  • I love this song, but I think they would have made it big if they did a video for You Are Invited instead.

  • @JoeReaperBob really? I had done the exact same thing. Of course it was a long time ago but somehow the memory stuck.

  • thumbs up if you were hoping for a rancid cover

  • When I first got the Xbox, this is the only song I listened to off of the Xbox Exhibition Demo Disk besides "A Movie Script Ending" by Death Cab for Cutie. Awesome songs.

  • amazing !!!! TRES JOLI ENCOREEEEEEEE MERCI

  • LOL I listen to "Meat Hoof" and "Colonic" too!

  • I remember a day when they supported Pearl Jam in Polish city Katowice, it was amazing day, when I met this music. I hope to see them back again, it was one of these moment that you meet something unexpecetd that stays with you for years! TDP come back!

  • One of the most under-rated overlooked bands in the world. So talented.

  • herp derp mcgerp let's talk about other people's opinion of this song rather than our own!

  • I hate discovering bands when its too late :/ these guys are fucking awesome.

  • @Genericjinxx526 Just because its older music doesn't mean its not still great

  • @YupyupALEX you missed the part where i said they'ew fucking awesome :o

  • Fabulous song.

  • I discovered this video when I was like 10 on a game demo that xbox sent me. I've been looking for it all these years. if jimmy eat world made this song it would be 10 times better. This ones sick though.

  • @csaboy123 Jimmy Eat World? wtf they suck.

  • @csaboy123 WHAT?!?!??!

ONLY the dismemberment plan could write this song. just cuz the singer looks like the singer in jimmy eat world in this video doesn't mean like...ANY correlation. I respect your opinion, I'm just like...only The Dismemberment Plan could ever make Dismemberment Plan songs, and I don't think things could be ANY times better.

  • @AtotheDamn

I'm just stating my opinion. I think this song is great, but I'm a fan of jimmy eat world. It would sound great but get the publicity because jimmy eat world is a more well-known band

  • unfortunately one of the truths of society in general is that great art is never fully realized until many years after its release. In a perfect society, outstanding music and artists would be recognized for their great worth whilst they are still around. But until we can reach that ideal i'll sit content knowing that a few from the great masses appreciate and recognize something truly amazing, and for me, life changing.

  • driving down to Seattle to see them on Saturday.

  • driving down to seattle to see them Seattle.

  • I...... I am a time bomb. Ticking away the hours to blow your world apart.

  • I'm seeing these guys on the 19th in Chicago. Gotta drive from Detroit, but it's going to be so worth it!

  • @MLDaniels jealous...... they're not coming to california at all.

  • @thenoiboi That sucks, they put on a great show. I got to the front of the stage for the entire show.

  • @MLDaniels sadface for me, smiley for you. sounds awesome.

at least people got to hear their music live again. :)

  • this is ight

  • The bass player was my high school English teacher. I didn't believe him when he told the class.

  • @JairusVThat is fucking insane. Jelly

  • I heard them on NPR this morning, they're getting back together for a new album ;)

  • found this song like 5-6 years ago on an xbox (original) demo

amazing. this and a movie script ending by deathcab was on it.

  • Awesome that these guys are reforming. Just discovered them! Let's hope that they stick around. I was trying to think who they sound like- and no two great bands are exactly the same, of course- but a hint of Death Cab for Cutie there??

  • @GoodLiberal Maybe they took little pieces from each other, but The Plan has been around since 1993 while DCFC formed in 1997. I remember seeing them on their "Death & Dismemberment Tour" in 2002... good stuff.

  • i remembered this song from an old xbox demo game lol

  • I love how normal they look, no stupid fucking haircuts and bullshit, just making amazing music.

  • @birdablaze I dunno man, Travis' hair looks pretty cheesy haha

  • Reunion show at Webster Hall a little over a month away! So stoked.

  • one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands

  • Comment removed

  • first game i got also

  • HOLY SHIT THEY ARE REUNITING FOR SOME SHOWS IN DC AND ELSEWHERE THIS JANUARY CHECK PITCHFORK!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if you remember this from Xbox Exhibition Demo Disk

  • @WowEvanwoW haha, first game I ever got with my xbox, good memories ^_^

  • easily, as far as music as i know it is concerned, this is one of the most underrated and original bands i have ever known. seriously, words cannot describe how much i love dismemberment plan and the joy they give me.

  • Seems like I'm always finding about bands just right after they break up. It's really awful. First it was Q and not U, then The Blood Brothers, and now, of course, the Dismemberment Plan.

So many great bands are entirely unrewarded by popular culture. I miss the days when music mattered, and consumers valued talent rather than flash and shock.

  • @elmobluesux oh my god look at that idealism. Consumers have always valued flash and shock rather than talent (aside from a few exceptions). The golden age of music never existed. Why does that even matter to you? why do you need validation? stop giving a shit and enjoy whatever the fuck you listen to.

  • @streetballerv310 It matters to me, because when the world falls out of favor with actual music, actual music becomes less accessible. And while the public has always had tea with sugar, shock and awe is no where near the same the same thing it was then than it is now.

