  • Can you import drawings into the program to make it look unique?

  • @fathergreen This feature is coming officially in an update. However users have found an easy way to hack their own drawings in, you can find instructions on our forum: twolivesleft *dot* com *slash* Codea *slash* Talk

  • The music is "Porch Swing Days" by Kevin MacLeod.

  • free please :3

  • Must be awesome to INSTANTLY make an app like Super Mario with this app, hmm i might try it out. I will start a revolution with my own instant apps.

  • Great learning tool.

  • @thecomputerdudes It uses the programming language Lua

  • Man, I wish I knew how to code ;(

  • come forward and join hand with charity organizations

International Conference on Community Based Empowerment of Vulnerable Children

  • Dare I say it, but an Android version would be great. Since there's no restriction on downloading and sharing generated content.

  • i can see you bought extra keyboard.

  • what programming language does it use?

  • @thecomputerdudes

looks similar to that open source one 'processing' i think it was called..

  • @thecomputerdudes It's built on Lua!

  • Did I just see adobe flash objects in the browser? When did this happen?

  • i made an rpg like gtf4 HELL YEAH it costs 15 dollars... nah jk

id pass out from trying to figure this thing out

  • wow look how fast it took to make doodle jump 0:55

  • The app is $8.50

  • cool, i want to help become a programmer myself.

  • Did anyone else think it would change EVERY app into a epic first-person shooter? Yeah, thought so.

  • This doesn't turn my Ipad into Call of Duty -.-

  • cool

  • nice song in the background ¡yeah

  • I like how he uses an external keyboard to type - typing code on the iPad's virtual keyboard would most certainly suck ;)

  • @adamq123 all the example projects except for one were developed using the on-screen keyboard.

  • yo dawg, i heard you like developing ipad apps, so we developed an ipad app which you can use to develop ipad apps on your ipad

  • Programing and magic getting closer :)

  • Great stuff. Makes me wish I had an ipad (only have an ipod). Good luck with this. Seems like a great way to prototype and even make fun little games that we can share ( handing over the ipad for someone to play is also sharing) with friends.

  • The code can't be shared because in the App Store terms it says any code created using any application from it can't be shared. You're welcome! : )

  • i shit bricks

  • My son would love this... Just need an iPad.

  • hello, we are professional virus developers, can you write viruses / malware with that app? can the code be compiled and massivly shared?

  • Just bought. YOU CAN NOT EXPORT OR SHARE A SINGLE LINE OF CODE.

It's useless now. Do you agree?

  • @overnoise Copy + Paste for now

  • @TwoLivesLeftGames ok but to where, to compile it? Things like Corona could work?

  • @overnoise You would need to implement the Codify libraries in your app – graphics mainly. We plan to release these as open source when we have cleaned them up, so people can link against them when compiling native code to run their projects.

  • @overnoise I've been told Macroplant's free iExplorer application gets your projects into and out of Codify without jailbreaking your iPad

  • @overnoise You could just copy the code!

  • Can you deploy your app to the app store when you're done?

  • this is genius!!!!!

  • I recognize the music in this video... but I can't remember what site I got it from or what it was called. I believe it was a "free to use" piece. Now it's gonna bug me all night.

  • @Jasoco It's by Kevin MacLeod - he is an amazing musician. I'm going to add this information to the video description as well.

  • congratulation, seriously this thing is awesome

  • Looks awesome, good work.

  • Holy Shit

  • I'll pay $50 if it scripted PERL.

  • Holy shit, this is fucking amazing.

  • As a student currently finishing a degree in computer engineering I gotta say that this looks absolutely amazing! I hope in the near future it will allow to export the code... kudos to the creators, amazing job, keep up the good work! ;)

  • Interesting.

  • Congratulations on a very cool idea

  • didnt think it was possible.. great!

but how about the iphone? also supported?

  • @TheInfiniteinfinity Thanks for the feedback. No iPhone support at the moment - it would be a big challenge to design! But it's an interesting thought.

  • I love the idea, but in the video I hear keyboard sounds?

  • @MrSloooowpoke good observation. I used a bluetooth keyboard for this video so my hands wouldn't get in the way. I also purposely increased the volume of the key sounds because I liked the effect.

I personally use Codify most with the on-screen keyboard in portrait or landscape mode. However it fully supports bluetooth keyboards as well.

  • @TwoLivesLeftGames Ah, I didn't know that was even possible with an iPad. xD

  • Looking forward to it. It looks very similar to Actionscript in Adobe Flash.

  • Looks incredible!

  • Sweet so instead of having a menu you need to just type it then touch it! That's so much easier than just having a menu button to push and it does it for you! :-)

  • It's awesome

  • @TwoLivesLeftGames What language is this in? Obj-C?

  • @NotMyCabbages The App itself is written in Objective-C. However Codify runs Lua code that you write. Lua is a very accessible and light-weight scripting language.

  • @TwoLivesLeftGames pity about all the 'self.'s though. They bug me. You should look into using Mono so you could support many languages. 'Boo' is an excellent clean language for beginners and it has C# etc. I think there's a lua layer too.

  • @NotMyCabbages NO. It's based on Lua.

  • Is Apple going to allow this? I thought their policy is not to have any native apps to execute or interpret code, with the exception of javascript through MobileSafari.

There are a couple of apps like Scratch that didn't make in the AppStore.

  • @jeznaver Apple has approved it and it will be released on Wednesday October 26. Their policy was changed to allow apps that execute or interpret code, as long as they do not download code.

  • @TwoLivesLeftGames Thats good news! Looking forward to this.

  • There are some very cool ideas in there. Well done.

  • Will this be in the App Store? Awesome app!

  • @proudy97 Thanks! it will be in the App Store on Wednesday (Oct 26).
