well said. I've been trying to spread the same message myself, as most vids only show sport tkd. I learned both, and teach both. In a way, i kinda like that some people don't know what real tkd is about. It can be quite deadly if you know the full art including knees and elbow, and how to blend it.
well personalli, i find that wtf has a lot more variation than the itf version, more fancy kics, etc.....plus wtf is an olympic sportt but.....explore it :D
i think it depends on how you train. you can learn any martial art and be a good fighter. but seriously i think mixed martial art is the best because it teaches martial arts into one. that is the reason why all ufc fighters learn mixed martial arts and a specific martial art in addition.

There is difference between fighters. So there are better fighters. There is difference between martial arts. So there must be better martial arts. If you train harsh, even with poor martial arts, you can be good fighter. Don't mix up martial arts and fighters. Taekwondo is better than muay thai because taekwondo has all muay thai techniques, which are simple. MMA is the best because MMA uses all techniques of all martial arts. Don't talk olympic sparring. That's just a part of taekwondo.

No TKD is not better than Muay Thai, TKD is a sport...that is not effective in real life in even the slightest. TKD requires distance and all the moves are predictable, maybe the reason this guy seems so good is because he is using some MMA tecniques and he was quicker in all of the fights from the video, remember that fights are about speed, a small weedy guy can beat a heavy set guy if he is quicker, period.

I think Muay Thai fanboys would be more apt to say TKD sucks instead of karatekas.
Not that I have a problem with Muay Thai, but after seeing comment after comment on how Muay That/BJJ would own every other martial art, I got sick of it real quick.
Go hybrid... If you are looking for the best martial arts Hybrid is the way to go. No one single martial art is complete unless you mix them up. Muay Thai is great but no ground defense... Same with TKD... Great kicking with TKD and great punching with Mauy Thai and leg striking ability. But both are missing the ground game!
So neither is better.... they are just options in the bigger picture.
Did I mention I'm a black belt ITF tkd adept . I practice itf tkd for 7 years now ... Oh and I teach it too :D I really love tkd .. it is a really complete martial art ... and in a case of a street fight I think it's a really good way of defense
I would really hate to go against this guy. I mean, I'm a brown belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu (which is debatably the most effective form of self defense, Krav Maga or Sambo are often seen as equal or better). But this guy is just relentless and, more importantly, FAST.

exactly, DAMN! this is real taekwondo, bareknuckle push-ups, elbows, knees, everything... what u all forget it sports have rules, competitive TKD is a SPORT, not a martial art, so learn b4 u speak, Taekwondo is first and foremost a MARTIAL ART! Its like Kendo, it has a competitive side, but un-sheath those swords and its deadly. TKD doesnt ''unsheath'' its ''sword'' unless its to destroy. nuf' said!

well said. I've been trying to spread the same message myself, as most vids only show sport tkd. I learned both, and teach both. In a way, i kinda like that some people don't know what real tkd is about. It can be quite deadly if you know the full art including knees and elbow, and how to blend it.

well personalli, i find that wtf has a lot more variation than the itf version, more fancy kics, etc.....plus wtf is an olympic sportt but.....explore it :D

i think it depends on how you train. you can learn any martial art and be a good fighter. but seriously i think mixed martial art is the best because it teaches martial arts into one. that is the reason why all ufc fighters learn mixed martial arts and a specific martial art in addition.

There is difference between fighters. So there are better fighters. There is difference between martial arts. So there must be better martial arts. If you train harsh, even with poor martial arts, you can be good fighter. Don't mix up martial arts and fighters. Taekwondo is better than muay thai because taekwondo has all muay thai techniques, which are simple. MMA is the best because MMA uses all techniques of all martial arts. Don't talk olympic sparring. That's just a part of taekwondo.

some people forget that tkd is a semi contact sport,and muay thai is full contact
people who practice semi contact sports dont have a good chance of beating a full contact sport because of the way they train,simple
and Serkan and some others train full contact now,thats the only reason they can compete against other full contact fighters,its all about the training

No TKD is not better than Muay Thai, TKD is a sport...that is not effective in real life in even the slightest. TKD requires distance and all the moves are predictable, maybe the reason this guy seems so good is because he is using some MMA tecniques and he was quicker in all of the fights from the video, remember that fights are about speed, a small weedy guy can beat a heavy set guy if he is quicker, period.

loool, fools, all of you. Competitive TKD, the sport, has rules, like all other sports, kicks give most points, so they kick obviously. Taekwondo, the martial art, has no rules, as others. Again, the fighter makes the martial art, not the martial art makes the fighter. This guy is just using TKD, the martial art, u see the power it hs, stop dissing it cuz u r afraid. Taekwondo is a MARTIAL ART. And a sport on the side. Invented by the Korean army, to protect, its deadly, hard, fast and effective

As ive written before, maybe somewhere else, fighter makes the art, not vice versa. Let's get back to bruce lee's theory..
There is a technique, there is a fighter, every human has only 2 arms, 2 legs. Human body has limited potentional, but human mind has unlimited one..
Every single movement has it's pros and cons, FIGHTER is the one to choose what to perform..the art wont do for him..

I think Muay Thai fanboys would be more apt to say TKD sucks instead of karatekas.
Not that I have a problem with Muay Thai, but after seeing comment after comment on how Muay That/BJJ would own every other martial art, I got sick of it real quick.

Go hybrid... If you are looking for the best martial arts Hybrid is the way to go. No one single martial art is complete unless you mix them up. Muay Thai is great but no ground defense... Same with TKD... Great kicking with TKD and great punching with Mauy Thai and leg striking ability. But both are missing the ground game!
So neither is better.... they are just options in the bigger picture.

Did I mention I'm a black belt ITF tkd adept . I practice itf tkd for 7 years now ... Oh and I teach it too :D I really love tkd .. it is a really complete martial art ... and in a case of a street fight I think it's a really good way of defense

I would really hate to go against this guy. I mean, I'm a brown belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu (which is debatably the most effective form of self defense, Krav Maga or Sambo are often seen as equal or better). But this guy is just relentless and, more importantly, FAST.
