They had so little influence as most salvadorean had over the salvadorean military then. I agree, the foreing policy of the different USA goverments through history after WW II sucks, but do not blame the regular people, as I said, they are not to blame for the wrong doing coming from goverment and elites

Major Roberto D'Aubuisson Arrieta was a Salvadoran Army officer and political leader. He was known he was known as "Blowtorch Bob" due to his frequent use of a blowtorch in interrogation sessions. He was accused by opponents of being an organizer-leader of the death squads who tortured and killed thousands of civilians before and during the Salvadoran Civil War. He was trained in the School of the Americas in 1972. He also responsible for the death of Archbishop Oscar Romero.

I was born in El Salvador in 1976, I had cousins who were in the Salvadoran military during the civil war that were sent to the School of the Americas. My cousins were trained to become better soldiers, not death squad assassin's. This video tries to link the training to crimes that could of been done by anyone that did not attend the school. Really you need to go to a school to learn to shoot, rape and torture? Do gang members in the USA go to this school? Susan Sarandon is so out of touch.

@mightydesign It is true that you do not have to go to school to learn to shoot, rape, and torture. In the film they do not claim all Salvadoran soldiers were trained at the SOA/WHINSEC, they say is that many of them were trained there. Documents list their names.

Other than the repression of the poor populations in Latin American countries to keep the wealthy in power, there is no reason for this school to exist. It is not Susan Sarandon who is out of touch, it is you.
