposed to have a Series 60 Detroit in them?

  • @RustyCarnahan no deere has ever had a series 60 detroit.

  • @benthorsgard Whatever you say jethro.

  • I'll have to agree with you on that. Deere can't build a decent big engine. The 619 is alright but just not enough cubes for over 300 hp and the power tech 12.7 and 10.5 in the newer 4wheelers isn't very impressive. These engines were based of the Detriot series 60 engine. Not a big fan. I guess I'm just partial to Cummins. Typical smokey start up for the cummins. Our '90 IH semi does the same thing. Gotta love the sound of the old cummins. :)

  • @DieselnutN14 blah blah blah god poeple look for any reason to talk junk about a deere do you own any 8 wheel john deere's that size to know wether the engine are good most likely not

  • @kdiesel4255 Of course an eight wheeled deere of that size is good, it's got an 855 in it.

  • @kdiesel4255 well most farmers will more than likely buy a semi truck with a cummins engine before anything else. there are two trucks on our farm with n14 in them both having over 800k miles on them with minor trouble. that is a wonderful engine capable of 700 hp

  • You have a leak

  • Looks like you got a little exhaust leak there...

  • So why doesn't it have a Deere diesel? Aren't they a direct competitor to Cummins?

  • @mpwelk It is a weird situation. At the time Deere did not make an engine this big that had the track record of the 855. IMO, they still can't build a big engine.

  • @DFarms001 they did build a big V-8 diesel for the 8850 tractor,and i understand it was a nightmare

  • @DFarms001 what do they put in the 9000 series like the 9630 is it cummins or a jd premium

  • @PaTrIcKat1995 John deere engine

  • Now that's a beast, she sure likes to smoke!!

  • The Cummins engine in this rig would be a model NTC-855-C290 if I recall rightly.

  • beast fucking tractor!

  • did john deer really put an n14 in there tractors or is that costom

  • oh yea the trubo lol

  • The cummins comes standard in that but they only did it in a few models bc i have a 8960 and it has a cummins

  • DAMN i know i sound like a jackass asking this but did you strap in the cummins or was that already in when you bought it

  • @walkingfreak It was there LOL!

  • @DFarms001 Damn thats nice

  • @walkingfreak 70 series had cummins in them deere first had detroit building big blocks for them then they tried their own.. 955 cubic inch v8 ok engine but quite a few quirks and a bitch to work on then after they gave up on that they had cummins build an engine for them.. then eventually they built there own big inline 6 and life was good... now you know ha

  • this is the best way to get a deere to run like a case put a cummins engine in it. gotcha!! this has got to be the best deer ever

  • @heavyxpress3000 I could not agree more! Case IH and New Holland really had it going by keeping the Cummins engines.

  • @DFarms001 And Versatile haha

  • @heavyxpress3000 Deere*

  • @Reezy71x i know how to spell it it was a miss type no one is perfect

  • @heavyxpress3000 Okay Hannah Montana

  • Good lord thats a semi engine!! Very nice!

I've always been a fan of Cummins Diesels, and John Deere 8070 series tractors. Best of both worlds! Sweet.

  • what is this cummins Diesel engine :-?? .. I don't here about it !!

  • very nice

  • she's well broken-in aint she?

  • 8500 hours and counting. We plan on running it to 12,000.

  • Probably old enough is still has the mechanical PT pump on it

  • It had an electronic governor on it but it was messing up around 3000 hours so we took it off and had it converted back to a manual governor.

  • most are when their cold

  • GOTTA Love the N14s!

  • shes a smokey old fucker
