He couldn't handly guys who are big and technical so he doesn't fight them.

Rogers was 265 lb and Fedor handled him just fine.. Hong-Man Choi was over 300 lbs and he was dealt with easily.. Weight really doesnt matter when your are fighting Fedor

@NukeDukem So what Rogers and Choi aren't that good compared to the ufc heavyweights in my opinion. I don't want to take anything away from them but especially Choi is not on the top level. And look what Overeem did to Rogers. Fedor isn't above weightclasses. As soon as he fights someone that is bigger and stronger and skillfull, he could get his ass kicked. That is why he is so picky about his fights.

@NukeDukem It is not only about Lesnar. Fedor would have problems with a lot of big heavyweights. He would have problems against Overeem as well. It is not a UFC thing. Fedor is not as strong as those heavyweights and they have reach on him. The sport is at a level, where he can't compensate his bodysize and so on with just technique. It is not Pride anymore. He couldn't handly guys who are big and technical so he doesn't fight them.

I think Arlovski thought Fedor was hurt or in trouble and would shoot or go for some sort of takedown at that moment, as Fedor was against the ropes, and Fedor just out thunk him and countered with an overhand right and it landed perfect...

if you look at it and think about it the force of fedor's bounce off the ropes along with arlovski's body flying towards fedor added to the force of the punch. kind of like to cars colliding except one had a giant fist at the end. so not only did arlovski make a dumb move,he probably made it worse by kicking fedor into the ropes.

go to 5:13 where fedor throws a punch at arlovski. damn andrei reacted fast to that. moved his head and clipped fedor's temple with a left instantly. that guy has some REALLY fast hands.
yeah that one stumbled fedor a little, you could see he was surprised. i don't think he expected that kind of speed. he was noticeably more careful after that for the rest of the fight.

god, that sucks so bad for AA. he was clearly outstriking fedor. fedor didn't land one shot until the end, and had been hit by some powerful shots multiple times.
if AA had just been a bit more disciplined he may very well have pulled it off. bad decisions have cost him fights in the past too like the second time he fought sylvia. he had tim BADLY hurt, then rushed in with his hands down to get KTFO.
i've never seen an MMA fighter with hands nearly as sharp as arlovski's in this fight. wow.

@INTERNATIONALvids, not at all playing with him. Fedor was taking some heat and in a little trouble but the other guy was way too cocky and left himself wide open for the surprise counter punch. He wasn't playing stupid he just wasn't phased. If the guy would have kept composure he could of followed up with a better follow up on the blows that landed but he underestimated Fedor's composure and chin.

because of this he was trying to not be too aggressive and rush in trying to get a KO. he knows arlovski would have caught him. you can see his plan change, and tried to make him overcommit. and it worked. he's smart.

@INTERNATIONALvids fedor did start trying to get him to drop his guard by taking it easy after a minute or so, but it looks like arlovski did genuinely surprise him from the bell with how sharp his hands are. especially the very first shot, where fedor stumbled a little bit. you could see he was thinking like "shit he's pretty quick"

Chin or no chin doesn't matter. He shouldn't lower his hands when striking. This stuff won't happen if you protect your chin. It would be harder to defend a takedown, but a KO is just worse.

Lesnar has a lot of potential, but we haven't seen much of him yet. So far it's hard to say where he's at. Wrestling is his bread and butter, but he wasn't winning that part against Couture. While Lesnar outmuscled, outsized and outreached Couture big time. On top of that Couture didn't fight for over a year and doesn't really have an age advantage.

Overeem would be his toughest fight. He has evolved a lot in two years and is an elite K1- fighter with wins over Aerts and Hari. Other than that, Barnett would be a tough one as well.
I doubt Lesnar would be able to even beat Arlovski.
