That must be really hard to play as fast as in the original but you did the job very very well actually its not the type of music i like because im only 14 and from switzerland
but i play guitar too since 6 years maybe im going to learn the song lol keep up the good work!!
Give my compliments to your friend, as well: That is a fantastically accurate tab. And a very fun song to play! It very quickly muscles up your right thumb.
Just outstanding. I can't wait for "That'll be the phone." I believe it will be the only one on here if you do it. Been watching all your Don Ross covers, you are very impressive. Are you just a hobbyist or do you play pro? I'm just a private party player myself (solo country/rock 6 and 12 string) but was bitten by the fingerstyle bug after discovering Andy and Don last year. It's enouraging to see some of us who do it so well. Thanks for sharing. :)
Hi Sarge - Thanks for your comments. To answer your question, I'm just a hobby player who plays the occasional paying gig. Last one was September '06...
Warren, you're unreal... I hope I can command a guitar as well as you can some day :) I found your ascii tab of that'll be the phone, but you don't have a video of you playing it posted! Can you put one up?
My favorite part of Don Ross' version is left out..:( its what i'd call the climax of the song. when you can tell that he's just jamming so hard. But such a great job saff.
Thanks man. It's funny about our views on the song - I find the bridge goes on too long which is why I chopped it. However, Don played a different version this past weekend, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
A brilliant version, I think slowing it down is a good idea. Everyone knows Don Ross' hands were in fact transplanted from the resurrected Jesus (left) and Mohammed (right), so it's impossible to play as well as him.
This is one of my favorite Ross songs. It has this sort of meditative quality to me, probably because of the repetitious melody. It's a fast paced song, but it doesn't feel rushed. Very nice sounding guitar, too!
why are all of the amazing guitarists in canada! i need to get my butt up there and figure out how to become good haha. amazing cover, one of the better ones ive seen, other than don of course.
what also makes me mad is that they are all on the EAST side of Canada! i lived in Washington state for about 7 years, and i went up to Canada a lot, but never heard about this until i moved to PA. I need to make my way up to Ontario!
Wow. Got a tab for this? Only discovered Don Ross, Eric Mongrain a couple of days ago. I'm still completely blown away. Thought Micheal Hedges was a one off.
Great song, I haven't heard it by Don Ross so I can't compare but you played it well.
How long have you been playing now ? I practise as often as I can which is almost everyday allday and I just woundering how long it will take to get as good as the pros lol
I've been playing ~30 years and I still noodle a couple of hrs/day. I thing I notice about my playing now, is that I can learn new songs more quickly. There are some newer techniques that I see on YouTube that don't really interest me (e.g. tapping) probably because of the compositions (Andy McKee's Drifting is an exception).
Man, you really have the talent, you should be composing your own music.
Plus you're a guitar builder, and from what I can see those are some beautifully crafted guitars.
It doesn't get better than that, does it? :)

I have composed in the past - and have original music. Maybe I'll post the CBC Keynotes recordings to fill in the gaps between the cover videos...

Will you be posting anymore?

Very nice job Warren. Were you able to purchase the music for this or did you go by ear?

Read the video description. David's tab is linked from there.

You'd have to talk to David Carriere about that. It's his tab.

Michael still THE original IMHO. Tab can be found in my video description. Thanks for watching/listening.

Incredible. I've never seen anyone play Don Ross as well as you. At least I know its possible to imitate him now.
bluegrassfiend 5 years ago
Thank you very much. Although, I do feel that Antoine Dufour and Craig D'Andrea from Candyrat Records can do better imitations. It's all good.

hey man, this is awesome. have you ever tried using a thumb pick?

Yep, I've tried and I couldn't stand it.
