  • @SundayVideoGames Anytime and good luck :)

  • start off as a runner and just make cups of tea and shit so all that with lots of persistence ... that'll be your best bet

  • The information is so dated. Guess, industry has changed a lot. Today they want you to be trained yesterday, rather than learning on the job. (even retail wants u to be trained yesterday)

  • I'm an artist :D

  • Just a bunch of suckups. SUCK UP punks.

  • A total jackoff video. Fuck you clowns.

  • sweet jesus, getting a job as a developer right after high school? how lucky can you be?

  • that was in 1995, its 2012 now!! that explains..hahah!!

  • hmm so what are the academic requirements for this?

  • If anyone wants to give making their own game a try, I make tutorials on making 3D games in a free program called unity3d for both pc and mac. Indie/hobbyist game design is a great place to start.

  • @ETeeskiTutorials wow i wanna see your tutorials! im really interested in this stuff. im only 16 tough...

  • Well being computer techinian is way better because u can create computers and online games ( if avaible for developes for online ) and I'm going to make BaseWars: Multiplayer online. It gain more money and being that job is pretty long on it's graphics and actions :/

  • lol everquest

  • learned nofthing

  • GO EVERQuest im lvl 35 now ! woot woot

  • thanks to the internet nowadays, if you are committed just get a group of friends like the top rated comment says, and make your own game.

Then promote it, make a website, etc etc etc and basically run it like a business. If you have a good idea and it's fun and not boring, it can be successful.

  • im good at computer and english...

but not good in math :(

i would do my best when im at the course tho.. suggestions?

  • @thetrialshot I don't think math has anything to do with programming,You need to learn programming and coding and complicated shit

  • @Keiykou Programming games is 50% math 50% logic.

You say programming/coding (its the same thing) ... yea you know that "complicated shit" you're talking about?

Yea, you guessed it... that's the Math.

  • To design games, like drawing them out and making them come to life in the art way, what GCSE's would i need to take?

  • @JayyzillaProductions I'm good at science art English and ICT, but not so good at maths.

  • @JayyzillaProductions Game Art and Design program at AI or VFS.... That's what i'm in. Warning, you will have to take two to three courses of scripting but not programming.

  • @ItalianBandit Ok, what is scripting is it like the code for the game?

  • @JayyzillaProductions Yes, but not as hard core as programming.

  • @JayyzillaProductions a script is alot of coding out into one word or phrase.

  • This makes me want to play everquest now

  • Thumbs up for the homo that names his character Migzor

  • What about music like a soundtrack or writting the scirpt for the stories in games? I want to etiher work with music or the story

  • I have a question, do I have to be good at maths?

  • @danerogil yes!!!! :D if you are in technical section then yes if in designing then NO

  • @evilatsnipe what if you just wanna make video games?

  • @danerogil in nutshell you need maths and physics both :)

  • @evilatsnipe How good at maths and physics? :/

  • @danerogil games use a lot of maths and physics everything in game, every game object works on these fundamentals so your fundamentals must be strong you must know how to implement your maths and physics skils

  • @evilatsnipe so... like 2+2! right? the answer is 7 right...?

  • @danerogil yes you are pretty close actually its 8 :D

  • @evilatsnipe OMG! I'M GONNA BE THE BEST VIDEO GAME DESIGNER EVAR!!1!1!!!!!one!@11!!!

  • Computer Science degree and creating games/drawing/designing/learning software as a hobby and interning will get you somewhere

  • if i become a game tester, and make a mistake at sending something wrong to my lead? will i get fired?

  • @xxxCRAZYLOVExxx I think you wont get fired but i think they will pay you a little less depending on how big the mistake

  • @mscslayer man u anwsered so late, i'm way past that

  • okay so i have to be at the right place at the right time......if someone can tell me the right place to be at and the the right time thtd be great!

  • @TheWolverineiscool Burger King is hiring....

  • man i just wnna get my stories outof my head but whenever i try and explain it to some one its like trying to explain a complex image because well that's what it is in my head. so i believe if it they were turned into games then that way people could not only understand me for once but if made like games such as fallout and fable could add their own opinions to my ideas and even review blog and come up with what they thought should have happened... its a bit farfetched but it's my ultimate dream

  • i want to work in game industry,i know 3ds max perfect!

