I have a Mac. How do I successfully edit and save the 'data.csv' file? I experimented by making minor changes and saving but could not get the data to display in the .html file. Advice for a novice?
@jaylynn330 This PDF might help statsilk.com/files/resources/StatPlanet_File_Structure.pdf (see also the forum statsilk.com/support/forums/statplanet). A feature where data can be imported directly within StatPlanet is being worked on.
@CodyInColor Unfortunately macros cannot be used in Open Office, but you can still edit the 'data.csv' file manually. You would need to copy and paste your data in following the example structure.
@aselvi100 You would need to run it through 'StatPlanet.html' in the 'web' folder (should work in Safari or any other browser as long as Flash Player is installed). Not all versions of Excel for Mac support Macros (the latest version of Excel does), otherwise you would need to edit the 'data.csv' file manually.
@jeeseun2 StatPlanet works just as well on a mac. The 'exe' file won't work but just go into the 'web' directory and open 'statplanet.html', which will open it in Safari or whichever browser you are using. The StatPlanet data editor should work in Excel for mac, otherwise you can also edit the 'data.csv' file directly.
@StatPlanet After downloading the program, I've put in "statplanet.html" on Safari and Google Chrome, but it doesn't open on any of them. I must be doing something wrong. Do you have any detailed instructions?
@jeeseun2 Sorry for the late reply, the comment system seemed to be broken for a while. It should open in Safari and Chrome as long as you have a relatively recent version of Flash Player installed.
You can overlay two data sets on the same map using the proportional symbol map (icon - bottom left). First bookmark an indicator (press the star button, top-left), then select another indicator for your second data set. The proportional symbol map will show the bookmarked data set, the map colors will show the data for the other indicator you have select. But it might be more effective to have several maps (i.e. static maps / print-screens) next to each other.
This in EXACTLY what I was looking for, cause sometimes you don't have the time or patience to learn actionscript and I needed an interactive infografic for college (for my web page) and you just made my day! thank u!
Thanks for your comment. It's not a mistake in this case. This map was created for Transparency International and uses the same color scheme as used on their website. In this map a lower value indicates higher (perception of) corruption, so a darker color makes sense.
In your other map called Corruptions Perceptions Index, you've made a slight mistake. You copied the values from Transparency International but you've inverted them. The darker shade is supposed to equate with the higher number, not vice versa. It is more intuitive that way. Your version is confusing because an index increases in intensity towards higher values, be it color or number, not the other way around. You need agreement with your color and number.

This looks reallly good. This is what I've been looking for, but I have a mac. Are there any similar programs that you can use on a mac?

does statplanet supports Mysql database? because i want to import some data from mysql database.

@emmas4impact not at the moment but XML support is in the works. You can export the mysql data (e.g. as csv) and import it into StatPlanet

How about if you have two or more data sets that you'd want to overlay? Is this possible?