How do you dodge frustration when good music is ignored? Are you so anti-establishment that you believe once a good thing becomes popular it's some how less cool?

  • @elmobluesux who cares if good music is ignored? good art has always been ignored. Why do fans of obscure music crave the validation of the mainstream while at the same time lamenting about how terrible the mainstream is? D-Plan doesn't need to be heard by everybody for it to be good, it's JUST THAT GOOD.

  • Awesome!

If you don't like this you should buy some nickeback albums and jump off a cliff

  • @Icrushboulders i dont really like this but i FUCKING HATE Nickleback!!!!!!!

  • Yeah they really kicked ass. RIP Dismemberment Plan. "Change" was the best album of the 2000s decade

  • everyone in this band is amazing

  • Yeh I remember this from the xbox too!!!!!

  • lol i remeber seeing this a looooong time ago on a xbox 1 demo disc.whatever happend to these guys???

  • Dexter Morgan on bass guitar

  • @jimbodeen4 that's what i thought at first too xD

  • Comment removed

  • First listen to thees guys on the Exhibition demo or original xbox

  • Such a GREAT song !!! :-)

  • lol, i found this when i was searching for a achievement guide. (l4d2)

  • It's sped up a little from the album version, too. Was playing to it on guitar.... I'm in tune with the album but not with this. Funny.

  • I love this band, every album is timeless, his voice is just amazing

  • wondering if the cause of the edits was the video itself, maybe it couldn't carry that duration relative to it's (the video's) theme and artistic execution...

    great tune and great vid...

I've been a massive fan of the album E&I but hadn't heard this.

    thanks

  • I fucking hate the music biz these days with every atom in my body. Anyone who makes great original music isn't given a chance, and has to fight tooth and nail for any creative rights before producers and reps from the record company try to turn them into another money making, no soul clone of some other band. Maybe in 20 years, more people will know about The Dismemberment Plan and shudder when they realize what they missed.

  • @michaelhawk73 that's how it's always been though. in the 60's everyone was gaga over the Beatles while the Velvet Underground was making far more original music.

  • @michaelhawk73 We should all beat up MUSIC CRITICS AND WRITERS who now only promote the MILLIONAIRES who are already successful, b/c they get kickback$ from the major labels and Ticketmaster.

  • @TouchingYou Are you fucking dumb? Pitchfork gave the D-Plan's album Emergency and I a 10/10 and all Pitchfork does is try to create new famous artists for the hipsters to listen to. The music critics fucking love The D-Plan as much as I disagree with the criticism of music.

  • @paniccat I think what you mean to say is that Pitchfork BREAKS new artists for hipsters to listen to. They don't create bands, they just give them great exposure.

  • @paniccat pitchfork originally gave the album a 9.6 (1999), the reissue got a 10 (2011)

  • @michaelhawk73 But if everyone listened to this band, the same thing would happen to them. That's why I just ignore all mainstream crap.

    It's a good thing they're pretty underground.

  • @michaelhawk73 cry me a river.

  • @michaelhawk73 you can't blame the record companies for wanting to make money, as they are (obviously) companies. If people had taste in music then good bands would get picked up by labels because they could actually make money. But people don't have taste. And they probably never will.

  • SHUT IT!! WIGGER!!

  • Also, I refuse to count "A People's History of..." as a true Plan album; it was done by a bunch of other people. I also find the remixes to be fairly mediocre.

  • Oh Look, is the INBRED 'expert' again! AhAhAh! You are a LOSER. Face it. Now, go and jump.

  • man this is another one of those bands I hate myself for never seeing live when they were still playing. I give mad props to their drummer. I play drums and have for awhile and still can't touch the guys skill. SOO amazing

  • For real!

  • who are the bands in this video?

  • best band ever

  • such good music, mad props to d-plan.

  • Respect is the only way I can put this.

  • rox!

  • such a sick fuckin drummer

  • to bad, this band made 2 good albums, yet all of them(wich i think was 4 if i'm not correct) never sold enough copys, so they had to get jobs to pay off the bills...

  • "!" was tremendous. I think they made two amazing albums and two good ones.

  • @JoeDeceiver

In addition to "!", which was the other amazing one?

  • Emergency & I was the other amazing one, in my opinion.

  • The idea wasn't really ripped off by the Vines. The Vines didn't have other bands in their video did they?

  • The violin at 1:48 and 2:10 is so nice.

  • Mainstream is okay.

Back alley music or little known groups are awesome. They don't have the pressure to be something their not. They also have the guts to be who they are. Now this band is awesome. I'd give more stars but I'm not given more than 5 to work with.

  • they broke up years ago, dragon

  • IDK.... I like this band a lot, but they're lacking something to make them one of the best out there without a doubt.... not quite there yet...

    i'm sure they'll figure it out.... :/

  • Well aren't you the cutest little fucking music critic, dragonX72100. Absolutely fantastic diagnosis, you dumbshit you.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually you're response kinda put you back in my favor.

  • aukamacic, of course not!

  • are there any bands nowadays that can compare to this? damn

  • no, which proves, that which is popular is rarely good.... brilliant band

  • iv only just discovered the dismemberment plan, which album should I get first?