  • Honestly here's my advice to get into the industry. ( I'm in the art field)

    1) Choose a specific development role to pursue. For example art or engineering or designer. You can also be both as well, a tech artist, we always need these people because they build tools for artists with the game engine specs.

    2) For animation, work on your skills day and night and build a 3 minute demo

reel, educate your self with different software packages. Maya, Max, Motion Builder.

    3) Play Games!

  • I start computer animation in January would thes be helpful in getting me a job in the gaming industry

  • @ejohnsonff Hey if you questions about animation in games you can ask me, i've been doing it for over 6 years. What software are you going to learn in these classes? Maybe i can help. A lot of times schools waste your time training you on outdated animation packages don't waste your money.

  • @featheredmusic I don't know what software they will be teaching me but latter this week I will be meeting with someone at the school,I will ask then. Will the computer animation classes be all I need? What other skills should I learn? Thanks for your response every bit of information is a step towards achieving my dream Job.

  • @featheredmusic

So do Maya and Max dominate as most used software for artists in the game companies? I had classes that taught usign Softimage, but haven't seen many companies that use that.

  • @WizardReel Yeah absolutely, majority use maya and max, xsi is fantastic but most dev studios

don't use it, unless u work for valve :)

  • @featheredmusic

    Thanks for info.

  • That guy was so amusing xD

    Made my day.

  • The Guy looks like Jacob Stegelmand

  • even though the game industry is a fierce one its becoming easier to publish your own games and with everything available for download it becomes easier to make a hit but you still have to put the effort in :)

  • Anyone interested in quality soundscenes for your games inbox me. i do all genres at great prices :)

  • Should of used Rockstar Games..It would be way more intresting to hear from.

  • Ignore every single advice in the video: nepotism rules the industry. It's who you know.

  • if no one is gonna hire you get a team and make your own any excuses you have just shows you your not that committed. take for instance the people who made guild wars 1 and two they started from scratch with almost no ones help they got a team and now doing really good work. dont let nothing stop you from something your REALLY passionate about. i would do whatever it takes to get what i want. let the same apply to you. Good luck my friends.

  • @cratel2death WELL SAID! AMEN! lol

  • @Owliganka Thank you :)

  • @cratel2death great speech buddy!! thnx 4 that inspiration :)

  • @lonesharkadriano Anytime friend.

  • @cratel2death

Thanks for the good motivation :)

  • @cratel2death

"i would do whatever it takes to get what i want."

    So what's the problem? :P

  • @cratel2death and thats what should've been in the video!..

  • @cratel2death that was realy encouraging thanks for the idea if cant get a job when I go for it

  • Comment removed

  • @cutieprincess161 Not with that grammar and spelling you won't.

  • @cutieprincess161 :lol, only looking at your commentary already ensures myself you're not going to be a GameDev, the most important fact in this industry is continuous improving of your skillset, and the motivation you're having, that your modeling is already perfect, shows you're definately NOT made for this, even if a model seems perfect (and i preeeeettty much doubt that you can model perfect with the age of 12), there's always some kind of possible improvement :)

  • @cutieprincess161 lmao thats like the easiest thing u could do i did that when i was 13 o.o

  • looking for a game programming job now.. got bachelors, couple of great indie game projects, prof programming exp outside of games... and no luck! Let me tell you - its not NEARLY as easy as they tell you here. I've submitted over 100 applications. The competition is INSANE, 200+ applicants/opening. Maybe it was ok 10yrs ago when these guys were hiring, but they have no clue how bad it is now. Passion for games.. what a joke...

  • They should of interviewed Bungie instead of these developers

  • lol 2008 graphics guys. calm down.

  • 1:21 thats what she said

  • hire me but i dont know anything hahahahahaha

  • I have a dilema. I am not sure if I should get into the vdeo game industry or architecture industry (both of whcih I have an interst for). I have a huge passion for video games (glued to TV for E3 coverage? Yes.), but I get very good grades in school and people tell me that I should do something else, with more profit (my alternative is architecture), but in the end I dont really know what to do...i would love being an architect too but they dont even make that much money...ugh.

