  • Woman trying to make a joke.... uggh

  • thumbs up for the sound man :)

  • NO SHIT, WHEN THAT CHORD PLAYED, THE FIRST THING I THOUGHT, WAS LIME GREEN.......

    THEN HE SAID LIME GREEN!!!

    WHAT THE FUCK

    MIND..... BLOWN.....

  • I grew up associating days with their corresponding colours in the TV guide magazine, so:

    Monday=Yellow

    Tuesday=Purple

    Wednesday=Green

    Thursday=Pink

    Friday=Turquoise

    Saturday=Red

    Sunday=Blue

Anyone else have the same colour for one of the days?

  • It was odd, because I was synaesthetic for just a few months while I was about 14, and after a while I just suddenly wasn't.

  • Monday-Friday = White

    Saturday and Sunday = Black

  • Wednesday yellow, that's all really.

  • isnt all this associated with schizophrenia?

  • @maccaaccam99 Why would it be associated with schizophrenia?

  • I don't see colours, I'm colourblind.

  • @S1CKDRIFT3R

Doesn't mean you see the world in black and white :/

  • @sinorsaint I was diagnosed with blue cone monochromatism when I was 5, so basically yeah, I can't see red or green and the blue receptors are damaged because I have photophobia which I didn't know about, so I hardly see that too, thank you for the accusation that I was lying.

  • @S1CKDRIFT3R ...I never understand why everyone feels so defensive when someone comments on the other.

I didn't accuse you of lying, and i'm sure you could tell from the comment i made..

It was just a comment... i didn't mean to accuse you of anything.

I'm sorry for your eyesight. Generally, people who are colorblind tend to see different colors, and so i assumed you were that type of colorblind.

    I was wrong in assuming.

  • Monday Red

    Tuesday Blue

    Wednesday Purple

    Thursday Green

    Friday Cyan

    Saturday Yellow

    Sunday Orange

  • holy crap, MYCROFT

  • Was anyone else terribly disappointed when they realized that they DON'T assign colours to sounds/days of the week? :'(

  • @miceruletheworld42 I bet people actually do but just never thought about it before. It might not be a color exactly, but perhaps a memory or mental picture that might have a dominating color in it. The trick, now, is to not associate the colors that Alan just used. :D

  • Monday is Olive Drab, and the chord was bright yellow.

  • This clip brings out the synthesiacs, doesn't it... (And no, I did not get that from this clip, I read about it in a book when I was 11)

  • Why is it that Friday is such a dark colour to them? Black, dark blue, and in the comments below, friday is also dark to some. I don't see any colours with anything, but if I would, friday would probably be a bright one: weekend!!!

  • I see colours when I think of numbers.

  • @TheNerimonster You sir have Aperger's.

  • I must be boring I don't see any colours associate days or music

  • I more associate shapes with colours? Square - blue, triangle - green, circle - orange.

  • Monday - Dark Blue

    Tuesday - Yellow

    Wednesday - Green

    Tuesday - Red

    Friday - Orange

    Am I the only one?

  • @eoPism Wednesday is indeed green to me, along with the number 3.. "^-^

  • It's like Alan and I are in sync..

  • fuck i don't see anything help me

  • I think monday is beige, tuesday is green, wednesday is red, thursday pink, friday black, saturday I can't really think of one, and sunday is blue.

  • monday is yellow for me

  • I see the piano chord as yellow. I don't know why

  • I wanted Alan to try that at the end and the sound not play..

  • "Most people" assign colours to days?? I've never done that, nor have I heard of anyone doing it before now. Am I weird?

  • @patrick112590 Not really. I don't know a lot of reasons why you'd tell anyone you assign colours to days.

  • @Anergyne I meant am I weird for not doing it.

I know I'm weird in certain ways, but I was just hoping that this isn't one of them.

  • The only two days I associate with a colour are Tuesday (dark blue) and Friday (dark red). I have no idea why, and I'm sure no one cares, haha.

  • @Maidenrugby The amount of thumbs up your comment has has made me interested in why you associate those colours with Tuesday and Friday. Why? =P

  • @Liolar43 Oh wow, didn't realise it had got so many thumbs up, haha! I really don't know why to be honest. I guess it's probably based on subconscious things from the past that kind of give those days a colour. But yeah, sorry, can't really answer you there. :P

  • wtf, i thought they were going to talk about synesthesia or some thing, I dont relate colours to weekdays

....after finishing video, i relize they do mention synesthesia.....

