@TheKeeblerelff i know what you mean! when i say my favourite band is DMB, noone knows :( makes me a little sad i have noone to bond with over their music...except for you guys on youtube!
@debmag17 hahaha yea! i mean. i guess u just have to have a certain appreciation for good music to understand dave matthews. he really is the best. and this song is fantastic. people our age just dont know any better haha
@jasonrest i know we are all entitled to our own opinions. . . but you are insane. while yes dave matthews band are amazing musicians alanis just added more to that. she did not in any way ruin this song.
@amandanicole275 i can assure you I'm quite sane and so are you if you're capable of appreciating DMB. It just seems that her contribution on this particular track was "theatrical" and "overdramatic". with the heavy breathing etc. didnt mean to offend.
Like many of DMBs lyrically complex songs, this one is based on the notion of Jesus Christ wrestling with the thoughts of being God's son and how he doesn't necessarily believe with what the guy above thinks.
I know it's not part of the song, but what were you thinking when you cut out the Last Stop reprise, one of the best parts of the album? Either cut it at the end of Spoon or keep the whole thing together!
when of his best songs i love how he has such variation between his fast and poweful songs yet he can gro straight to his soft beatifual songs its amazing
GREAT SONG......from a long time DMB fan...it's great to hear the older tunes. This was done in 1997 with Alanis and Bela Fleck on the banjo.....thanks for sharing
@tgmojo Yeah, I noticed Alanis' distinctive vocals-- wonderful. but not till now did I pick up on the banjo- and there's no question it would be Bela Fleck, the master of the banjo! Great great great song.
Such an extremely beautiful song. This band is the greatest that has ever existed. I love the Last stop outro that's hidden after the real song. And I absolutely love the outro to the song. AMAZING!
Really, I didn't know she wrote this. I do know they came to share the same producer, Glen Ballard, and probably that's where they hooked up. There are later videos she did, inviting Boyd Tinsley to perform with her on violin on stage. About 3 minutes into the song, I hear banjo, I think. Would that be Bela Fleck of the Flecktones?
Nope, you're wrong. This song was written by Dave. Alanis is just a guest that does her beautiful vocals that attracted me to DMB for the first time about 9 years ago. Since then this song has remained my favorite.
