  • he looks exactly like ricky rubio. reincarnation? anyone

  • @tintin4561 Bullshit Ricky Rubio has nothing on this legend.

  • @Chooify rubio is in his first year, and the game is way different and more technical than it was in the 70's.

  • @tintin4561 are u from spain?it's just bullshit to say rubio's name next to maravich!and nba is more athletic but not more technical than 70's!players could shot and play together much more than now 1 on 1 game with gay rules(no hanchecking,3 sec def rule, more room to penetrate),u should also know kid that players back then could n't palm the ball, like every great ball-handler does now, cause they would charge travelling!!imagine pete if allow to palme, would be unstoppable!rubio can't even shot

  • @AdreasTheGreat Am I from Spain? Wtf does that have to do with anything. Firstly in the 70's you would be considered a good player even though you couldn't dribble with your left hand. And the fact that the game is more technical makes it more difficult to be successful. You can't even make an argument about someone in his first year, and rubio might not be able to shoot but neither could magic johnson. the best pg of all time.

  • @tintin4561 man,u make it worst...now u put rubio's name next to magic!magic was great middle-range shooter(a lsot art in today's game),he made it almsot all the time, magic had >50%fg and rubio has 37fg%!how old are u man?who told u that players could n't dribble with left hand?rookie maravich was much better than rubio..no comparision!i put evey guard in 70's,they would call travel all the time!have u eve seen monore,frazier,oscar,maravich,baylor,white,bing...there were many great ball-handlers

  • @AdreasTheGreat of course magic shot such a great percentage he was way taller then the guy guarding him, and im not comparing rubio to magic, you cannot compare or critique any player in his first year. also my first comment had nothing to do with them as players but rather with their similar appearance. look at tape of jerry west, walt, elgin, tiny archibald all less then average dribblers with their left hand. even on defense they would never react to a wide open steal.

  • @AdreasTheGreat the fact is the game has grown and the players are more athletic, smarter and have greater skills. keep living in the past if you want but if you put an all decade team from the 60's and 70's they wouldent even hold players from the 80's 90's 00's jock straps.

  • @tintin4561 players are more athletic due to much better training technic and of course steroids!comparing players from different eras based on athletisim is stupid.that does n't mean are better players!smarter and better skills?teams score 80-85 points this year not cause of better def but worst offensive skills.the game is based on 1 on 1 and def rules are in favour of fast and athletic players like lebron,wade...back then teams knew how to play together and the pick was in 80's-early 90's!

  • @tintin4561 players were less athletic in 80's to but i don't think there are players like bird or magic now!jabbar was superstar in 80's to eventhough pass his prime u know!there were also many superstars like drj,gervin,moses,archibald,thompson...do u think 36 years old wilt, who dominate prime jabbar, could n't stand now, especially with today's training?players like oscar,frazier,west,barry,reed,havlicek,cowens,bing,thurmond,hayes,mcadoo,monroe,maravich,lucas,walton...could dominate in any era

  • @AdreasTheGreat well like it or not basketball today is a game based on athleticism, and technical defenses. Besides were going off topic, Pistol pete was a great player, very crafty and creative and he looks like ricky rubio, Whether rubio develops into a player like pete will be shown in the future.

  • @tintin4561 look man,i watch rubio many years and i honestly say that he was nothing like top level player in euroleague!he was the 3-4 best player in barcelona!i do n't say he has no talent but his european gamestyle makes him look so smart in today's athletic but skill-less and smart-less NBA.even Lin seems very good player in today's NBA,well 20 years before would n't even curry the towels!the only common rubio-pete have is their hair and 2nd passing skills but pete was much better offensive!

  • @AdreasTheGreat haha you dont have to tell me about european point guards, I know rubio wasen't the best pg in europe dimitris diamantidis is, however rubio is still young and has a good team around him. Players can always develop through time, Steve nash was a less then average pg up until his third year with the mavericks. I am not dissing pete I am just saying rubio has room to grow and my first comment was based on appearance, nothing has to do with basketball

  • ricky rubio's father?

  • Pistol Pete is one of my favs. Hope I go like he did!

  • 0:45 prophetic regarding his difficulties blending into the new Hawks team.

  • I never got to watch him play but as a fan of the game of basketball I have looked at some of his classic games and watched highlights of Pete. This dude was awesome!

  • Called it...

The style of play he played is more prevalent today than ever

    intelligent and well spoken man

  • wow thats pretty cool... how many hours did he practice a day?

  • MSG vault has everything

  • Best Serbian who ever played the game of basketball...

  • Best Serbian who ever played the game of basketball...

  • Such a shame he never got to play for a contender team until the very twilight of his career, and then his untimely death. They don't make 'em like Pistol any more...Only Micheal Jordan could be considered in his caliber, as far as position and skill.

