  • I can't say that I do, but my dear old Dad that just recently passed was a big western fan, and if it had anything to do with horses, gunplay, cowboy's, especially a bigger than life 'Western Star' like John Wayne... Well then most likely I've seen it, I'm gonna have to check. The scene I was speaking of in 'Hang em High' is my Mother's alltime favorite Western scene. I can't recall the title "Searchers" but I bet my Mother would get a kick out of seeing it, "THANK'S"! It's true about sound qal

  • This song always brings tears to my eyes one of my favorite hymns, and Im Catholic! Thank you and God bless you for putting this up. Other versions have better video but this by far has the nicest sound.

  • @brandonsfca

Thanks for your comments and for viewing.

  • I don't know if you ever seen the Clint Eastwood movie, "Hang em' High". But when they were giving the condemned criminals their last words the townspeople were singing this hymn in the background. It's a beautiful song sung in this fashion and one of my favorite movies. I liked the poor guy's speach about how the whiskey got into his gut's and caused him to kill his wife, and that he had no excuse because he was raised by good Christian, God fearing parents. He warned all to not do as he did...

  • @Lalijoker Hello yes i remember that I wonder if you saw John Wayne's 'The Searchers' ,the song is being sung at his familys funeral. It seemed to have been sung in alot of early westerns.

  • My Grandmother died yesterday and this was her favorite hymn had to listen to it..;Was so comforting

  • @xXMeteorShowerXx

So sorry to hear of the passing of your Grandmother.

I'm happy the hymn was here for you.

    God bless,

    Wayne

  • @xXMeteorShowerXx You are blessed that you had a Christian Grandma! RIP. You will meet again!

  • It is too bad that it is not a more clear view of the choir.

I enjoyed the singing of this hymn very much.

  • Praise God! I love the old hymn's. I'm 33 yrs old and I love the Lord.

I'm a Nazarene and our church has gone to all contemporary style of worship. I often leave church not feeling that I've even been there. I've tried various other churches in our community and this style of praise and worship has seemed to have taken over the traditional style. It's so sad! Thanks for putting this on you tube. I loved it! God Bless you all.

  • @kellmichkamkar Thanks for viewing and your kind comments.

  • @joenwayne

We sure shall meet... at the banks of that beautiful river with all the Saints.... at the Throne of GOD ...

  • Yes, we'll all gather at that river, the beautiful, the beautiful river, gather with the Saints at the river that flows by the Thone of GOD...! ... Soon our pilgrimate will cease....

  • that is so well done and is my all time favorite gospel song. first heard it on the "hang 'em high" western starring clint eastwood, its been stuck on me ever since. thank you and the singers and the organist if you could forward my thanks and gods blessings upon them also....

  • Beautiful! Sad that I've never heard this wonderful hymn sung in a church in England.

  • Thanks for your comments and for viewing.

  • Come to St Aidan's CofE Church, Mill Hill, Blackburn, Lancs BB2 4HA on Tuesday, 5th January 2010. We have had a request to play this at a funeral.

  • @kevinm46 It was years ago -before the Church of England began its' change

  • @kevinm46 Yes, it has played an important part in the American musical tradition. The melody was set by quite a few American composers: Ives, Copland, and others.

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (Nov. 1, All Saints' Day), I filled in at another Lutheran Church. We sang this as the Hymn of the Day. It is #423 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Just thought I'd share.

  • Is this song in the Episcopal Hymnal? I love the hymn, but I didn't think it was in the 1982 Hymnal.....

  • Hi "imsixftsix",

You're correct, it is not in "The Hymnal 1982". While Redeemer is an Episcopal church, it has "The New Century Hymnal (U.C.C.)" in the pews.

Thanks for viewing and your comments.

    Cheers,

    Wayne
