I'm just a normal catholic from Western-Europe but I visited an Orthodox church once and I was amazed by how friendly they were in comparison with our priests. I'd love to be orthodox but we don't have an orthodox church nearby...

@1classicliberal Yes, they're very friendly here too in Belgium but they're always friendly because they mostly want a favour in return. In comparison to the religious persons (also priests?) in the Orthodox Church, our priests are much worse... In the US, they're renowned to be friendly.Btw, our most famous priest from a couple of provinces in the surroundings here almost moved there since he served alongside the USMC as priest :P

The things your eyes feast on, newborns, burnt charcoal, withering flower, etc. are things created by him. You won't see true beauty until you see Christ (lets forget about religion).

Often I find myself within Catholic service, or in other situations involving the Church and I feel uncomfortable and ill at ease. When I look at these pictures and hear this music...I feel them. They make sense to me.

@02kazak I'm actually considering riding my bike to a nearby Orthodox church. It's a few miles away, but not too far. However, my professor (who is an Orthodox priest) told me that it is "western," and not "eastern" orthodox. Do you, by chance, know the difference?

I'm just a normal catholic from Western-Europe but I visited an Orthodox church once and I was amazed by how friendly they were in comparison with our priests. I'd love to be orthodox but we don't have an orthodox church nearby...
This music is just simply... Peace itself turned into frequencies.

@1classicliberal Yes, they're very friendly here too in Belgium but they're always friendly because they mostly want a favour in return. In comparison to the religious persons (also priests?) in the Orthodox Church, our priests are much worse... In the US, they're renowned to be friendly.Btw, our most famous priest from a couple of provinces in the surroundings here almost moved there since he served alongside the USMC as priest :P

@Lilia1992 I didn't say anything about religion... it is Jesus Christ that contains the true essence of beauty. The things your eyes feast on, newborns, burnt charcoal, withering flower, etc. are things created by him. Therefore, if his creation holds so much beauty to which you testify, how much more the creator, which is Christ Jesus the Lord? You won't see true beauty until you see Christ (lets forget about religion).

@Lilia1992 So what if you're Muslim? Music is music, it is made to be beauiful and to express something :D I am atheist, myself, but that doesn't mean I can not listen to eclesiastical music, gregorian chants, or christian pop/rock music. I listen to something because it's beautiful :)

@Lilia1992 I respect you - and I respect the Islamic faith. As a Greek Orthodox boy myself, I do believe that God instructs us to be virtuous and upright - that we should treat each other as brothers.
I believe peaceful coexistence between our faiths is not only possible - but very desirable.

@Lilia1992 As much as I truly would love to see our faiths become united - I am sensible, and I know such a thing isn't forthcoming anytime soon. However, a good start would be to teach people that we are not so different - and that its NOT the will of God to slaughter each other in His name.
I know my history - the Prophet Mohammed had great respect for Christianity. So, I return the favor and I respect Islam.
