I, myself, don't have an HVX. However I know that you'd have to shoot at a frame rate slower than 24 fps progressive ( for example, let's say 2 fps, that's the slowest frame rate) and speed the footage up to 24 fps in your editing program.
You do not have to shoot at 2fps and speed up the footage. The HVX has an option called INTERVAL REC which lets you perform time-lapse photography. This mode will allow you to record anywhere from between 1 frame to 10 frames PER MINUTE! not second. The HVX is really a dope camera! You're referring to only the fast motion or slow motion modes. If you own the HVX, you can get THE HVX BOOK by Barry W. Green for free, check out Panasonic's website for details.
Thanks for the clarification. As I said I don't own the HVX (I have a DVX100b) but that may change in the future. I'm trying to decide between the HVX200 and the EX1.
At a fraction of the Cost of Sony HDCAM It is worth it. Just make sure your NLE can directly import the files. Note to all: Media 100 (Though a great NLE for fast tight deadlines) cannot import file from the HVX-200 or any P2 Camera.
Absolutely NOT true. Wasn't even true 6 months ago when you wrote this. As of v11.5, Media 100 absolutely CAN import P2 files and I've got an HVX200 hooked up to mine right now.
You just need to have the DVCPROHDcodec.component installed and you need the Panasonic driver installed so the P2 media will mount on the desktop.
We are working to learn how to do timelapse when filming clouds...we have not have any luck. Do you think you can teach us how this technique is done?
this looks great! I've just ordered my own HVX200, but I'm unsure about the p2 cards. they're so expensive for the trouble and the shooting time. what brand of recordable drive did you get? is it mountable? price? 100g drive is what, 4 hours or so?
I've been looking to purchase a HVX200 myself, but I think im gonna wait for the next generation to come out first. Maybe then ill be able to afford it.
The camera's issued to me. Maybe by the time you feel comfortable enuf to purchase, hopefully there will be competitive models too! We just got a bunch of new gear, so with a 100GB recordable drive, I'll be shooting tons more footage soon and hope to post here.
NICE one! is this function only available when using p2 card? or does it work with tape as well?
thanks

Did you have a 35mm adapter on the body for this, or was it shot stock using P2 cards?
