Awesome LIVE performance! Wow. I love their music, somehow this one had slipped by me in my flurry of posts of their video links the other day. I love Dollar Bill also, just no bad or mediocre songs by them exist, lucky us :)
I love you can hear a song for the first time ever, and not know who the band is, but yet you just KNOW it's a good song. You feel it; it just moves you. And then you look at the band name and say "well, hell, that explains it."
Wow, im impressed! I just moved to Ellensburg washington...right next door to Mark Lanegan's nephews. Never even heard of Screaming trees till just recently...totally a fan now!
Mark Lanegan is a kind of a god. Forever. And seems to become more of a god while aging. Very nice. Beautiful guitar in this song. Saw SC perform about twenty years ago and saw Mark perfom about twenty days ago . Very different but both very good.
@LkAuYrNtE barrett martin. he was the second drummer of the band and recorded with them their last two albums (and the one that never came out). he gave the band a sound quite different from what they had done before. certainly, he played with mad season too
Aw man, that was tremendous. (A mate of mine taped it when it was first broadcast, and I was happy to watch it repeatedly back in the day; now happy to watch it repeatedly here!)
Great, like the trees in the late 80s and how Josh and Gary played the Guitarimprovisation together, realy awesome...If you dont know the Band you would think they played since years together...
josh homme and mark lanegn have very similar tastes in hair colour. They are both ginger at the same time, or both blonde at the same time, or both brunnete at the same time.
Its a shame Josh never recorded with the Screaming Trees, but even a bigger shame that Dust never had a follow-up. Ah well, I suppose things worked out, what with QOTSA and Lanegan's solo work.
If only we could see these guys re-unite, if only for one more album.
rock n roll is dying sad adn hip hop and rap are taking over but they suck nobody has good taste in music anymore the screaming trees were great so are alice in chains white stripes.
@runescapeuser3 Yeah & Modest Mouse,Foo Fighters, Primus,Melvins,Mudhoney,Sound Garden,Rage,Strokes,Dir en Grey,Oh & Red Hot Chillie Peppers....Good thing we still got them.
Rock n' roll isn't dying! On the contrary, it's growing.
Here in Portugal there are lots of new good rock bands. And everyone who Appreciates good music doesn't care what plays on the radio. They search the web, and go to shows to enjoy good old rock n roll!!!
Check this Portuguese band: Miss Lava . They kick ass. ;)
Apparently i can. something you obviously can't. and since you seem such a reasonable guy and open minded to talk about music i'll just say, fuck off.
As much as I love the trees I forgot Homme played with them too... a testament to both of their versatility. Especially looking back on this from this point in time after songs for the deaf!
No Prob! I only know because they just came out with a reissue.
Love these guys. Dust is just plain beautiful. Saw Lanegan with Gutter Twins recently. Amazing. Lanegan barely moved the whole show but still just completely owned the stage.
......awesome!!! this was my soundtrack to a proper 7 week roadtrip around the US in 97!! Me and my (then girlfriend) went to NY, vegas, yosemite, grand canyon, seattle, san fran, and finally LA (not in any order) and we had Screaming Trees and the best of Simon & Garfunkel CD ( loving S&G) in the mustang!! ( and local radio!!) Best holiday ever!! love the US!!
I remember waking up late on night with MTV on (back when they played alot of videos) and loved it. Actually, alot of 90s songs I like I saw them afterhours on MTV. Wow, the times when you could fine new and different music on MTV...memories.
wow When wa this performed? I knew Lanegan sung on Songs for the Deaf album with QOTSA. But had no idea that Homme had played with Screaming Trees too.
Probably 94 or 95 right after Kyuss split. Josh was hired as a touring guitarist. I remeber seeing QOTSA posters popping up all over Seattle in 96 before the the first record came out. Never got a chance to see them tho. Damn me and my lazy ass.
that's because the meat puppets arrange a lot of instrumental songs, and most of the singing ones sounds like middle of the 60's rock, but the country-grunge stuff are exelent, such a great guitar songs
If you think Dust is good, be sure to check out Uncle Anesthesia, Buzz Factory, or any of their other earlier stuff. And don't forget Sweet Oblivion...

I saw M. Lanegan singing with the Soulsavers in Washington DC last week -- the show was awesome; transcendant and uplifting. Lanegan possesses one of the great voices of our time. Too bad he's so under appreciated here in the U.S.
with you there fella, why don't they reform gave a friend of mine DUST and guess what it's still in the cd player, the best of the best up there with pearl jam
Totally with you both, but Lanegan has arguably created his best music outside the Trees (even though i am obsessed with them) and teh Soulsavers album is just out of this world, with the Isobell Campbell colaboration hot on its heels
I think they reached a point here really finding how to express their dark, moody and ultimately soulful character. The dust album kicked ass! Went out on a high.
firstly, mark doesn't suit leather trousers :) secondly, he looks like a wreck here, good job he got clean. awesome song and surprisingly good performance considering lanegan looks fit to drop.
i love poetry and a glass of scotch, and of course my friend Mark Lanegan. I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany. Kind of a big deal.