RIP...and thanx for all the hoop memories.

  • Think anyone will ever average more than 44 points per game (57 with today's 3 pointer) in the NCAA ? Never, Pistol Pete was the best player ever.

  • @mocus1 Sorry Air Jordan is the best player ever you smoking crack.

  • @jason60152 Michael Jordan was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo overated.

  • @prettyb0y1992 How was Air Jordan overrated?

  • @jason60152 everybody whines on and on he's the best player to play the game. When in actual fact I believe and so do so many others, Jordan was the best scorer ever, not player as a whole.

  • @prettyb0y1992 Who do you think was the best player as a whole?

  • @jason60152 Wilt Chamberlain. He was unstoppable on offence. A nightmare for opposing players,on defence. And he could even pass the ball and assist extremely well for a big man. As well as play all 5 positions. If Jordan was playing in Wilt's era, things wouldn't of even been close. Wilt would dominate.

Another top guy I would definatly place in that catergory of "whole/ complete" player would be oscar Robertson. I think he was an upgrade of Jordan.

  • @prettyb0y1992 So you think competition back when Wilt played is better then when Jordan played?

  • @jason60152 hahaha you bet. Many more legends I mean Jerry West, Bill Russel, Kareem. Jordan's competition would have been guys like Bird, Barkley, wilkins etc. Most of which were great scorers like MJ but not complete overall players.

  • @prettyb0y1992 Kareem didn't play against Wilt.

  • @jason60152 He did later in wilt's career when he was with the lakers, and kareem was a rookie with the bucks.

  • @prettyb0y1992 Yeah but Wilt didn't do as good in the playoffs like Jordan did.So Wilt wasn't all complete.

  • @jason60152 Wilt was the 72 finals MVP

  • @NoRegretsForOurYouth 1 finals MVP........wow he should of had more Mvp's with the stats he had.

  • @jason60152 oh, and 67 finals mvp, but your point is well made, he wasn't great in clutch moments

  • @NoRegretsForOurYouth who are your top 5 centers of all time?

  • @jason60152

    1. Kareem

    2. Russell

    3. Wilt

    4. Hakeem

    5. Shaq

Moses Malone is just on the outside looking in.

  • @NoRegretsForOurYouth Would you put David Robinson or Yao Ming in your top 10?

  • @jason60152

Robinson yes, probably not Yao. I think the other five would be Robinson, Ewing, Willis Reed, Malone, and either Walton or Nate Thurmond.

  • @NoRegretsForOurYouth Hey you left out Alonzo Mourning,Dwight Howard, and Shawn Bradley.

  • @jason60152

lol Shawn Bradley is awful. Zo is top twenty. And when it's all said and done, Dwight Howard maybe a top 5 center all time.

  • @NoRegretsForOurYouth Well Shawn Bradley was better then Manute Bol..........lol

  • @NoRegretsForOurYouth lol Mourning is not a top 5 NBA center. Kareem, Olajawon, Wilt, Bill Russel, Artis Gilmore, Ewing, David Robinson, Shaq, Bob Laineer, Moses Malone,,u better research the game a little more before you make such a stupid comment.

  • @JayGatsbyOdysseus Yeah, I never said he was. u better research how to read a little before you make such a stupid comment.

  • I LOVE THIS MAN MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF.

  • This guy was so good. The best college career ever. 44 points a game average and in 3 YEARS scored more points than any player. He was also an amazing passer. So skilled. Loved the guy.

  • I love how he talks about other people being so great when he creamed every1 lol

  • What a prophet - especially when he talks about players doing new things in the air. The game was transitioning above the rim as well as Pete's ridiculous skills being more common among nba players. I wish his knee would have given him one more year. Then he could have won a championship with the Celtics. His dedication to the game off the court was what separated him from so many others.

  • if you look up pistol pete in dictionary : the court was his canvas and he was the artist..a showman like noone else will ever be..

  • best player to ever live

if they had three pointers back then, pete would have averaged 57 points a game in college

  • @porcupineplant Where'd you get that? Wikipedia?

  • @asktheNBAguru from a book about Pete, search for Bill Walton talks about Pete Maravich - he's talking about that book there

  • @porcupineplant much like Jerry West. Think how open the key would have been for them to create assists and penetration!! ;)

  • @porcupineplant He could have averaged over 45 a game in his prime in the NBA if there were threes.

  • Very prophetic words. He could literally envision the future...

  • @jdg62269 Unfortunately, he could only envision 1,2 or 3 steps ahead of everybody on the court and the 3 steps ahead of the season - other, he would have been truly depressed from playing on those mediocre teams.

  • awesome upload. pistol pete, ahead of his time...

  • Class All the way.Pistol knew the future. Thanks again 1 avardac

  • great find. i loved pistol, best i ever saw
