The guards look quite comfy in their beautiful, white jackets. It's a fun job for them, because they are sadistic. Solzhenitsyn said that most of the guards were Jews. I always thought that Jews were persecuted in the USSR. I never really understood that.

When he gave that long commencement speech at Harvard, he shocked the hell out of that liberal crowd & they wished they had never invited him in the first place.I remember that day very well, as I was studying his writings in college.

What I still can't figure out is why Jews would inflict such cruelty. Were there many Jewish prisoners? How did the Jews get so much power under Stalin? I thought Jews were persecuted in the USSR.

@unclejuniorsoprano Look, Solzhenitsyn just pointed out that "Communism" is essentially Jewish, and that is why he was so hated by the Jewish press in America. But if you look at the initial leaders, about 90% of them WERE in fact Jewish! Communism can be seen as nothing more than a Jewish conspiracy to "destroy the best of the goyim" just as their "holy" books say! There are many videos here on YouTube about the Jewish role in Communism.

@TomDavid88 I worked with a Jewish pianist who hated Solzhenitsyn for being antisemitic. When I studied Solzhenitsyn at Whittier College, the teacher, Dr. McBride NEVER mentioned any of this. All I can remember from back then is that Jews were persecuted by the system. In fact, I don't even remember Solzhenitsyn going after the Jews in any of his books; only in speeches. Thanks for the information. I will do more research. Gotta go now, my gruel is getting cold.

Crackpot philosopher Jean Paul Sartre even denied that the gulags ever existed. He was too much in love with communism to speak the truth. Solzhenitsyn's Nobel prize was worthy of a great man. But then, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore & that long-legged mack daddy, Obama, got one! Those bastards were just liberals. They did nothing to deserve a prize.

Reagan's biggest mistake was in granting amnesty to illegal aliens. Now, most of S. CA is a shit hole just like it is in most of Mexico. The only candidate I like is Herman Cain. He believes in borders & wants to build a fence. Mexican drug cartels will soon be taking over in the U.S. They already run the Mexican gov. Calderon is their puppet.

Los Angeles has turned into a big 3rd world city. It is a cesspool of filth. The mayor, Tony Villar, is an asshole who wants more illegals to move into LA. Dangerous drug lords have their babies born here so they can be instant citizens. It's very disgusting what's going on!

@unclejuniorsoprano I spent time research names of the Bolsheviks such as Yakov Sverdlov & Yakov Yurovsky & Solomon Lozovsky and found that you are exactly right; all of them were Jews. This fact doesn't excuse Hitler for the Holocaust, but it does place a perspective on the Jewish question, helping to explain why it was easy for the Nazis to turn Germans against Jews. If I were to spend a decade like one of the zeks in this movie, I'd surely hate Jews too. Solzhenitsyn was a great man.

They do the countries labor and yet people like you despise them -- that's just not logical. Anyway this movie almost perfectly portrays the gripping novel. Great work!
