@perico700 I support UCI in this case if what you said is true. The reason why i said i support the UCI is because this sport needs a hero. It always does.
To you guys trying to say that Lemond should prove that he didn't dope, you should realize that its impossible to prove that. You can prove that someone did something, but you can't prove the opposite. You can only provide supporting evidence, which he has already done in the form of his VO2 max and blood hemocrit levels. He has proven through medical evidence that he is one of the most gifted endurance athletes that ever lived in terms of those crucial measurements.
@drewp66 I think that would be an interesting question to ask him. I don't think he was doping, but if asked to prove that he wasn't, wouldn't he say, "I have never failed a drug test. Find a witness to prove I was doping." He would sound a lot like Lance Armstrong, wouldn't he. I am not taking a position on either athlete, but I do think it would be an interesting question to hear Lemond answer and view it in that context.
LeMond's average speed in the time trial, 54.545 km/h, was the fastest in Tour de France stage history; since then, only the 1994 prologue has been faster.[1
On a boat anchor with aero bars? What proof does he have that he was clean? Many others were doping at this time. Testing was very easy to beat back then.
Clearly he could have been using performance enhancing substances.
fignon himself said EVERYONE was doping then...so all things set aside, if everyone was doping, it was an even race was it not? doesnt matter at this point.
his team was weak for the tour this is true..johan museuw at that time was a sprinter and young....and turned out to be one of the greatest classics riders of all time..in 90 lemonds team was super strong and yet he didnt win a stage...in 89 with ADR and his (weak team) he won 3 stages...but with cycling its not always about who is strnger sometimes it just comes down to luck and or how you read things...i was 17 in 1990 i look at this vid now and its so dated..how things have changed.
jesus i remember my friend "welding" bars like this together for his bike, after seeing lemond in 89, and we would rocket down mountain roads like this.holy shit it gives me the shivers thinking how dangerous it was....but oh so cool at the time.ha ha.
I spent 36 hours around Greg, loved him, mad as he is. You can't do much more honest than Greg. I heard about his abuse etc, and what a MAN. Lve his style and honesty. Mike.
Today this would be considered mechanical doping.

I had Jan Ullrich-type TT bars on my road bike when I was a messenger, never used 'em much but damn they looked sexy!

Greg should be asked to prove he did not dope during his three tours.

@drewp66 there was a net elevation loss of 75m... plenty has been faster since.

If Fignon would cut his hair, it could gave him enough against Lemond.
