  • no do you have to have one

  • @codlord10 if you want to play it, or you will have to load it into a daw that has a piano roll so you can draw in notes.

  • @SoundsAndGear oh thanks :)

  • @SoundsAndGear oh thanks but what key exactly is it sorry im new and i only have demo

  • @codlord10 do you have a midi keyboard hooked up to your computer? If so, any of the keys you hit will play a note in the synth

  • im confused what button do you actually click to make the actuall sound

  • @codlord10 the keys on your keyboard

  • @SoundsAndGear hey dude, the preset sound have this keyboard as default, however the new sounds do not, do you know how to enable them? Thanks

  • @02tweeks what keyboard as default? I'm not sure what you're asking.

  • hey can someone help me...

so do you need a keyboard to play the sounds on this thing or what?

  • @DYlaNpItyDaFOOL yes, or you can load it in your daw and draw in notes to sequence it

  • @SoundsAndGear i have my keyboard plugged into my computer. the computer and massive both say that its connected to the keyboard but the keyboard's sound isnt being affected by massive. any thoughts on why?

  • @InfamousTrapper25 not sure what you're trying to do. Massive is an instrument of it's own, so your keyboard would be used to trigger it, it will not be used to effect your keyboard. Check the audio outputs of massive to see where they are set to.

  • @SoundsAndGear it doesnt affect it? sorry im new to the whole synth sounds haha. then im confused on what massive does...how do you make the sounds?

  • @InfamousTrapper25 no, you just play them, massive makes the sounds, you use your keyboard to play it. How is your keyboard hooked up to your computer? Where does your audio come out at? You need to make sure massive is set to send it's audio out of your computer to your speakers.

  • @SoundsAndGear oh i get it. how do i make the audio come out of my computer speakers? the audio comes out of my computer right now. its hooked to my computer through a midi cable i guess i dont know what kind off the top of my head. does it matter what kind?

  • @InfamousTrapper25 nah, it don't matter you should be good. Go into massive and set the audio output to use your computer's audio device.

  • @SoundsAndGear is that under midi?

  • @InfamousTrapper25 nah, audio settings, should be an audio tab in your preferences

  • @SoundsAndGear i dont have an audio tab haha. well actually i guess i do. it doesnt specifically say audio tab though. theres ones that say like...new sound, open sound, save, save as, options, audio and midi something, and i think thats it. i checked the audio and midi tab thing and the output said the same soundcard as the one i was using so im confused why its not coming out of my computer

  • @InfamousTrapper25 yeah, you just mentioned it, in your audio midi settings, it's using your soundcard, so you should hear it if you load a sound. If there is no sound loaded you will not hear anything.

  • @SoundsAndGear there are sounds loaded. thats why im confused why it doesnt make any sound when i play notes. i feel like im making a big stupid mistake somewhere and not realizing it haha

  • @InfamousTrapper25 it's the audio settings. Go to audio midi settings, see what driver it's using for the audio output, see what device it's using, then go to the routing tab and see what outputs it's connected to. It needs to have your computer speakers as the output for it to work

  • @SoundsAndGear the audio output says my soundcard. and for the routing tab it says the massive speakers or something like that. is it supposed to say that?

  • @SoundsAndGear wait my bad. it actually says my soundcard for the audio output and the routing tab. so everything your telling me to do is already like...done on my computer. this is frusterating haha

  • @InfamousTrapper25 yeah but you should have an output for the left and right, and in your midi tab you should see whatever midi cable/interface you are using. Other than that it's hard to say what's wrong without seeing it.

  • @SoundsAndGear yeah i know it does say the midi cable im using. thats really weird

  • @InfamousTrapper25 yeah, not sure fam, sounds like an audio issue to me.

  • @SoundsAndGear do you think i should call a computer person or something?

  • @DYlaNpItyDaFOOL I asked the same question 3 days ago :) I've discovered that Massive is a plug in and you need recording software, such as Logic, in order to to use it properly. If you open up your recording software, select an instrument and then go to plug ins and select 'Massive'. Then 'Massive' should open and then any bars to put in to your recording software will play the synths in massive. Different software works different but I hope that this helps in one way or another.

  • How the hell do I press PLAY on this thing xD ?