  • Change

  • Anyone other than Change.

    I would suggest ...is terrified!

    Or Emergency & I.

  • ALL ARE GREAT

  • Emergeny & I

  • If you happen to find more than one, just close your eyes, and grab one....they're all amazing. Emergency and I is my personal fave, though.

  • Emergency & I, then Change. Both are fantastic. Their earlier stuff is less wildly funky

  • these guys are amazing

  • Is this the same band or a new line-up?

  • was this an original video or was it made up. Well its good, but the song is really good. They are actually a good band. They made a good christmas song too or version, the "this christmas" song

  • first heard this in one of my favorite bmx videos "midwhere" that film put the spotlight on the midwest scene which still shreds just as hard today. thank you garret rap for making that film!

  • this was on my xbox demo disk and i never decided to look them up till now... shit they rock

  • Lol! I first found out about them the same way. Along with the three other bands on that disc; The Long Winters, Kind of Like Spitting, and OF COURSE Death Cab for Cutie...John Vanderslice was mentioned in the book, but not on the disc, cos of his "child porn" dispute with Microsoft....there was allso some electronica dood featured on the disc, too...forgot his name. Good times!

  • cex maybe?

  • Plan B. That was his name.

  • Me three man.

  • me 4

  • this band is so sadly underrated

  • this whole band went to my school.

  • fucking lefty drummer, i cant even look at him haha, but he is does have a cool style. Good song, and cool idea for a video!

  • love this song fount out bout them on my xbox demo disk haaha

  • hah same here

  • Yeah me to, I loved it when I found it all those years ago...

  • the band broke up

    :(

  • I still love this song,I found out about it on a Xbox demo disc

  • colonic is the greatest band name ever

  • I just found these guys. It disappoints me to know they're no longer a group.

  • I think it's the saddest thing I've ever found out on Wikipedia :/

  • @si13ntn1nj4077 guitarist plays on my wow server, lol.

  • @si13ntn1nj4077 they are goin on tour

  • @si13ntn1nj4077 are you sure?

they have show coming in chicago. maybe they still tour

  • @pizzaROX they broke up but they're back together for the re-release of Emergency and I.

  • @si13ntn1nj4077 they ARE going on a reunion tour in 2011 so maybe there's hope yeah?

  • @si13ntn1nj4077 Theyr apperantly getting back together because..theyr having a concert near where i live

  • @si13ntn1nj4077 They are gonna be on Jimmy Fallon tonight! lol

  • Superduper great song !

  • i love this song and the vid is so cool

  • Wow, when I started watching this I though he looks a little like Edward Norton, too.

First time hearing this band. I like it.

  • travis looks like edward norton

  • i<3dplan!

  • que buena cancion.

  • they were great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Isn´t that the Drummer of Muse sitting in front of the Computer?

  • yyyyyeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssss

  • Hahahaha the interview is "sellout" right? yea thats the same reason i searched this band looking for more music, its good.

  • Is Ted Leo one of the people who pops up as a "singer" in this video!?

  • cedric from the mars volta mentioned theses guys in an interview, and thats why i checked 'em out, they are GREAT!!!!

  • Cedric does know what hes talking about Dismemberment plan is just 100% brilliant

  • great band...underated indeed!

  • I love the SG-X!!

  • one of the most underrated bands imo

  • i have that discount shirt too!

  • good story.

    nice ending.

  • fuckin amazing band!

  • This is an awesome band! I can't believe their bass player is a high school teacher!

  • damn this is really good

  • awesome band... iremember when this cd came out! the whole cd is terrific. its called changes i think

  • I miss them sooo much sometimes.

They set up some reunion shows to benefit J. Robbins son and they sold out in like 4 minutes.

  • they mutated into broken social scene

  • wrong

  • Has anyone noticed that this video sounds a little different than the studio? This sounds like its playing at a slightly higher pitch.

  • Youtoob isn't quite Hi-Fi. But it sounds like the song has been edited for the video to make it shorter.

  • I think the video was for the song "Ride."

  • Yeah, specially that beardy left-handed bassist dude in the bright orange chemise. What a stallion! I love their dorkish looks.

  • in the vines video they have a guy that looks just like that as a drummer.... can't believe they (the vines) got away with such a huge rip off

  • word. ripped the fuck off.

  • awesome song, but what a dorky looking band

  • most good bands are.

  • Not only is this song amazing, it's also really good skate music. And fuck The Vines. They're about as original as a photocopy.

  • Anyone want to clue me in on what Vines song/video ripped this off? I'm gonna search after I watch this, but just in case I don't find it I'd like to know.

  • their video for "ride". same sort of thing going on. but not sure if it's just a coincidence. travis morrison didn't seem to think so.

  • Yeah, I wouldn't really go into rip-off territory on that one. That Vines song is really obnoxious though.

  • great band.great drummer

  • god I miss this band!

  • Dude, screw the fucking Vines.

  • Dismemberment Plan is so much more talented than that Nirvana cover band.

  • I think it's an amazing song and video.

  • Lame, poorly lit and shot video for one of the best bands ever.