  • wtf, i thought they were going to talk about synesthesia or some thing, I dont relate colours to weekdays

  • I also said blue before he did. Not surprised.

  • How is Alan confused in this clip >___> Isn't the lady more confused.

  • I think I have a pimple in the top of the crack of my arse.

  • @Leowen2 And that totally makes sense in context

  • Monday - Blue

    Tuesday - Lime Green

    Wednesday - Green

    Thursday - Orange

    Friday - Red

    Saturday - Silver

    Sunday - Brown

  • Monday – a sort of hazy, murky, slightly purplish blue (?!)

    Tuesday – bright blue

    Wednesday – red

    Thursday – brown

    Friday – tanned orange

    Saturday – white

    Sunday – black

i also do it with months, years, names, letters, numbers and some words, plus the timbres of musical instruments. though when i tell people, they – understandably – think i'm talking shit!

  • @MrMezusku synaesthetics of the world unite - until we have to pick a colour for our banner, then we're stuffed.

  • Monday-Red

    saturday is golden yellow

    and sunday is yellow.

    That is all.

  • In his book "Moab is my Washpot" Stephen says that all bad things happen on a Tuesday, which makes me surprised that he would give it the colour yellow!

  • @atomicmrpelly All bad things do happen on a tuesday.

  • @paddymourinho So why yellow??

  • @atomicmrpelly almost everything in nature that is dangerous/poisonous is yellow.

  • @paddymourinho Like giraffes?

  • @atomicmrpelly lethal.

  • @paddymourinho Budgies?

  • i see saturday as pasta

  • In english it's blue, in dutch it's red...

  • i think like that monday is the darkest blue

  • I shat myself.

  • @TheGlobalPanacea congratz on achieving that

  • @AngelBiLove Cheers.

  • I'm seeing colours now,am I okay?....

  • did anyone her the first tone of that shity song baby when he press the button

  • I don't see colours I think I see a picture. Like a calender, and for school weeks and holiday weeks it looks different. I can't explain it really.

But if I was going to chose a colour for Monday, it would be red :)

  • i got a sort of yellowy red.

  • if you want to know more about synethesia read the book 'The name of this book is secret' all the way through.

  • light turquoise

  • I do associate days of the week and sounds -- and any word, really -- with colours, but synesthesia that Stephen mentions at the end is much stronger than that, and not common like he says. It's a rare condition, and not just a vague feeling of colour but something extremely vivid, as though it's before your eyes.

  • Tuesday Pink

    Wendesday Green

    Saturday Purple/Violet

  • I dont see them in colours, i see some sort of horizontal calendar of the days.

Sunday Saturday Friday Thursday Wednesday Tuesday Monday

Sunday Saturday Friday Thursday Wednesday Tuesday Monday

I see that in my head, but the entire text is like at a 45 degree angle to my top left and is pointing towards it. god im weird

    Monday - Pink

    Tuesday - Brown

    Wednesday - Orange

    Thursday - Grey

    Friday- Dark Blue

    Saturday- Light Blue

    Sunday- Bronze

  • To me: Mon-DarkBlue, Tue-Yellow, Wed-Green, Thur-Brown, Fri-Red, Sat-Blue, Sun-Purple.

  • friday is black..rebecca black.

  • i resent having to watch commercials before viewing BBC content, What do i pay my licence fee for?

(fully aware 'BBC Entertainment' as a separate commercial business) but still i've already paid for this content to be produced.

  • monday is dark red! you guys are all crazy

  • The only time I ever came close to this drugs were involved.

  • can this be explained by the fact that the parts in your brain that indentify sound, sight, smell, sound etc are connected in early stages, though the connections disappear when you get older (still being a foetus); can it be that the connections don't disappear entirely?

  • i want to see a color when i hear a sound, the best acid ever

  • Tuesday is light yellow to me, too!

  • I think of Monday as a blue too! :D

  • I believe there's also a song called 'Blue Monday'.

  • Monday, Monday, gotta get up on Monday. Everybody's looking forward to the Work Week, Work Week.