  • @K1rkHammet it's not a sequencer, you play it with your keyboard or from the piano roll in your daw

  • thx

  • This intro and outro has damn deep bass man. For some peeps it might be too deep ;)

  • hey basically when i play my massive ni on its own to make a wobble for dubstep it sounds fine but when i play it whilst playing with the actual beat and strings and piano it sounds realy weird like no wobble or dubsteppy sound just like a whistle sorta thing please help :(

  • What are the minimum requirements to run this on your Laptop?

  • @M0CH4B34R they have them posted on their website, I don't know them off hand.

  • Perhaps you can help me here please! I am totally confused... This here looks really good, but i thought it was its own program, and peoepl are talking about using it with Fl etc? whats that all about? will I have to get Fl or reason or something like those, then download this and use them together? how does it all work! :(

  • @BassZface well, you can play it alone, but if you want to record what you're playing most people will use a host of some sort like fl studio, reaper, ableton live, etc.

  • @SoundsAndGear Where can I download it from? I see so many packages.. Its extremely confusing :P

  • @BassZface not sure what you mean by download, most companies have demos directly on their website you can download. FL Studio has a demo, ableton live, as well as Reaper. Reaper is the full program, you can save your music and everything, you can just pay for it when you decide if you like it or not.

  • @SoundsAndGear Wait what do you mean by reaper? Is reaper a seperate company to FL?or just a different package of FL?theres so many damn things..it gets me so confused, sorry if i confuse you to

    haha

    Tell me this

    which is better,FL or Reaper?

do i download native instrument massive as a single program or do they have other programs, because ive seen different types?

how do i connect FL and massive together as seen on other videos?

Sorry, these are noob questions, only starting this whole thing :P

  • @BassZface reaper is different, flstudio is probably easier to pick up on. You load massive as a plugin inside of fl studio. NI has a bunch of different instruments and programs to choose from, check their website.

  • @SoundsAndGear I did check there site, thats what confused me hehe, and massive is the name of one of there programs? I get you know, thank you SO MUCH! for summing all this down and taking the time, respect for that greatly :)

  • @BassZface no problem bro, yeah massive is just one of their programs, they have a few, and they aren't the only ones, there's ikmultimedia, spectrasonics, tone2, motu....yeah, a bunch :) Glad to help!

  • good man ;)

  • Haha, 1:55 he is not turning the osc 2 down, he is fading the output of the osc 2 from the first to the second filter.

  • does anyone know if you can use massive with garageband?? i always see tutorials of massive with FL studios and reason but never garageband

  • @NozickaRhymes yes, it works in garage band, it doesn't work in Reason. You can use it in any host that opens AU, VST, or RTAS plugins.

  • @SoundsAndGear how do you make it work in garageband?! thank you

  • @NozickaRhymes you just load the AU version of the plugin and let garage band know where it is, it should find it. I don't use a mac so I'm not sure. The manual should show you how to load it in Garageband though

  • @SoundsAndGear Perhaps you can help me here please! I am totally confused... This here looks really good, but i thought it was its own program, and peoepl are talking about using it with Fl etc? whats that all about? will I have to get Fl or reason or something like those, then download this and use them together? how does it all work! :(

  • HOLY SHIT YOU LOOK LIKE WILL.I.AM

    with dreads...

  • @SADDAMNYOUALL lol, thanks fam, glad to help!

  • can you integrate or use the sounds you make in this program in reason 5???

  • @blsbutcha no, not unless you sample them and turn them into wave files

  • lmao the video froze at 30 seconds i thought he was going to hit me with the box LOL

  • Does Skrillex use this?

  • @hakametal i believe so. i think he also uses mods for more sound variety

  • @hakametal yap

  • nice fam,

im late on this1 too but i like it

  • @soulgoodmusictube it's dope

  • I really need some new synths in my setup, and everyone keeps telling me I should go softsynth. Things is, I love hardware :-/ but I'm willing to try.

Anyways, I'm debating between Massive and Zebra- any opinions?

  • @drakeishfyre both of them are nice, I think they both have demos too, I would try them and see which one you like

  • @drakeishfyre Yeah man, it really depends what you're more into. I'm really into the electro/fidget house and dubstep so Massive, for me at least, is as good as it gets. But like he said, try the demos and see what you like.

  • @drakeishfyre go softsynth and use your old synth as a controller. you can get some much better results. get a nice drumpad and your little studio is complete.

