I just cant see how a friendly fire or the Afghan guerillas would have caused the death of Pat Tilman. 1. He had 3 shots in the head. No fckn way that this was guerillas work. 2. no way that these gunshot wounds could be accidentally shot by friendly fire..3. No way a sniper could shoot so fast 3 shots with that accuuracy( was a sniper in the French Foreign Legion) . It had to be a point blank shot.. I commend Tillman for his service, he was obviously a very honorable and respectable person.
But I found this documentary hateful and self-important. The military is castigated as a brainless ego factory, the Republican Party unanimously using Tillman as a tool in their chess match. It's a completely B-movie interpretation, and so simplistically crass I found it sick. I found myself learning much about people affiliated with Tillman and their interpretations/political views, less about Tillman.
@tubub You should really read the book "Where men win glory" by Jon Krakauer. I have ot seen this movie, but in the book it goes very in depth into the investigation, including how the military deliberatley lied and withheld information. they even refused to give Pat's uniform/armor, covered U.S. bullet marks, over to the autopsy dotor. a soldier later said he was ordered to burn pat's clothing, and another soldier had to later even burn his ammo pack. (probably covered with bullet makrs, too)

But I found this documentary hateful and self-important. The military is castigated as a brainless ego factory, the Republican Party unanimously using Tillman as a tool in their chess match. It's a completely B-movie interpretation, and so simplistically crass I found it sick. I found myself learning much about people affiliated with Tillman and their interpretations/political views, less about Tillman.

@tubub You should really read the book "Where men win glory" by Jon Krakauer. I have ot seen this movie, but in the book it goes very in depth into the investigation, including how the military deliberatley lied and withheld information. they even refused to give Pat's uniform/armor, covered U.S. bullet marks, over to the autopsy dotor. a soldier later said he was ordered to burn pat's clothing, and another soldier had to later even burn his ammo pack. (probably covered with bullet makrs, too)

How else do you interpret a cover-up of this magnitude? They just 'forgot' to tell his family how he really died, and proceeded to treat him like every other 20 year old kid murdered in that clusterfuck.

You have a lot of confrontational language and profanity but you're not saying much. There's nothing illegal about Afghanistan, which is where Tillman was killed.
I haven't seen empirical evidence that this was murder. People don't like to think someone of such stature was killed by friendly fire, and it's likely those in the administration didn't know either. So they used him as a PR piece. Definitely not the best thing to do imo, but also by no means murder.

@tubub My mistake, Iraq was illegal, and yes he was killed in Afghanistan. I use murder in the sense that someone shot him. I'm not saying they knew who they were shooting at, but they tried to kill the target and succeeded.
What makes me sick is how they burned his uniform, body armor and his journal, then told his family he was killed by enemy fire - is that typical military practice? You're a fool to think there was no cover up. Nobody would burn his stuff without being ordered to.

A fragmentation grenade was put under the bunk with one end of a string attached to the pin, the other end tied to the hootch door. Walk in, lay down, BOOM !!! Someone had it out for me. This lifer put me on a truck and shipped my ass to an area he knew was about to be hit. The messenger finally found me, was transferred back to base camp. Two days later the place was overrun by the enemy.

I recently saw the documentary Programming the Nation? and it struck me in a similar way that The Tilman Story had. McChrystal even put a memo out advising the higher ups that it was a friendly fire incident. The government did try to cover it up, but it was not murder like you believe.