  • Light Turquiose

  • do they all have synaesthesia?

  • @susiefluffypuppies No, but I do.

  • HOLLY SHIT ALAN DAVIS PREDICTED REBECCA BLACK's FRIDAY?!

    Thursday - brown

    Friday - orange

    Saturday - red

    Sunday - yellow

    The chord was light blue.

Last night when I was trying to get off to sleep I suddenly smelt something (not sure what) and it presented in my head as a yellow triangle. It was a bit weird, I've never had smell synaesthesia before, and certainly never had shapes.

  • Monday - Red

    Tuesday - Greyish Dark Blue

    Wednesday - Yellow

    Thursday - Copper/Navy Blue

    Friday - Brown

    Saturday - Black

    Sunday - Yellow

    SYNAESTHESIA FTW.

  • @TopGear2007 exactly the same for me, bar saturday which is yellow.

  • When I heard the question, I thought Monday blue... for no reason. I wonder why people think of colors when they hear words. Tuesday yellow, Wednesday light blue or white, Thursday rusty brown, Friday Green, Saturday orange, Sunday purple.

  • I thought of Monday as blue as well

  • They go on to learn Rimsky-Korsakov had synesthesia, which, if true, means he must have been tripping balls while composing "Flight of the Bumblebee".

  • I was half expecting someone to quote The Cure :)

  • I taste colours if this is anything related. Electric blue is tuna and various shades of pink and orange are slightly different flavours of fruit salad. Subtle yellows and greens are sherbet. Red tastes of oranges but only pink red. Is this related? When I told people only a few months ago that I've had this for as long as I remember, they laughed. Oh and karki is like rain water in old mud (I know this taste from going on school trips).

  • Monday has always been a sort of scarlet for me. Disgusting color, scarlet. Same color as four.

I like the indigo-ish purple of nine better.

All music is some shade of light teal to me, even heavy metal (although that's streaked with charcoal grey), except for jazz which is olive green and woozy, and rap which is brown and fuzzy. What varies for me when I see music is the shapes and patterns. It's not synesthesia, though--it's in my mind (I see it kind-of overlaid on the world, not in it.)

  • @MajikkaniHand I have the same, red for monday and four!. Nine is yellow for me. And there are two different main types of synesthetes: Associators and projectors. Projectors see it in the world, and Associators see it in the mind sort of overlapped.

  • @LyraRaven Really? How interesting. I'll have to look into that. ^^ I'd never heard about the associative type before--is it caused by the same thing? (Do we even know?)

  • Monday- the most unpleasant shade of browny orange.

    Tuesday-forest green.

    Wednesday-Dark blue.

    Thursday-Teal.

    Friday-Pink.

    Saturday-Bright blue.

    Sunday-Golden.

Also, D major is the most lovely shade of light teal.

  • Synasthesia FTW

  • Monday: Orange.

    Tuesday: Blue.

    Wednesday: Purple.

    Thursday: Green.

    Friday: Yellow.

    Saturday: Pink.

    Sunday: Red.

  • I always imagine Wednesday as yellow.

  • I have Blueish for Monday, Purpley for Tuesday and Orangey for Thursday, Yellowish for Sunday, but then nothing for anything else!

  • I see numbers as colours:

    0 - White

    1 - Yellow

    2 - Blue

    3 - Green

    4 - Magenta

    5 - Orange

    and so on...

  • @rafflecupter I do the same.

    0 - Black, 1 - White, 2 - Red, 3 - Green, 4 - Deep Red, 5 - Orange, 6 - Dark Green, 7 - Yellow, 8 - Blue, 9 - Purple.

Longer numbers are coloured by the digits.

  • next thing they will be askind is" what does comedy smell like"?

  • @ubershyguy8 - It smells funny, of course

  • @losthor1zon ahaha nice :3

    I'm a sad man.

  • @Muglez14 Haha, me too!

  • @Muglez14 You're sad...and not a man :P

  • @Muglez14 did you say "woooooo o oo o o " after it

  • @Muglez14 really? i heard the first note of the chorus to "the game" by queen.

you just lost the game btw.

  • @Muglez14 -tuts- v.v -shakes head- you oh so very very dissapointing failure of humanity.