  • @alexpro00red3 screw what people says do what YOU want not what they want for you. They will see how dumb they are once you succeed ..:)

  • @alexpro00red3 If you truly love games then you should do that, you don't want to end up being stuck with a job you don't like and end up miserable.

  • @alexpro00red3 I think the best way to think about your dilemma is ask your self a question. How would you rather spend your time (lets say 50 hours a week ) developing the next triple a title on the future generation console or work on architecture. I work in the game industry and i have to tell you that it's a lot of fun but there's ALOT of overtime you'll be putting in. Whatever field you choose decide where would your rather spend your time in. Ask me if u have more questions about games.

  • LOL, how to get a job in the games industry? : Just say tell them that you're prepared to be slaved for shit salary and work overhours for free... job is yours... (actually 95% of naive romantics work like that most of their career time in the games industry)...

  • PLZ TELL ME! I am good for game right?? /watch?v=IADJ6-Z4ezw&feature=related

  • @imlatinoguy Are you trying to be an animator or 3d generalist?

  • Im a talented 2d/3d artist looking at getting into the gaming industry. I am willing to work for free to build my art folio. contact me know if any other talented people are interested or visit my website: davenbettridgedotcom

  • @davenbettridge I checked out your site, what kind of role are you looking for in the game development?

Concept artist? 3D Character Artist? I can point you in the right direction.

  • i'd like to be the one that draws the stuff , and maybe make the movements and stuff like that so what shoul i follow , plz plz plz some one tell me

  • @guinasaw make movements and stuff = programmer, draws stuff (characters, enviroment i think you mean? = 3d modeller)

  • @callepro Yes! that's what i wanna do ( the drawing part) but how , what do i have to follow???

  • @guinasaw Learn 3ds Max, its the most used program for 3D modelling and animation, im also learning it as we speak.

  • @callepro 3ds Max? Call of Duty models are created with Maya, many games use Maya instead of 3Dsmax...

  • what shoul i follow . arts or informatic engineering?

  • how do u get QA

  • @MADagain321 Are you ready to play the same game over and over again for 1.5-2 years? Are you an avid gamer?

Then this is the job for you.

  • Check out EasyFreeCashFromHome.webnode.com

  • The best way to get that kinda job is to say just "I can make violent and pornographic game that everyone would like"

  • Everybody knows that no one knows anything. Lost souls, all of us.

  • She says "If you can't design giant robots right away" during an everquest video?

  • Seems like Jesse Pinkman finally got out of meth business (see 1:29)

  • what the hack is a QA

  • @DbzNaruto1527

Quality Assurance, is done throughout the development process. Major QA is done during the polish phase.

  • The easiest way to get into the industry (at least in my experience) is through QA.

  • what is the job in the games industry where you design the games like designing art and plot in the game

  • I had a 5 minute ad, but it was FF so I was ok.

  • shit game!

  • Nice vid. But honestly if you want to make money online, there's a real way to do it and it is one of the most popular websites for making money in the WORLD! In fact, they were named 38th in the top 100, of the fastest growing corporations in the world. Now you're probably thinking this is a scam, correct? I %100 guarantee it's not. You can make $25,000 month without having to sell or promote any products. Visit this website for more information--- MakeCashForLife . ws

  • Waiting for the vid to load? Go to full screen pause at 0:00 and press up and right arrow keys. Enjoy ur game of snake

  • @boblkl I thought you were just joking-AWESOME!!!!

  • So really all I need to do is read more Magic Fluff books, watch a few programming tutorials, and buy as many good luck charms as I possibly can and hang them off my body like a Christmas tree.

    Thanks video Jug! I'm a Shoe-in now!

  • LOL worst developer to choose

  • @featheredmusic and your list would include oh mighty one?

  • @BadActingWYIM Turbine, THQ Kaos, Dice

  • @BadActingWYIM not trying to boast, but come on hahaha this is just funny

  • @featheredmusic what? im planning on persuing this. care to tell me why please? so i can know

  • Vancouvering, lol

  • If you really want to get a job I think Free Job Helper .com is the be website out there. Check it out!!

