Nier looks like a troglodyte, but I'm cool with that cuz he looks like a badass :D. It's a nice break from every other JRPG where the male hero has a baby face and the bangs+spikes hairstyle. For what it's worth, Nier looks a whole lot better than my orc on Skyrim...

REAL Nier wasn't ugly, he was a fucking human being dudes. you guys should probably look at yourselves and realize, woah, you are kind of ugly and if you became old, grizzled and scarred from a hard life you too would look like REAL Nier. Look at any old laborer, warrior, boxer, they look like REAL Nier.

I like the idea of having a father figure, but I just wish they hadn't made the character so damn ugly. Just because he's a father, doesn't mean he has to look like a big and burly mini-Hulk. But then, I'm not a fan of overly-muscled characters period. It's not that I want effeminate teenaged characters, just that I prefer the slimmer, lankier look they used for Bro Nier. If only they could have combined the two: slim, lanky father figure with a bit of muscle. Would have worked perfectly!

that is the main character for nier replicant, the sorta japanese alter ego to US or EU Nier.

see, in japan, they had Nier Gestalt-the one you know with the grey haired old dad as the main guy(which is what the rest of the world got)

and they also got Nier Replicant which is basically exactly the same thing but with this pansy pretty boy as a character.

I'm not hating on Bro Nier.

It's kind of difficult to explain - to realise how nice and refreshing it is to have a grizzled old father figure with emotion and feeling rather than the stereotypical japanese rpg protagonist - effeminate, teenaged and a little bit whiny.

I just don't particularly like Bro Nier because he's so typical of a japanese rpg, whereas Father Nier takes things in a fresher, and in my opinion better, direction.

I'm sure Bro Nier still has character too.

When I first played the game, I thought "God what a beautiful song!". Today, I start grinding teeth every time I need to cross the Northern Plains, forcing myself not to sing along with this damned song XD The game probably makes you hear this more than a hundred times in a single playthrough. Haha (;
