  • I love this rendition the best of any I have heard. I had to go to Isaiah 40 and experience the JOY of this prophecy.

Thank you for adding such beautiful color to this awesome passage of Scripture.

I wanted to stand at the ending.

    Thank you

  • @pjws2006 Thank you so much for this comment - I'm glad this aria adds depth to your spiritual life. Handel was a sublime genius and was in tears on finishing the manuscript of Messiah in only three weeks. It is said he hardly ate or slept during the composition. I have had the good fortune to perform this work several times.

  • OMG it's amazing... bellissimo.. bravo! Non conosco il pezzo, ma l 'agilità di certi vocalizzi di Händel non mi è nuova :)

  • Grazie tanto Eleonora - sei molto gentile. Ho registrato il questo pezzo da Messiah nel 2005.

  • very, very beautiful!

  • You are very kind - I'm glad you liked it.

  • I love Händel. Very sensitively sung.

  • Thanks you so much for this generous remark.

  • very beautiful David, your rendition is fantastic

  • Eliana - your comment is also beautiful and once again I am grateful.

  • Fantastico

  • Grazie tanto!

  • Great job David . . . 5 stars easy for that wonderful technique!

  • Thanks Edwin - this brings memories of rehearsals in freezing churches!

  • Ha perfettamente ragione il grande Roberto: perchè tenere nascosti questi gioielli???

    Bravo******

  • Come gentile sei tu - ti ringrazio per le tue parole poetice.

  • Excellent!! This aria sounds (and looks) difficult, you did a great job! I especially liked the trill at 3:34! *-*

We are reheasing Messiah at the moment and there are so many fast coloraturas in the chorals as well.... I'm already excited to hear our soloists in the concert!

  • Thanks Anna - most kind. I sang this in Messiah from 1970-2000. I'm glad you are enjoying rehearsals and hope to hear a recording of your concert.

  • Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You are generous. I'm glad you like it.

  • Straordinario!**************

    Brano bellissimo e molto difficile!

    Complimenti.

  • Grazie molto, Carlo. Sei generoso come sempre.

  • Well done my lad, When WA Mozart edited and embellished Messiah to suit Classic/Rococo Era listeners, he acceleerted the tempi of this aria, and treated it as a segue almost a coda to "Comfort Ye". I rather like this tempo. Shows that the Baroque era was more than just

Vivaldi's "Sewing machine music". Concerti Grosso. 5***** to you!! :-)

  • Tim - many thanks for your kind support and compliments on your knowledge in this area. Apparently Mozart said 'Listen to Haendel - it's all there' . I presume we must thank him for 'Messiah' as we know it today.

  • Great Handel!!!

  • Thank you Paolo - it's most encouraging to hear this from a distinguished musician like

    yourself.

  • Grazie mille, Roberto. Haendel e il mio compositore favorito per la voce classica.

  • Fantastico
