  • haha a1974 video uploadet in HD!

  • It´s great. Its 1974. It´s pure rock!!. It´s 5 of the greatest musicians ever. It´s the sound and the recording means of that time. It´s the essence of F*** ROCK!!! YOU FOOLS!!! Idiots!!!

  • Someone didn't de-activate the AGC.

  • Whitesnake is way better

  • Wow, did any of you guys saying this sounds terrible look at the date it was recorded?. Sound reinforcement was (as you witness here) in it's infancy. Nowadays with digital effects that can fit into the palm of your hand, stereo panning and a barrage of other effects you can make even Justin Bieber sound like he has talent. This is a dry sound ,piss poor mike placement and no studio remastering.Think of this as a garage band with cheap equipment and STILL they sound good..To a point

  • @wallhoon o fuck ya

  • whitesnake's cover was way much better..

  • actually this a rare treat when you can hear the vocalists without any enhancements such as echo and all the stuff they use in the studio. all considered they sound pretty damn good. i'd like to hear Justin Bieber or the Jonas Brothers try and do this song without any electronic assistance.

  • This is a mixing board mix. They always sound like crap, no matter what. When you go to concerts that loud you can't hear all the mistakes, and out of tune singing, because there is so much noise, the ears don't pick up all of that detail. If you went and mixed this properly, put in a few choice overdubs, you'd have a good sounding record. But as is, it's just straight from the board. Uh, NO AUTO-TUNE back then boys.

  • who the fuck says this is the best live version, the sound is pretty bad

are you deaf...it sounds like shit don't upload this if it doesn't have a decent sound will you!! I'm leaving this crap now

  • sounds like a monitor mix

  • Ritchie Blackmore+200 watt Marshall Major amp heads.....

it's a miracle you could hear the vocals at all! LOUD!!!!!!!

  • @Wrathdemon And lousy vocals at that (in my opinion!) Sorry, after you've heard Gillan, well . . . . Coverdale doesn't even sound on key. Sorry, I can't listen to entire song!!

  • Coverdale totally changed his voice when he left Deep Purple. In Whitesnake its more real and reaches higher. I think in Deep Purple he was still an amateur and still working his vocals. This is not as good as he could do

  • I love the guitar part at 2:38.

I know with some practise in alternate picking it is not so difficult but it looks really cool...

  • Blackmore is SICK

  • @TopHatOnly He's sick? What's wrong with him?

  • Hughes should have been the sole lead singer/bassist in DP after Gillan and Glover left

  • Ew.

  • Hughes pisses all over Coverdale....always did....always will.....

  • Sod the "shitty mix" comments..You've got a piece of history there. thanks for sharing :)

  • Only coverdale and sometimes hughes........I only have no time to look at the end....

  • Coverdale is flat the whole song. Hughes is the better vocalist here. That being said, I still like Coverdale.

  • That's a lotta smoke, damn hippies :D

  • HD in 1974 ??? XD

  • 3:06 AMAZING :\

  • Gypsy!!!! where is the video on this concert anybody??? GYPSY!! one of the best Deep Purple songs playing live..

  • Gypsy!!!! where is the video on this concert anybody??? GYPSY!! one of the best Deep Purple songs playing live..

  • HD in 1974 ? jaja

  • @dirtyfingersAR I really don't know from which village are you from, but it was recorded on a movie tape wich has infinite resolution. And ... were there any digital cameras then? Just asking.

  • Lady T!

  • LOL...Coverdale is wearing the same stupid shirt he wore at California Jam. What a tool.

  • @CatapultYourMom who gives a S h it its the music what a voice.and you are G ay!

  • Let's make our minds up ,please , saw the same performance here , but billed as London. I'm loosing sleep...was it Leeds or London?

  • ian gillan on born again black sabbath were the hardest songs to sing ever he is a bad ass mofo DISTURBING THE PRIEST-If your ready and have the need I will take your soul and plant my seed. long live DIO the other badass mofo

Fuck all you Ian can still sing

  • @debchefq Ian cant sing well anymore, when was the last time he did child in time ?

he rarely sounds good on highway star.. the ones that doesnt demand such a high voice, sure, those he does alright.. but to me, it is highway star + child in time that made old Ian so great.

