When this movie was new, in about 1963, I wanted to see it but was not allowed to; I was 9 years old. It wouldn't have scared me then - the wobbly puppet "monster" with its floppy neck and pathetic undersized front legs is laughable.

Several years later I saw it on TV, and in black & white, the opening sequence with the raw, bloody dinosaur flesh made no sense. You couldn't see that this was supposed to be fresh meat.

If one must watch "Reptilicus", this is the best way to do it.

However, this is missing the happy scene where the pretty girl sings "Tivoli night - oh what a sight / All Copenhagen is dancing...", as a counterpoint to the horror which will soon arrive.

And also the part when the drawbridge is opened and screaming people plummet from it, the operator inexplicably having started the process of raising it even as Reptilicus approaches and crowds are fleeing.

This movie is so bad! The effects look absolutely terrible.

The miniatures in the Godzilla movies are a thousand times more believable than the ones in this film. The shot of Reptilicus eating the guy is pathetic. Reptilicus is such an obvious puppet. The only giant monster movie worse than this one is The Giant Claw.

Too bad you didn't include more of the lousy acting. That's the best part of the film.

I went to see Reptilicus a second time when I was 11 in 1966 in Governor's Harbor, Eleuthera, Bahamas. My little sister and I couldn't figure out why everybody laughed when the scary parts came on.

this is actually an old danish movie, edited to fit the american screen. i've got the origibal one in danish in black an white wich is even cornyer (actually its incredibly horrible) it even features a song bit with a nown danish actor from those days. all the city scenes are made in Copenhagen. (which havent changed much since then i might ad)

I think the ONLY extra thing that should've been included, is the dialogue somewhere just before the frozen tail is thawed, that explains how the creature could regenerate from any piece of fresh tissue.

believe it or not, the acid spitting scenes were added to the american version. they felt it made the monster more dangerous. in the original danish version, there was no acid. go figure? very enjoyable movie, a proud part of my dvd collection. pure fun!
