@Iconoclast12100 your comment is boring. You are one of the many mindless sheep that follows the herd of "let's insult the latest popstar to show how much we hate him compared to our beloved music". The kid's name is on every goddamn video, even videos like these that have nothing whatsoever to do with him. Instead of phrasing a constructive comment, praising Neurosis for their genius you go for the most cliched comparison on Youtube. Just let people listen to whatever they like.
@THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE I completely agree. I hate being reminded of certain "pop stars" and "singers" on videos of bands that have nothing to do with them.

It isn't a party or how's your wife and kids or let's talk about some other band. It's Neurosis!!! I know they don't play a lot, but if and when they do, SEE THEM!!!
@DyingWater yes... there's something so intense about this song, that it really is beyond words. the only other song that strikes me the same way would be 'blood, milk and sky' by white zombie. it almost feels like a sacrilege to attempt to sully it with words.

@mydonkers Are you implying that Metallica appearing in the suggestions for a Megadeth song is something that wouldn't normally happen, as if they're not related in any way? Don't be a fool.
Look at it from the other side: great musicians should try to write a song, a good song, consist of 2 riffs playing over and over instead of making 25 minutes suites with all these insane solos.
The way I interpret this song is like... the beginning is one's disillusionment of the content of their soul. It then becomes the progressing, evolving expression and discovering of ones soul. Sunday, october 24, 2010. 04:32. I have witnessed 14 people with internet connections and access to YouTube who have comletely lost their way and obviously had NO BUSINESS clicking on this link and watching this video. OR they are clinically insane. OR mentally retarded, oops, pardon, new terminology these days: they suffer from EXTREME congnative delay, yeah, that...
The album is so powerful that when you've listened to it from start to finish, you feel like you've been on a epic journey of rediscovering life, death, energy, matter and thyself...you get the feeling you've pilled off your own skin and you're reborn. But then again...you get that feeling with every Neurosis album.

putios yankiis invadiendo todos los mercados con sus rolas robadas a compadres luchadores por el buen metal suenan bien pero no son mas q marionetas de su mercado mueranse todos
The end of this song is so sick, it makes my balls hurt.
Steve Albini did a cool thing on this record where once he recorded it, he blasted the song into the main studio room on a pair of speakers, put a microphone in the room and recorded it back to tape. Then blasted THAT recording into the room again, repeating this process over and over again, picking up the sound of the ROOM over and over again, naturally distorting the recording until all you here is bizarre room overtones, it's crazy.
I could be wrong about it being this song... or this record. He definitely did it at some point though. Stole it from some crazy french guy who did it in the 60s with the sound of his voice. Anyway, Steve Albini made this record sound retardedly heavy and awesome. Love it.
This was done with all songs on A Sun That Never Sets. With Erode it was done twice, three times with The Tide, and the repititions increase with every song. With Stones From The Sky, this was done 30 times.
So where can you find this? On an album called "A Resonant Sun" by Neurosis' sister-band "Tribes Of Neurot". Like Through Silver in Blood and Times of Grace and their ToN sister-albums, you're supposed to listen to the two matching albums on two separate stereo systems.
Oh, and the sister-albums to "Through Silver in Blood" and "Times of Grace" are "Silver-Blood Transmission" and "Grace" respectively. I ripped the albums to my PC and blended "Suspended in Light" using Audacity, and made sure to pan one track more to the left and the other track to the right (not 100% though, I wanted to keep some sense of stereo sound from both tracks).
The result? A very intense and "full" sound, and a somewhat different experience/approach to the music.
I dunno if we're thinking of the same thing... I'm curious what you're talking about though, where did you hear about this?
I'm talking about blasting the 2-mix into the room as close to unity as possible and mic-ing THAT (2-mix in the room) over and over again, the end result is a jumbled mess of room tones and weird harmonics. You can kinda hear it at the end of this song but I dunno about the other ones. I'm curious about it though, let me know what you read or heard from!
The song "Erode" was played on a stereo system and recorded with a microphone, and the recorded audio was then played on the stereo system and recorded with the microphone. Basically "looping" the song into the microphone and out through the speakers twice. For Stones From The Sky, this was done thirty times. The final result can be found on the Tribes of Neurot album "A Resonant Sun".
I think the information is actually available on Neurosis' website (or their store).
woooooooord.... I've been meaning to check out the tribes of neurot stuff for a while now. the whole concept of matching albums is just fucking radical. thanks man!

@drillerkiller863: *rises hand* took me some time to realize that was the song itself. imo one of the best neurosis-songs ever, what makes it one of the best songs at all

my favorite song at the moment!
i always wondered why the sound at the end of the song is a lil bit disturbed? is it intended or what?
SP1R1TCRUSH3R 2 years ago
because the stones from the sky hit's the earth... my guess but i don't know really =)

Yes, it's intentional. And VERY hard to accomplish while still staying in time. Just proves once again Neurosis + Albini = untouchable

I assure you, they don't ;D
An atmosphere consisting of some sort of vapor is required and the gravitation is too strong for that.
If they did though, I bet it would sound like this ;D