  • @DeeJayBlastoise

Thnks ! but i got so upset that now im using the Zebra2 as my synth, its a great synth

  • Nice!

  • Hi, im using massive and im having a problem

when i make a sequence with massive when i hit the notes in my keyboards the sequence sounds, but when i start making the bars in the piano roll the sequence doesnt sound, the only thing that sounds is the created patch but without the sequence, any one know why ???

  • @Ostplayer sounds like a setting in your host, which daw are you using? Make sure it's record enabled for the massive track.

  • @SoundsAndGear

Im using fl studio, but when i do not record and paint my notes with the pencil, it doesnt play the sequence ! only the oscilators from the parch, and when i hit the notes directly from mi keyboard it does play the sequence, its driving me crazy !

  • @Ostplayer sorry I don't use flstudiio but that doesn't seem right at all lol. Does it work properly with other plugins?

  • @SoundsAndGear

    Yes, perfect

i also use thor from reason and the Synth Zebra and they both work perfectly fine , i dont know what to do

  • @Ostplayer have you checked with image line?

  • @SoundsAndGear

Yes but they don´t know what it is

  • @Ostplayer ive got exaactly the same problem only in piano roll does it sond good but when I play the pattern it's just a very low humming sound

  • @Ostplayer Yeah I've got the exact same problem!

  • @Ostplayer go to massive global tab and uncheck external sync!

  • @fruitypebbles904

already did it doesnt work :S

  • @Ostplayer well youre doing something wrong

  • @fruitypebbles904 Nevermind, i changed my vst because massive was having some bugs but well

  • @Ostplayer damn massive is the shit, did you have a cracked version or did you buy it?

  • @fruitypebbles904

cracked version, but anyway i prefer my new synth than massive, is more reliable

  • OMG! dis dis hav dat guitar dat was playin in da intro????!!!!!!!

  • @DuhAprilFool no it doesn't.

  • "a super, crazy... fat... sounding, crazy... synth plug-in". hahahaha

  • Hah! Not very informative, but is cool!

  • Why yes....unless you do it for us! ;)

  • @musiccomputing lol...no thanks

  • Have you guys seen the new StudioBLADE keyboard workstation? It's perfect for playing all of your VSTs live or in the studio! Click on the link below to see the videos on our profile.

  • @musiccomputing are you gonna add this same comment to every video man? lol

  • Can anybody send me a link or sum? i dont want the goddamn demo version! tnx.

  • @abevink92 if you don't want the demo version go buy the full version

  • I tried EVERYTHING.. And I get no sound, nothing, nada.. help me :'( !

  • @arnohofman need more info than that, what program are you using it in, what is your interface, do you get sound from other instruments, etc. There isn't much configuration you need to do with this, just load it up in your sequencer and you should hear it.

  • @SoundsAndGear (I'm not good in English). How do i use a programm in it? interface? I just get the screen when i open massive. And when move the knobs or do anything else, there is no sound at all.

Do I need to change anything in options or??

  • @arnohofman should be a default sound loaded, are you opening massive by itself or inside of a sequencer software? If by itself, you need to go into preferences and set it to use your sound device for an output.

  • @SoundsAndGear Yes i seleced my sound device for an output. But for example, If i use create 'new sound' or just select a sound that's alrdy in the programm, I can do everything with the knobs but there is just no sound.

  • @arnohofman something is not right with your sound setup, that's the only thing I can think of.

  • @SoundsAndGear Do I need to ' load ' a track or something? I will check everything once again. So much thanks for the help ! ! You're the best.

  • @arnohofman no, you just need to enable the track you have massive on, depending on which software you are using it in. Record enable the track then you should be able to play sounds from massive, if you're using it standalone (not in a sequencer) then you should just be able to load a play the sounds.

  • @SoundsAndGear OKay :) I have mixcraft 5 at the moment, so you can use massive with it. Are the're tutorials for that showing how to use it with mixcraft? or any other program?

  • @arnohofman if mixcraft loads vst plugins, it should work fine

  • i need a tutorial i wanna make a synte similar to jump smoker!!!!

    the track is!!!

    Don' t Be A Douchebag!!!

    thanks 4 ur help!!!

