About a year ago I did a reaserch on C.Tsubasa and ended up with an article which in read:

''Japan granted the rights to air its popular anime Captain Tsubasa (renamed Captain Majed) to be broadcast free of charge in Iraq'' and ''Captain Tsubasa, soon to be Captain Majed''

I wander was this anime previously broadcasted in arabic lands? All the people talking about their childhood like it was broadcasted 20 years ago, didn't this air there just like a couple of years ago? I don't understand.

@BurnRoddy I lived in Saudi Arabia from 1988 - 1998. Buddy this cartoon was aired there on the KSA national channel 1 when i was a kid there in 1989- and i think re run also till 1997.

I saw this episode as a kid and it still remains an all time favourite moment of mine, thank you for bringing this to us...Amazing cartoon, Captain Majid was ahead of its time, it still mesmerisez me, by the way i am married and have a kid but i still enjoy watching this

thats because a woman dubbed his voice... same in the japanese version... this also goes for tsubasa, ishizaki, mamoru, takishi... etc.

It's weird, how come this is the ONLY anime (along with Iga No Kabamaru) which was dubbed professionally (that is if you don't count the name changes). The actors were convincing and all. But other Arabic dubbed shows suck!

And why did they change their names? It doesn't make sense. Japanese writing, Japanese buildings, Japanese school uniforms, Japanese food, the culture is EVERYWHERE, so how can you Arabize them?
