  • Brava, Marne, for linking the horrors of rape in war with domestic rape, and for working to bring this to the public's attention.

  • Finding the words to breathe life into such a difficult and painful subject matter requires such care and genius that Emily Dickinson surely possessed. Thanks Marne for writing such a wonderful and eye opening book.

  • wow such a powerful subject thanks for sharing this!

  • Thoughtfull and insightful. Video looks great and the quality of the talk is deep and meaningful. Good work!

  • Marne, Bravo! Very well done. Yesterday I was at my local Veterans. clinic and I noticed several posters of women soldiers part of a new ad campaign about rape and help available. Very widespread in our military now, especially overseas..Most new PTSD cases are trauma from in-house military rapes. Anyway, food for thought. I hope to see more of your poetry on You Tube.

  • I was impressed with your insightful presentation about rape and genocide. Pauline Nyiramasuhuko, Minister of Women's Affairs in Rwanda encouraged the militia to rape Tutsi women and kill them during the Rwandan genocide. Your comparison has validity. Another book draws on the same comparison by Andrea Smith, Conquest: Sexual Violence and American Indian Genocide. My book, The Nature of Good and Evil to be published Paragon House touches upon attributes of genocide as well.

  • From Moveon.org

Right now, federal dollars can't be used for abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or when the woman's life is in danger. But the bill, introduced by Republican Congressman Chris Smith, would narrow that use to "cases of 'forcible' rape but not statutory or coerced rape." I signed a petition telling Congress to stand up and oppose the bill.

  • An arresting viewpoint, and a comment which certainly deepens the deadening or death-defying of this experience, thank you.

  • A point of truth indeed, Marne. If men raped each other as an act of war when in combat .. imagine the're outrage. Most women who have been raped never really recover, it is a death.."closer than hand to hand combat" and in my view, in a very real sense creates a population of living dead..un able to love the surviving men of a war.