  • @funkahh can't say I've heard of them before, I just looked it up, not sure you need a tutorial on that sound, it's a pretty common synth sound you can make with many different plugins.

  • i need help hookin in my synth to my computer to use it with massive

  • @leadfarmer13 you need a midi interface

  • I'm wondering how I can hook this up to ableton.

  • @InnocentzRaptor drop it in as a plugin

  • @InnocentzRaptor It's not hard. It works as a plugin to any music software.

  • o la o la

  • Where can i hear the music/beat you always play at the begging of your videos? I like it!!

  • @cabinda4ever I just use it for my videos

  • Hey can you tell me how to assign midi channels?

  • terrible tutorial. dude doesnt even know how to avoid clipping.

  • @HORSEFORCEOFCOURSE

    1. it's not a tutorial, i'm not trying to teach anything, just showing what's in it and some of the sounds.

    2. it's not clipping, the quality of the webcam mic is horrible, which is why I switched to recording the audio directly in the rest of my videos

  • @HORSEFORCEOFCOURSE you just got served.

  • haha u tha man and yo i jus cant get nuf of tht beat at start of ur vids

  • @rav3beats whasup yo, thanks for watchin lol

  • When you said you were turning down Oscillator 2 you were just adjusting the filter send between filter 1 and 2. Just to let you know. =)

Good tutorial. One of my favorite plugins.

  • @blackpepper808 thanks lol, got a little excited then lol...didn't pay attention lol.

  • support man !

  • huh? lol...

    thanks for watchin

  • why i can't hear anything than I set some samples or whatever to play? I can't do anything cuz even if it gets loaded, it doesn't play ;(

  • im not sure what's going on over there, sounds like you don't have something setup properly

  • @KARTOMAGAS

what program are u running it in?

  • nvm, I just figure it out that if anybody wants to feel how music is create, they have to pay money for that, even if it payback

  • @KARTOMAGAS yes that's right if you want to acquire something that costs money you have to pay for it.

  • it's not for samples .. it's a midi vst instrament

you need to assign it to a channel and then press keys on your midi controller/keyboard (or virtual midi controller/keyboard)

  • buy a new pc if it's eating up yuor cpu that badly O.o

  • its not bad, it's just known to be a cpu hog, some plugins are some arent'. A few of the patches get pretty hungry but for the most part it's okay.

  • @SoundsAndGear

Yeah i never thought it was that bad ... the cpu mesure thing on mine never goes above 7% and that's with like 5-6 odd of them running FX'ed to the max - and it only filikers between 5-7 average 5% .. but for my cpu that's quite a bit .. I can imagin on older pc's it may strain then a bit (i know it probably wouldn't even of worked on my old pc ... but that's cos it pre dates dinosaws :P )

  • yeah...I hear ya man! lol

  • Yo wats software do u record your screen with ??

  • camtasia

  • @SoundsAndGear Cheeerrrrz =]

  • no problem man!

  • Yes, will check out all of them! Thanks!

  • cool lol, enjoy!

  • This is really cool! Great job! If you do not mind, what the background melody is? Which instrument do you use for the heavy bass? Thanks a lot!

  • not sure what you mean, I assume my intro music? I use starsynth from lanstarr, it's a free bass synth I've been using for a while, I like it.

  • right, I meant the intro music, which also show at the very end of the video. the instruments are great and the melody is fantastic! What is the name of the song of the intro part?

  • no name, just an instrumental I made and put as my intro/outro music, just something I put together.

  • Oh, man, you are super! That is a great intro/outro. No wonder I could not find the song by asking others. Thanks a lot for the great video!

  • What is the guitar part at the intro? Which instrument is that? The string part at the outtro is great too. More info would be really appreciated? I use cubase by the way.

  • thank you! that means a lot to me, glad you enjoyed it! I have plenty others, make sure you check them out when you have time. :)

  • some guitar sounds I chopped up and put together, string hit I can't remember where I got it from lol.

  • hieroglyphics, lol.

  • :) lol hahahaha.

  • I dont know why people bother with this stuff. Reason destroys all.

  • lol, nice opinion... obviously there are many options out depending on how you work.

I never liked reason at all... so I'd rather have plugins that I can use in whatever host I wish

It's all good though, that's why there are options, everyone can use what they want, all that matters is what works for you.

