  • first band i saw live @ the Poole Arts Centre.... She was sat on a stool with a pretty red dress on so it was about this time...Great concert

  • This is a real rock show.

  • i love everything from siouxsie and the banshees and the creatures

  • I love "Land's End" Glad to see it live. I love all The Banshees albums. They each have something their own. But "Tinderbox" is probably my favorite out of them all. The guitar work on the album is some of their best and I love the lyrics. I wish they would've performed "The Sweetest Chill" though, that's one of my favorite songs.

  • The reason that Siouxsie is sitting with a stick on her hand was that few days ago that TV show she fucked up her ankle in a show .And I Think (I'm not sure) it was in Royal Albert Hall (they used to play there often) They used to play at Hammersmith Odeon too!

  • Siouxsie dislocated her left kneecap on 24 October 1985 at the Hammersmith Odeon during "Christine". This performance on "The Old Grey Whistle Test" was filmed only a few days after the acident, while the band were continuing with the 1985 tour, with Siouxsie sitting on a high stool.

The last show they played in 1985 was at the Royal Albert Hall on 28/11/85.

  • This is brilliant, but I can't help laughing just slightly when siouxsie very nearly falls off her stool...

  • Land's End... very mysterious tune...

  • Saw them tour in that config - awesomw. Carruthers was underrated - this was one of the band's peak eras as a tight live unit. He wasn't as pick-oriented as McGeoch but his style merged well, hence the creation of some of these more prog-oriented classics from the band.

  • Lucky you! John Valentine Carruthers truly was an underrated guitarist and along with "Juju", "Tinderbox" is one of their finest albums. Everything works perfectly together and Carruthers playing on the album is exceptional, not to mention Siouxsie's vocals were at her best around the "Hyaena" and "Tinderbox" periods.

  • @Mr13595Stephen So true about John Valentine Carruthers...very underrated. I have often googled to try and find out what he's doing today. Anyone know?

  • @Mr13595Stephen

Oh dear, I just stumble onto these comments. Once they "lost" Robert Smith, the band were finished, and should have disbanded. I've had several attempts at listening to "Tinderbox", and it's crap. And I don't understand how you can possibly compare it to "Juju". I'm too old for all this !

  • @roddy76to86

Once again, we'll have to agree to disagree there! The band could not have disbanded without releasing the masterpiece that is "Tinderbox" and other great singles post "Hyaena" like "Cities In Dust" and "Face To Face".

I wasn't comparing the two albums, I was just stating my opinion. 1981-6 remains my favourite period of the band.

  • @Mr13595Stephen

Yes, we'll just have to agree to differ. A generation gap I suppose it's called. But you've heard most of "The Scream", and that incredible song at the end "Switch". My son Mathew even dared to say one day that "That Scream isnae bad"I don't understand why you keep getting away with copyright, I've only managed about three Banshees songs that haven't been "pulled". Wankers. But at least you've got some Banshees songs floating aboot for people tae hear. Well done.

  • @roddy76to86

By no means am I saying "The Scream" isn't a great debut album, because it is. It contains classic Banshee songs like "Jigsaw Feeling", "Carcass", "Mirage", "Nicotine Stain' and "Suburban Relapse".

"Overground" and "Switch" remain my least favourites off "The Scream". I prefer "Overground" with strings (like on "The Thorn" EP) and "Switch" sounds better live.

On my other channel, I've uploaded McKay's first gig with the Banshees and the 1977 BBC Sessions.

  • @Mr13595Stephen

This is awful, I hate disagreeing with you about the Banshees. But this song is crap, which meant I didn't get to the second song. But I've left a couple of comments about the Peel Sessions which I hope will compensate.

  • @roddy76to86

We just have to agree that we have different tastes when it comes to the Banshees' albums and even though I do love their early "Punk" sounding material, the "Juju" (which I know you love) - "Tinderbox" period remains my favourite. That's just how it is.

In all honesty, I actually think John Valentine Carruthers is my 2nd favourite guitarist, after the genius that is John McGeoch of course! I think Carruthers' contribution to the band was great, especially live stuff.

  • One person needs their kneecap broken!

  • This was filmed when her leg was in a cast.Hence her sitting on a stool!

  • Siouxsie dislocated her left kneecap on 24 October 1985 at the Hammersmith Odeon during "Chirstine". This performance on "The Old Grey Whistle Test" was filmed only a few days after the acident, while the band were continuing with the 1985 tour, with Siouxsie sitting on a high stool.

  • @Mr13595Stephen I went to see her twice on the 1985 tour.I remember that she had little puppets dancing around at the front of the stage along with people dressed in skeleton suits. I also remember her waiving her cane around, just as she is in this vid. I also remember the 'back slab' cast she had.She was wearing a red dress at Poole Arts centre & the cast was glowing under the Uv lighting. She was still fab! :)

  • @stevobath Poole in Cornwall?

  • @KunJieBentRoy No. Poole in Dorset. Its a port town about 5 miles West of Bournemouth! :)

  • @stevobath So lucky......would love to of seen them live.....I bet you treasure memories like that hey :)

  • Grandes recuerdos, nostalgias contenidas, retazos de vida abstraidas por la tortuosa madurez..nunca los olvidaré..

    Saludos paganos.

  • @imagenpagana Absolutely agreed. Cancion buenisima. Recuerdos bonitos. Ojala, I could back.....

  • GREAT!

    Siouxsie ♥
