  • good stuff....were looking to build these kind of racks for our shells ...not shells you guys use but like cylinder shells or the other types you get from phantom or skyking...skyking sells racks for 40 bucks....there built pretty well but there 40 bucks

  • I would tend to agree with you that the plastic bag is there to keep a shell from leaking in the event it breaks during transportation. This could be dangerous especially if more then one shell breaks, because of chemical incompatibilities ( chlorate and sulfur as an example.) I have asked a couple of the guys I shoot with and they have all said it is to keep the contents from leaking.

  • how much do shells cost to buy

  • @christmas722

    3"?

72 pieces for like 300/400 euro is a nice price :)

  • Shells are in bags for a rain resistant, they are pointless and just make a mess in the guns, we always take the bags off. I guess they could keep from components leaking?

  • If I did a small hand fired show and had a fair time to spare, I would cut off those ports and save them.. =D

  • The 1st year you taped the setup at this show the kid doing the setup for Pyrotecnico was friendly. The past 2 years the guys for Pyrotecnico act like they're on work-release from prison, I keep looking for a guard with a shotgun watching over them. They have the dreaded..."I'm cool because I'm setting up fireworks" attitude! I like your videos because you're not like that, and neither am I. Guys that act like that are the guys with the least experience, just my opinion.

  • that looks fun!!!!!

  • 5/5

    (ll)''

  • the super crackling shells are actually the salutes,, they changed the name for shipping purposes,

  • dang your not playing around

  • how much do you think this cost

  • where do you get your shells from ???

  • The plastic can keep it dry.Keep the powder and such from spilling if the shell breaks. But only the company knows i guess.

  • i was totaly going to say that. you know i just realize something, every time you(Dave) ask a or say something about your not sure on somethnig i be talking alone with you lol. i guess thats how much im in your vids trying to understand and learn what your showing/saying.

    thanks

  • years back i was told that the plastic bags are to protect the shells from water damage while shipping from overseas. The plastic will also contain any lift charge if it were to leak.

Guess you can say it serves a dual purpose.

  • The plastic around the shell is so you can see if a shell is leaking any powder. (most of the time if a shell has a leak it's the lift charge that's leaking) If the bag wasn't there you might not spot the leak. Which will result in a low breaking shell due to underlifting.

  • yup

  • Dave, for some reason I get the feeling that one of those guys that was setting up for Shannon fireworks does not like you. Just because of the way he was talking to you about the issue with the plastic around the shells. Anyways with that put aside GREAT videos Keep them coming.

  • No, these guys are ok with me. I like to quiz the old timers a little. We were all talking stuff. That plastic bag on some shells is commonly misunderstood. I have seen guys remove the bag before they place the shell in the mortar; most guys think it is to keep the shell dry. I keep waiting for someone to comment in agreement with me on it is to prevent chemical leaking out of the box in the event of damage to the shell. Shipping and classification dictates more than people realize.

  • I agree with you on that one. I believe there might be multiple reasons for this. Like as you stated to keep any chemicals from spilling if the shell was damaged and also to keep the shell protected like say there was a little dew or something in the mortar, the plastic bag would help keep the shell dry and protected. Oh yeah and you got to love the pyro talk lol

  • 1.40lol I was just about to say same thing as you did,hey Dave Im learning haha! Thinking as a pyro now tooXD Btw,we use the sideboard-thing when we do our shows, our 4"racks is only 5tubes in and our 6" has 4tubes in.I wonder, your racks has some board between every mortar, ours does not hav,we only have like a rack when the tubes can move around a bit.6.20new tubes?Looks clean for beeing a mortar

5*great video And btw, nice the ledgend came the show I remember him from your I think cecil township

  • At 8:00 you say the bags are to catch any stars/break charge if they break... I really don't know what they are for, but damn you would have to drop the box of them pretty hard to break them! I wonder if anyone knows for sure what they are for. Amazing videos btw, I can't keep up with them you pump them out so fast.

  • There have been accidents in transportation of fireworks. I believe to properly transport the shells they have to take measures that the chemical material does not leak out of the box if a shell breaks open. They will also bag and box groups of shells. An extra measure is to bag each one. Because if it leaks out of the box now you have chemical on the floor and the potential to ignite from friction of what ever. Hopefully someone out there will help me confirm what I am saying.

  • @displayfireworks1 it can serve many purposes, like contents leaking like you mentioned...or keeping moisture out of the shells because the paper that comes out of china likes to soak up moisture fast and that can be a problem if your lift gets wet...or if you have damp mortars it will keep the shells dry until its time to fire the shell.

  • He shouldn't have that beer onsite.

  • Are you aware that you have only made one positive comment on my videos? It is either the shroud on the ematch , fueling the vehicle and now this. This guy is not working the display, he only stopped to say hello.

  • Go back and check, I've made many nice comments on your cool videos. Working or not alcohol isn't allowed on show sites.

  • Comment removed

  • i agree with Dave

anyone that wants to be negative about it dosnt deserve to watch them

  • how do you get at ground zero like this? u just tell them u you have a permit or something or just want some video clips?

  • I give them chicken wings. LoL.

  • yea thats how my freind strated in the pryo world he has since moved to mexico about 10 years ago for abetter paying job. he realy gave the crew of 10 wing like you did no kidding

  • Or you wear your Pyrotecnico shirt and offer to help carry all those heavy ass steel tubes and racks from the truck to were they're setting up at. Definitely hard work carrying all that stuff. I remember we did a show in Chillicothe, OH at a country club, we had to carry those damn racks half a mile through the course.

  • ohh wel i guss thats one way to get ther at groud zero

  • You either have to work within the industry, be the sponsor of the show or be the local AHJ/fire dept

  • great video dave