  • @Muglez14 you actually know what it sounds like. you have betrayed man

  • @Muglez14 It is one of the chords that most music now uses. Go here for a song that plays on it: watch?v=5pidokakU4I

  • What's everyone else getting off the chord? I'm hearing yellow, goldish yellow.

  • @KillAllHumans52 Yeah, me to. It sounds yellow.

  • Do Americans have shows like this?

  • @Letspreach I think some try, but then it gets preachy and political, and never stays on track long enough without everyone starting in on each other.

  • @Letspreach why do you care?

  • @TrollReborn Because no one else does. If I know answers, I know stuff. If I think of a question, I ask it. Peace out, brother.

  • @Letspreach Im not your fucking brother hippy scum.

  • @TrollReborn At least you got one thing right. PS: I'm not a hippy...

  • friday would be rebeca black's favourate colour

    Monday - Red

    Tuesday - Orange

    Wednesday - Peach

    Thursday - Dark green

    Friday - Blue

    Saturday - Yellow

    Sunday - Dark orange

  • I associate letters of the alphabet with specific colors (A is blue, B is red, C is yellow, etc.). I don't know why, but I recall doing this as early as second grade. And I guess I do that with days of the week as well. But not with chords of music so much. Maybe with entire songs or compositions.

  • A - Red

    B - Blue/Greenish

    C - Yellow

    D - Light Blue

    E - Grey/Black

    F - Purple

    G - Brown

  • blue??? mondays so green it hurts! TUESday is blue, pah!

  • Breakfast of Champions, or Goodbye Blue Monday - Kurt Vonnegut. That's why I personally think of Monday as blue.

  • I wish I had synesthesia :(

  • 0:04 OMG Is that Mycroft from Sherlock?

  • @weirdlightsaber44 yes it is! at least i think it is...

  • Thursday is orange for me

  • Monday - Yellow

    Tuesday - Orange

    Wednesday - Dark Green

    Thursday - Dark Blue

    Friday - Dark Orange

  • Monday - Blue

    Tuesday - Green

    Wednesday - Purple

    Thursday - Brown

    Friday - Red

    Saturday - Yellow

    Sunday - Orange

  • Monday- blue

    Tuesday- yellow (the most distinct)

    Wednesday- Red

    Thursday- Red (slightly more orange)

    Friday- black

    Saturday- white

    Sunday- grey

  • I really wanted Alan to try the piano chord mime -and for nothing to happen.

  • MONDAY IS YELLOW!

  • @kyedhenfemale i agree. a very dull yellow im my view

  • Actually, there's a correct astrological association with the colors. I originally thought he was asking the question based on that and so I shouted out: Silver! But I prefer this way, anyway.

    To me....

Monday: Orange, like orange peels (haha)

    Tuesday: Green, like ivy

    Wednesday: Blue, like Forget-me-nots

    Thursday: Red, like bricks

Friday: Dark Purple, like... you know, dark purple.

    Saturday: Yellow, like daffodils

Sunday: White, cuz... you know, it's Sunday x)

  • haha, mamaws and papaws. never heard it like that before. gotta love british accents

  • I have no colour association with anything... Blegh. I'm a dull person :(

  • Blue Monday by New Order

Is that why we think of Monday as blue?

  • Linda Smith <3

  • Monday: Blue

    Tuesday: Red

    Wednesday: Green

    Thursday: Brown

    Friday: Darker Red

    Saturday: Black

    Sunday: White

  • monday is very yellow...it can be shiny monday or a ugly vomit coulor yellow...hum...bah.

  • My monday is red, tuesday yellow, wednesday blue, thursday green, friday blue, saturday red and sunday pink

  • I'm curious, what colour would you lovely Youtube viewers associate with the piano sound played towards the end? I would say yellow personally.

  • monday is blue because blue is the colour people asociate with depression lol

  • I see tuesday as a very vibrant yellow. that seems to be quite popluar

  • I have sythesia too. Yes. I am part of the elite group

  • When I was much younger I remembered the days by the colour because I could never remember the order of the names. I remember Wednesday was yellow and Thursday was red (those two seem popular for some reason?) and Monday was Brown. I can't remember any of the others though. I used to get it with music too, but again I just sort of 'lost' it around age 6-8. I never had it with numbers like some people do though.

    Strange stuff.