  • haha video JUGG

  • i have a god given talent to make 3d cgi videos , i just need a job

  • @abadkitty808 then build a portfolio, stay away for ak-47s and cathedrals every one has those in there portfolio. If you're really good you can get a job, just show them what you can do. also Learn both 3ds max and Maya because usually the company will only have one or the other and you are expected to know both. Good luck, I'm off to finish my modeling midterm. Oh and be ready to work 20 hour days on a regular basis.

  • wtf is everquest

  • @PaintedLadder

a dungeons-and-dragons like game. princess and knights

  • @PaintedLadder get owned fucking newb...

u don't even deserve to be looking at this web page...

that's like asking... "why do you put catchup on french fries" or... "why do guys like boobies"...

that is just like the dumbest thing I've ever heard... i'm actually more stupid now for having read you comment... like... wtf

  • @Flyboy711672005 no, i'm sure that youve already reached the stupidity limit far before you even trolled my comment, along with the loser and ignorance limits. and my comment isnt actually in any way affiliated with asking "why do you put ketchup on french fries". And if you want to hear the dumbest thing anybody can ever hear, then go ask some 10 yr old white girl why shes in love with justin bieber

  • @PaintedLadder

one of the first MMO games. paved the way for World of Warcraft

  • god i'd love to be a video game tester/quality assurance guy...

it's work but at least good work

  • I really want a job. I made a webcam blog about it..

  • Meh I say F**** this video I want Hideo Kojima to make a video of how to become a game designer!!!!!

  • Hi!I am 13 yrs old frm SIngapore.wat is the requirments to be game designer

  • @narrendran5 Really just need talent in game design software. You also need to know how to draw good and how to write really good. But learning a game design software is what you want to do to get into the buisness if you want to be a game designer. And if you want to be a concept artist or anything in art your going to need to be an outstanding artist and know how to animate characters and how to use art software.

  • @futureanimatior o,o holy shit i cant really draw well and nt tat creative. but i can help to do storys like sugularity games and Cod Games. Bcus i love to read abt war and Cold war

  • @narrendran5 Well no fear i'm sure you could still get a job I mean you said your only 13 and still got lots of time to develope your skills so it's never too late to try to draw or something else. All I can say is good luck and hope that you get your dreams.

  • @futureanimatior Well learning C++ other lanugese is a must or plus?

  • @narrendran5 Has nothing to do with C+ other languages as a requirement. Besides it doesen't even have that listed for game designers because it only has that listed for programmers not game designers.

  • @futureanimatior so if i wanna be game tester so any requirements

  • @narrendran5 Just have to be finished with high school and have to move to where the studio is. If you do very well in testing they could promote you into a higher field such as a designer or artist or writer.

  • @narrendran5 get 18 years old!

  • @githanjana thx

  • lol get lucky :D

  • Fuck all this noise. This is Dec 2010. You grab up a iOS SDK and use your brain to make something cool. Once you achieve success, you hire people to do your bidding and eventually sell your company to Activision or EA and retire.

  • I wanna beeeeee!!!

  • in india theres a college called ICAT..which teaches only gaming and animation and related to that..theres a course for each...and they have teachers from britian..(University of wales) and i wanna go to that college and take game development..so do i have a chance of getting a job in US ?

  • @rambo9792 no

  • @andrademeza what do you mean no ? tell me how ?

  • @rambo9792 just no. you just dont. lol im just playing...just go for it c what happens...i myself hope to do sum video game script writing...maybe ill go to one of those vd games while in the army...see you at rockstar or ea games...haha..

  • @andrademeza lol yea i knew you were messin with me...but in india...this college costs 600,000 indian rupees for the whole semester in game programming..in dollars that would be like $16,000...that wont be too much then

  • @rambo9792 hahaha yeah thats not too bad....research the school tho....see how accepted it is to the industry and stuff like that you know....but most of all just go for it. dont hold back.

  • @andrademeza its not a school..its a seperate college for gaming..and they have teachers from britian..The University of Wales..to teach us..so i think i have a chance

  • @rambo9792 is college not school?? well yeah sounds like you would...isnt rockstar north located in wales or sumwhere near there? like i said just think about it and when you make up your mind just go for it...thas my new motto right there..lol "just go for it" just dont put it off for too long....you cant make your dreams come true if you dont chase em.

  • i am making flash games is that a good start?