  • @leppardsnake That is true I think that like any muscle in your body you have to retain muscle memory through practice so he either has been smoking or not been practicing I don't know how it is with rock singers, Frank Sinatra and Pavarotti when alive sang flawlessas well as the badass tenor god of all time DIO dude I fucking shed a tear when I heard about DIOs' death I met him 4 times he was such a nice man and true proffesional Have you listened to the black Sabbath Born Again?

  • @debchefq he's been drinking and perhaps smoking, which is a shame. + he's been touring a lot. yes, so did I when dio died.. oh, I never got a chance to meet him, that must have been cool?

yes, I dont think so much of that album although I really like trashed ;D to me, that is a classic Ian song, just great.

and btw, whilst speaking of purple, the singer who has really kept his voice or well.. it's almost better now.. is Glenn Hughes!

  • best burn in video

  • Who the hell thinks Gillan doesn't sing well? That is impossible, lol.

  • @HendrixSRVClapton well, today, I would say he does not.

  • @leppardsnake

    not as before.

  • Shhhhhhhhh.....

    Richie is talking to God.....

  • Glen hughes never sang in tune live EVER. Cover dale was better later in whitesnake as a blues singer. Ian Gillan Is a god and if you hear him now you'd agree. He started it all.

  • @dirkworld he WAS a god. He can't barely sing today.. Well only songs that doesnt demand a high register, and that was mainly what he was popular for. .

  • gillan is shite live.baby singing lol.california jam best thing purple ever done.end of discussion lol

  • @moreton3 I agree with you :)

  • @joanquintorrez. Please do not even attempt to compare Coverdale and Gillan. If you know anything about your "Rock" history you would recall that Gillan was chosen to play the role of Jesus Christ in the rock opera "Jesus Christ SuperStar".

  • blackmore saves all the song

  • Even Glen Hughes has a better voice than Coverdale. In studio, David improved his capabilities, but live in concert... Just listen Made in Japan to compare Gillans voice with Coverdale in Europe album. No comparison

  • @joaquintorrez7 Made in Japan is a fuckin phenomenon! I don't think it is correct to compare anything to Japan record=) You can find rare short video footages of those legendary performances but they don't show Blackmore there - it is because devil played the guitar during Japanese showsXD

  • Coverdale had some surgery on his throat, after which his voice greatly improved. That's what I've heard.

But he couldn't be matched in any way with Gillan! It's true that Gillan kept loosing his voice as years passed, but he is memorable for his 8-octave voice range and great singing style he used to have and that's just it. The man is a legend. Do not compare him to anybody.

  • @cw3le 8-octave range ?? [XD] Dont think so.

Coverdale is a legend, as is gillan.

What has gillan done with purple, since 84, on top 20 album.

All whitesnake albums top 10 since 1980.

it all comes down to opinions.

Coverdale has a rough, bluesy tone with enormous feeling, he really means what he sings. at least imo.

  • @leppardsnake Look, I've already said that Gillan was at his best in his pre-Black Sabbath era. You can't beat the fact that he, alongside with Robert Plant, was the first one to bring screaming in rock music and that wasn't some uncontrolled screaming. The guy really had one amazing voice. Too bad he lost it as he aged.

  • @cw3le well.. dont lie about his octave range.

and yeah, he cant sing no more. that is true.

and he hasnt been succesfull for long. whitesnake has been more succesfull that any of his adventures. and that ain't fact. let's remember a certain glenn screamed a bit in trapeze as well

and rock aint all about screaming :)

  • @leppardsnake really? gillan can't sing no more? hmm what about coverdale? can he sing? lol rock ain't all about screaming and that's coverdale's favorite shit to do. haha not singing nowadays, only screaming. other than that, he's just giving the mic to the audience. what a bum...

