Trombones can too tongue as cleanly as baritone players. I teach both, and it's far more difficult to get the young baritone players away from slurred tonguing to staccato than it is the trombonists, who have the most trouble with legato, due to the beginning school books telling the trombone players NOT to slur. Frankly, unless kids take lessons, they seldom become decent players, let alone musicians.

Western Carolina's Pride of the Mountains has 35 trombones I think for this year.... they also have 350 total members :D
