Just watched this episode for the first time today. Christopher Nolan was / has been attached to a "Prisoner" remake for a long time. Watching this, I can at least see an influence this particular episode had on "Inception". Or maybe it's just a coincidence. But probably not.
@Zitubos It's a stock library track, not made specifically for The Prisoner, entitled "Bienvenue Mister Jones / Welcome Mr Jones", by Jack Arel and Pierre Dutour. Composed and recorded for any TV programme that paid to use it - though as far as I know this was the only one that did. It's so groovy I can't imagine why it wasn't used more often.
To finish what I was saying, Quick! Turn everything off! Everything off, off, off!" Well, they didn't. That's what I thought was so funny about it! You can think that it makes sense to do something like what they did, but maybe it's just me! I don't know!
In a way, I saw a little bit of humor in this scene and I dont mean the part where Engadine says, "It's so wild, darling! It will end in tears!" and Number Six says, "All the best parties do!" I mean the part right after that where Number Six says, "This is a dreamy party!" What's so funny about it, to me, was that it didn't dawn on Number Two and Number Fourteen that maybe Number Six was on to them. When Number Six says that little line, at least they could've went, "Oh my God, he's on to us!

Curiously enough, there is a very similar scene in Orson Welles' "Confidential Report" (aka Mr Arkadin). No wonder McGoohan was called the british Orson Wells.
Great Video! My favorite part of the whole series. Except maybe the time #6 destroys the general, and then beats up 2 guys with a stick. All while one of his arm is in a cast.
Hate to ask, but if you could give me any information on how you uploaded this in high quality(codec, format, supersecret flag), that would be helpful.
"This is a dreamy party."
I love that line since it foreshadows what Number 6 already knows. He is hip to their game.

The precursors to MILF and Cougars are here. Making English women some of the hottest on the planet, for the time.

The song in this scene, is it an actual song, or was it just composed for the scene?

It was made for the scene. You can find it The Prisoner OST.

This is my favorite clip. For some reason, I hear him say: "TEAR IT UP--IT'S A FREE ME PARTY". Does anyone else hear him say "FREE ME" not "DREAMY"?

Actually I'm pretty sure what he says is as shown on the screen "Terrible? It's dreamy. This is a dreamy party!"