  • @sykes0925 oh you again.. I thought we decided not to write to each other ? :)

Coverdale can sing well, gillan cant. My opinion.

he gives the mic to the audience, but so does every singer, to include them, and catch a breath :)

    he's not screaming, he's singing

  • @leppardsnake oh we did? hmm i didn't know. anyways,

in ur opinion, ok. what r u? john kalodner? bob rock? lol

u said every singer does that? Hughes does? dio does? nobody does that as often as coverdale. he does it like it's his main job for living. lol to catch the breath? is he running the marathon or something? hahahaha

  • @sykes0925 I think we did :)

no, I happen to write in my opinion, cause it is my opinion many use imo or in my opinion :)

turner does, hyghes does sometimes, dio didnt often perhaps.

I agree he does it often though, so does turner.

well, I would assume your voice would get very tired from singing an hour, yes you need to catch a breath ! :)

  • @cw3le 8 octaves?????

  • The vocals are that much louder than everything else because its so unbelievably, ridiculously loud on that stage. And it sounds like most of it is coming from the vocal mics. When Glenn steps in front of the mic the band gets quite quieter-ish.

  • Coverdale *-*

  • what kind of idiot missed the like button?

  • @Balisong72 lol must have been someone with slippery fingers mate :)

  • What a shitty mix. All I hear is vocals that bury everything!!

  • @Wrathdemon this was not a professional filming, that's why the sound quality is like this.

  • @Wrathdemon

Deep Purple live shows form back then always have loud vocals at the first song.

But then Ritchie goes like: Let's turn it up

  • @Wrathdemon My guess is that the mix was taken from the desk. That would explain why the vocals seem so loud, as they need the most boost thru the PA.

  • @akc5150 - yes the student who got permission to film this parts of this show took his audio direct from the soundboard.

  • @Wrathdemon That's because this a board mix. The band's stage volume was likely so great that there was much more vocal through the PA than instruments. Be happy with what you got my friend! This stuff is rare...

  • @beignet58 are you 4 real a better voice than Gillan? Ian Gillan has one of the best voices in all of rock, much better than Coverdale (and Plant)

  • @mondola we are many who agree that coverdale has a much better voice than Gillan. They are often both rated highly (sometimes coverdale higher, sometimes plant). IMO Coverdale has a low/mid range that is so wonderful, that gillan looks almost embarrasing in comparison. Yes, Gillan is great in high range, but hughes takes gillan there :) .. So coverdale has a better voice than gillan, hughes a better voice than gillan. Just my opinion. But dont say "are you 4 real" we all have different opinions

  • @mondola gillans definatley better than coverdale but i aint sure about comparin plant and gillan, but if u think gillan is better than plant who am i to judge u

  • Good stuff! Blackmore's on fire!

  • Obviously there couldn't have been COVERDALE-PAGE without Coverdale ... duh.

  • David Coverdale is an awesome singer. If it weren't for him, there wouldnt be a Whitesnake or there wouldnt have been a Coverdale-Page.

  • its about time great quality footage of this show turned up thanks

  • Best Purple lineup

  • @mwain91 yes the best ever!!!! unfortunately it lasted for a very short period :(

  • RITCHIE BLACKMORE !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Get outa here... Coverdale looks like an immitation of Gillan. Later on he will immitate Robert Plant... Pathetic.

  • @harel10 Fuck off, Coverdale was very insecure of himself at that time, and if he ever tried to imitate Robert Plant, he did it way better than the original. Plant has never had a voice, anyway.

  • @bessadale lmao Coverdale better than Plant?Your nuts!

  • @harel10

    @harel10

Agree. Tries to squeal like Ian Gillan and to strut and swagger like Robert Plant.

Coverdale had/has a great voice but no real personality, has been a Cover-version all his life, to the extent of being used by Jimmy Page to lure Plant back in the 1990's. Great voice (much, much better than Gillan's), but embarrassing to look at.

  • Deep Purple 3ª versión,

    David Coverdale

    Glenn Hughes

    excelente.

  • God bless Deep purple...!!!!!

    BUUUURNN!!
