@pjws2006 Thank you so much for this comment - I'm glad this aria adds depth to your spiritual life. Handel was a sublime genius and was in tears on finishing the manuscript of Messiah in only three weeks. It is said he hardly ate or slept during the composition. I have had the good fortune to perform this work several times.
Excellent!! This aria sounds (and looks) difficult, you did a great job! I especially liked the trill at 3:34! *-*
We are reheasing Messiah at the moment and there are so many fast coloraturas in the chorals as well.... I'm already excited to hear our soloists in the concert!
Well done my lad, When WA Mozart edited and embellished Messiah to suit Classic/Rococo Era listeners, he acceleerted the tempi of this aria, and treated it as a segue almost a coda to "Comfort Ye". I rather like this tempo. Shows that the Baroque era was more than just
Vivaldi's "Sewing machine music". Concerti Grosso. 5***** to you!! :-)
Tim - many thanks for your kind support and compliments on your knowledge in this area. Apparently Mozart said 'Listen to Haendel - it's all there' . I presume we must thank him for 'Messiah' as we know it today.
I love this rendition the best of any I have heard. I had to go to Isaiah 40 and experience the JOY of this prophecy.
Thank you for adding such beautiful color to this awesome passage of Scripture.
I wanted to stand at the ending.
Thank you

OMG it's amazing... bellissimo.. bravo! Non conosco il pezzo, ma l 'agilità di certi vocalizzi di Händel non mi è nuova :)
