i would suggest moving the ignitor the the end cap that way no spray ever gets on it and you will never miss a fire.

Try using a wider combustion chamber. The increase in gas velocity is down to changing the width of it's passageway. So large radius combustion chamber going into a smallish barrel should give you the greatest pressures and round/potato velocity. :)

That magic static remover works great, but I use white rain hair spray. It has no scent and if you want to recognize it in stores, it has a green, clear lid. I use it for all my spud guns.

I was going to use a bolt with a nut on the inside to hold it on and wrap the wire around the bolt(on the outside) and wrap it in electrical tape so I don't get shocked.

How did you do the ignition system? Did you just strip the wires and wrap them around the screws? What are the best type of screws to use? Somebody told me that flat ones are better that drywall screws.

well i went to home depot and bought a bbq igniter and then took to just regular drywall screws and screwed them into each side of the barrel where their almost touching on the inside then i striped and warped the ends of each of the 2 wires to one on one side one one the other and then tightened are loosened the screws to get the longest spark out of each click

you can use screws, or you can do what I did. I found some solid copper wire (pulled from wires commonly found and used to deliver power all over your house) and drilled a hole, the same size as the wire, on each side of the combustion chamber. I then fed the wires in so that they were 1/2 inch apart in the middle and taped them to the outside of the gun. I have never had a problem with ignition with this set-up. Works great!

watch out with this. The wires corrode after use and not to mention no mater how much tape you put on the outside, the hole you made for the wire will eventually become a weak spot in your chamber and after many use will blow up T_T... believe me, it's happend. I'd stick to screws with bolts as the bolts somewhat keep it together.

mine wasnt very powerful until i made a smaller combustion chamber on mine and now its awesome.... mine has dual ignition because its not a bbq igniter so theres always a backup i can post a video if u want

oh damn i just went to try it out and it doesnt work... i only use 3 quick shots of hairspray and then i screw on the lid, press my igniter and then nothing. then when i put a match over it after i unscrew the cap it lights..... i mean it lit the fuel yesterday.. i wonder why not today.. any advice?

try unscrewing your screws a little so the spark is longer if not when you spray your fuel try blowing a little air in before spraying and then if nether try a different fuel sorce try different stuff but remember always be safe no matter what keep a good head on your shoulder wile doing this

instead of the entire gun being straight, my gun has an elbow joint on the combustion chamber which makes it bend up at about a 45 degree angle and is a little less than a foot long, so would it be worth hacking it up making the combustion chamber smaller and getting rid of the bend?

i use axe deodorant spray it has butane in it :). but i bought a lantern lighter at walmart for like $3 and its water, fire, and windproof so it does the job. Plus the flint for it is cheap

just the tinniest spark on mine works for me as long as the fuel your using is flammable then your good.

BUT always remember to be safe no matter what your using and don't think it wont work always give a few clicks off after unscrewing the top just to make sure and don't look inside the chamber

We made our own potato gun and we can't fire shit. Maybe because we used Axe AND a lot of axe spray :p So thanks for the "use less" tip.

We also have problems with the sigaret lighter , how do you keep the 2 irons in the best position ? ours always move and wont work anymore :(

Dont bother with Focus, I've looked they dont have the right stuff. Just check about Hardware shops, you probally wont find the things the vids on here have, but you can find smaller parts. But as M4sk3dC4sp3r says, smaller is indeed better.

usually you make your chamber bout 1foot and you make your barrel double the size of your chamber so you make your barrel bout 24 inchs long thats the best size to make one

yes there is a spark before i spray the hairspray inside...i u sed hairspray and it didnt work. i will always have to spray it in with the ammo and wait till the next day to shoot it..that is the only way it works

i have a question about the type of pipe to use. i heard that u should only use pvc instead of abs because pvc has a pressure rating and most abs dont. and i see that your using abs, is that stuff safe?