  • reason sounds weak as shit compared to this what the hell u talking about seriously get real

  • Your daughter thought you were crazy???? Let me write that down. Just kidding - dude you get only about 3 or 4 sounds on this demo. Can you do another demo just demoing the wide variety of sounds?

  • Yeah...I may do another video just showcasing the sounds, this was more of a general overview of the whole thing.

  • So yeah it gets like thousands of sounds right?

  • not sure exactly how many sounds are in there, it's a ton tho, you should download the demo and try it out.

  • Cakewalk is running a promo until tomorrow for $99 online sale - and - someone bought something from me on ebay and so my paypal balance is $99. What say you.

  • what can you get from cakewalk for 99? Is it the actual DAW or one of their synths? I don't use cakewalk personally so I can't really comment, I can say anything you get from NI is worth it lol. Cakewalk does have some good synth plugins as well.

  • hey between this and dcam synth squad, which one you recomend more? and why? thanks for your answer

  • depends on what you are after, I like them both for different reasons. DCAM has more of an "analog feel" if you get what I'm saying? You should try the demos of them, they both have demo versions on their websites...it's hard to pick one, as they both are awesome and different

  • thanks a lot! ok I'll try the demos, I don't why I was expecting that one was way more good than other but anyway you said both are awesome and different so that evacuate my doubts

  • yeah, they do different things. DCAM is a super bargin because you really get 4 different synths in the package. Massive is one of the best synths around, period. So you can't go wrong with either one.

  • it comes as a vst, rtas, and au plugin so I'm pretty sure it can work in logic express. As far as prices, they are all pretty much the same wherever I see it.

  • can you explain to me what the voices options are for?

  • how many voices it will use at once. the more voices the more cpu it will use, so you can play with it according to your computers capabilities and still get good sounds.

  • I'm haveing problems with Massive on FL8. When I have Massive opened it plays fine when I am messing around with nothing playing just pressing keys. IT WORKS. BUT!! when I play the melody back, the sound itself changes and sounds nothing like the original sound. This is a huge problem for me. NI can't even answer my questions.

  • I'd have to know exactly what/when it happens. Is it only when you play back recorded notes? Does it play a totally different sound than what you started with? Like is is changing the preset on you?

  • my best example. I'll choose butterfly stance. Cool sound . I'll ONLY be messing with the notes, I only use my actual pc keyboard for keys. So i'll just be foolin around with keys. I push play and Then I'll do the same thing but ya Like u said the sound is sustained if thats the right term. the style varies but its just a plain sine sound. it does this 4 a majority of the sounds. weird thing is that i just put massive on my other pc and it does the exact opposite. only changes when i'm messing

  • around on the notes. when I push play is when Butterfly stance will play the correct sound. Now I've yet to have Native Instruments help me after 20+ emails. no 1 seems to be able to figure out my real problem. they say it's my soundcard but I run a XPS 430, no problem cuz its brand new. I'm really lost.

  • I wonder is it not reading the note input properly. How does it work if you just draw your notes in piano roll, let me know if it plays the proper sounds then.

  • the same I can actually go into piano roll and press the keys and it sounds good. but as soon as I push the play button to hear my notes back it sounds horrible. a really bad clipping noise sometimes. But its very odd how my other PC is doing the exact opposite. Only when I mess around with the keys does it clip and sound off. when I press play it works fine. IDK if it's me or what the hell it is. If NI can't fix this I'm basically fucked and waisted $200.

  • No I'm running Vista and Can't get the Asio to run. But I was told My XPS 430 should be good on sound. I was also told I need to update my soundcard. How strong is the Asio? No other soundcard.

  • I'm running asio on a vista system right now, it should work, it doesn't "run" it just starts when you launch an audio program that uses it. Uninstall it then reinstall, and when you do, make sure you check "install offline settings" that will give you a shortcut to the control panel.

  • I've never heard of that issue before, are you using asio drivers for your soundcards on those machines or do you have third-party audio interfaces. I'm trying to think what it could be. Download reaper and load it up and see if it does the same in there.

  • great demo!

  • thanks for watching! glad you liked it.

  • that would be insane in the membrane dude. keep up the good reviews :)

  • thanks bro, tell ya friends to subscribe too lol. Make sure you come by my site too man, you'll love it.

  • subscribed :), what would you personally recommend, massive or omnisphere?! thanks x