  • OMG, this is my dream job. im in year 9 and have a way too go, but i dont know how to program games, i meen, i know im young but they dont show yu these things in my school. i really wanna job like this so any one give me any tips on how to work my way up?? please it wud help alot :D

  • @SuperTNTPRODUCTIONS

i m learning 3d design myself for 2 years now. and i m almost 16 and i m also mapping in source since 3 years.

    the key is

start as early as you can.

try out programming , scripting, modeling, concept drawing, ANYTHING, and find the thing u love the most... and get started, !!!

  • @SuperTNTPRODUCTIONS start with flash games.....and then buy "flash programing for dummis" and do a game!

  • @TompanX soz, i no idead wat you meen,,, flash gameS??

  • @SuperTNTPRODUCTIONS I know I'm late to the party but: The first thing you need to do is know what you want to become. (a Game Designer, Programmer, Graphic Artist etc.) Do some research.

Second thing is: Get a job as a QA Tester and then work your way up from there.

If you have a masters degree in Coding or Art, you might be able to skip ahead, but it's not guaranteed.

  • what if i'm into the business side of gaming, like marketing and finance, any tips?

  • the gamer look so fake -_-

  • @melikevideos64 although if you do go down the programming route it's more likely that, if you work really hard, you'll end up in a role such as lead programmer. I would say most creative directors are either artists or possibly designers.

  • @Insaneagram It's mainly designers who become directors but some artist have become directors. And by that I mean any type of artist weather it's Enviroment Artist, Character Artist, Concept Artist any one.

  • @melikevideos64 if you're good at scripting I would stick with that, it's better to specialise and do what you do really well then do a half assed job. That's not to say having skills in other areas is bad, being able to understand the jobs of other people is helpful, after all technical artists are people that understand both the creative and programming sides and bridge the gap. That's a job that pays well too from what I've heard.

  • @melikevideos64 I can't really give you any tips on how to get where you want to be, but I would say to never listen to people who tell you to go into it as a tester. From what I've heard from people in the industry first hand (I'm doing a degree in 3D modelling for games) games company tend to employ random people to test their game and they will rarely stay on as regular members of the team. So it's unlikely that you can get your foot properly in the door that way.

  • @melikevideos64

Dude i'm just like you. I'm 13 and i have learn like 4 programming languages, but i haven't done many mods, or have a team. I have been thinking to put on together. Any tips?

  • lol sony online funny funny funny worst company

  • @bestgamer2112 their consoles, are best.

  • So a few years ago i thought of a game, i thought of plot/story, characters, locations everything, and now i have made( not actually made but have thought of and have records of all my thinking) it into a series lasting 5 games, with possible spinoff games, i was wondering were i would have to go and what id have to study and do so that this game can be made in the future.

  • @Xinmodic

There are game creation modeling and engine software which you can use to home build your game. This basically would require you to do alot of 3d modeling and programing which is aided by your development environment yet it is still tedious

Alternatively you could possibly just attempt to persuade a game creation company to make your game. Persuasion is a skill and a discipline. It could work if you talk to the right person and your idea is very clear and clearly worth the investment

  • I want a job in the video games industry. I'm serious here !!!

  • Expect to practice at least 1000+ (one thousand hours) of 3d modeling or animation before even having a shot at a JUNIOR position. I've spent 2 years modeking for educational; and gaming is a whole other ballgame; I expect at least another year of portfolio building. To anyone aspiring to be a designer or 3d developer of any kind: you'll need to live and breathe your work to get in. Best of wishes to all.

    TPJ, part-time media developer/3d modeler

  • That's pretty interesting, but it's better if you just have, time, dedication, knowing your pattern and wireframe. Even more, you should have good imagination, optimistic, have good communication and cooperation. Better yet, be the one that can bring your industry to the next level or FUN!

  • This video is absolutely useless.

  • my friend maybe gets tester for ea :P hes only 13 like me =O i wanna apply too!! but where?! can someone send me a site

  • @NLmitchieNL

Boy, dont think being a game tester is awesome. When you grow up, you'll have serious time trying to desperately survive. And btw, I think being a game tester is much more harder now since you'll need to find out just every single bug and glitches in the game. Plus, I dont believe you kid that your friend who is 13 is becoming a game tester for ea.
