Hey, I have a question, Im interested in joining the coast guard, but Im afraid of flying, however, I love boating, cutters, law enforcement, etc..... If I join, I will have to board helicopters frequently?

@PonzoBonzo (Law enforcement Yes), but if your a shipmate or something then no, you'll have nothing to do with aviation if you don't want it.

@PonzoBonzo not at all...aviation is pretty hard to get into and if you join to be a boat runner i dont see you ever getting on a helo. goodluck

I tell you, the Coast Guard is by far the most underrated branch of the Military. But, they have the utmost respect from me. If I ever get into aquatic trouble, I will be saying, "I wish the CG were here!"

@GIMetalfortheTroops - that is because for most of history it was a law enforcement agency under the department of transportation. Only until the last few years has it been considered a full military unit. I like it being under the DOT and assigned to the Navy during war. It would still be the same, but should be labled a LE agency as what it really is.
